Valencia News | ITV Costs Still Too High

Page 1

The Valencia region used to be the most expensive region to have your car ITV´d in Spain and despite the regional government lowering costs by 18% in April it has still only gone down to fourth place . Investigations have shown that to get a diesel powered family saloon tested anywhere in the region will cost 51 .64 euros compared with Extramadura where the same test would be 26 euros . The current costs of an ITV test dropped by 8 euros for a petrol powered car and 12 euros for a diesel .The thing that pushes up cost in the Valencia region is that they also do a test for sound emission . People in the region cannot take their cars to be tested in other regions because of this extra sound emission test . In Extramadura and Navarra the cost of an ITV is the same for all vehicles irrespective of the fuel used .In Valencia it rises from 33 euros for a vehicle without a catalyser to 40 for a vehicle with one and up to 51 for a diesel vehicle .The testing for a motorcycle costs 13 euros . Another thing that makes people angry in the region is that if your vehicle fails the test , you have to pay again for a retest , even if the item that needs to be changed is a small one .The Valencia region is the only region that makes this charge . Opposition parties in the regional government want these test costs to be brought more inline with other regions and they want the noise emission part of the test scrapped .Then car owners can have their cars tested in other regions if they so wish and pay less .
