European Union chiefs have been looking at Valencia´s new five in one land laws .The president of the Costa Blanca based pressure group AUN , briefed the new chairperson of the EU Petitions Committee in a letter sent to Brussels this week . Valencia´s LOTUP law , which draws on five previous land laws and two decrees , simplifies the planning process and speeds up development schemes , according to the Regional government .The president of AUN agrees that there are some improvements . What AUN wants to monitor is that citizens rights are adequately protected and that European directives are respected .The group is actively monitoring what are very complex laws and they still find things that trouble them. These troubling points have been there since the first LRAU land laws came in 20 years ago . Now the approval process gives more power to local authorities under less regional supervision and because it moves more rapidly , small property owners may be more disadvantaged when they need to protect their rights . AUN aims to help and protect small property owners . More recently AUN has been involved in challenging the legality of the rigorous asset declaration requirements imposed on residents in Spain , which has greatly impacted on non-Spanish people living in the country .The EU is currently investigating complaints .
