The Spanish Internet Security Centre is greatly concerned about the fact that 21.3% of Spanish teenagers are at risk of developing internet -dependent behaviour as a result of over-use of social networks . An EU study has shown that 15% of adolescent Spaniards already suffer from this addiction which manifests itself in dysfunctional behaviour such as social withdrawal , loss of communication skills, sleep disorders , loss of appetite and loss of control of the amount of time spent online . Spanish children are by far the worst affected by this in the whole of Europe ., followed by Romania and Poland . The problem has been heightened by the introduction of smart phones which permits kids to still be online when they are actually distanced from their computers . One good piece of news is that there is far less cyber bullying in Spain than in the rest of Europe with 13% as compared with an average of 22 %.
