Garcia, who won the inaugural 3GN Shoot-Off at the same venue last year, became the first competitor to defend a Shoot-Off victory, as Event 3 on the 2011 3GN Tour made its first repeat stop in Mesa. And to do so, Garcia was forced to navigate through an immensely difficult field, one of four shooters to qualify out of Tactical Optics, which boasted nearly 200 competitors alone.

Garcia Repeats in 3-Gun Nation Shoot-Off & Wins $5K MAR 30, 2011 08:23P.M. Garcia Repeats in 3-Gun Nation Shoot-Off & Wins $5K

Garcia then drew Kelly Neal, out of Heavy Metal, a potentially exciting match-up that fell short as Neal’s shotgun ran empty with a target still standing, allowing Garcia to cruise through the rifle and pistol arrays to the win. However, the tension amped up considerably in the semi-finals when Garcia stepped to the line against arguably the most dominant shooter in the game today, U.S. AMU’s Daniel Horner. In that match-up, each competitor laid down tremendously fast shotgun runs to pull virtually even heading into the rifle arrays, where Garcia pulled a full plate lead going into pistol. However, Garcia seemingly struggled to disengage the external safety, allowing Horner to blow past through the pistol speed plates. Normally, that would have sealed Garcia’s fate. But in a rare loss of precision, Horner missed his last plate as Garcia roared past to the stop plate. Ultimately, the match-up was a full scale roller coaster ride of emotion for both competitors, leaving Horner stunned and Garcia intensely animated.

Practical Shooting Academy’s Keith Garcia

Meanwhile, Butler’s first round match-up paired him against Clint Upchurch, who has quite suddenly cemented himself as the man to beat in Open with his third consecutive major victory. Butler defeated Upchurch before knocking out Heavy Metal Optics’ Adam Popplewell in an exciting semi-final match-up, setting up the showdown with Garcia. And in the finals, after battling even through the shotgun arrays, it was Butler who jumped out to the first lead on the rifle plates, gaining a twoplate advantage and seemingly headed for his second 3GN win before he hung up on one rifle plate. That was all the opening Garcia needed, as he settled in, cleaned the rifle plate rack, and outlasted Butler through the pistol poppers to the stop plate and the victory. In the remaining first round match-ups, Popplewell cruised past Heavy Metal winner Jeff Gross, who was making his 3GN debut, while Horner cruised to an easy opening-round victory over Chris Sechiatano. The entire Shoot-Off field, from 2nd through 8th place, received cash payouts totaling $2,400, courtesy of AP Custom.

FNH 3 Gun Nation TV MESA, Ariz. --(Ammoland.com)- An impromptu victory lap of highfives and celebration electrified an already raucous crowd, providing a fitting snapshot that captured one competitor’s impact on the 3-Gun Nation Shoot-Off—lightning can, indeed, strike twice.

Preceding the main event, 3-Gun Nation also debuted a new format with the inaugural 3-Gun Nation Team Event, presented by Brownells. Taking the top overall Lady and Junior competitors as Team captains, and then drawing at random to complete two, three-person teams, the first 3GN Team Event featured Team Kay Miculek (Lady) versus Team Katie Harris (Junior).

Practical Shooting Academy’s Keith Garcia defeated Taran Butler in the final round of the FNH USA 3-Gun Nation Shoot-Off, Presented by SureFire, following the Superstition Mountain Mystery 3-Gun here March 27, taking home $5,000 courtesy of Gun Vault.

Harris, who also took top Lady honors in Tactical Optics, remarkably drew two other women, FNH USA’s Dianna Liedorff and Tasha Hanish, to complete her team. Meanwhile, Team Kay was filled out with Ernie

Beckwith and Chris Temple. In the Team Event, it was all Team Katie, as the team captain sprinted out to the first position and laid down a smoking shotgun run to give her team the early lead. Hanish maintained a slight edge over Miculek through the rifle, before Liedorff cruised through the pistol arrays to give Team Katie the win. For their performance, each member of Team Katie received a check for $500 from Brownells, while Team Kay was presented with three Brownells 3-Gun Bags. The eight-person 3GN Shoot-Off is a format like no other, where competitors take on reactive shotgun, rifle and pistol targets in a race to the stop plate. To level the playing field, contestants fired Ruger SR9 semi-automatic pistols, Stag Arms AR-15 rifles and FNH USA SCAR 16s, SLP shotguns and FNX-9 semi-automatic pistols. Each rifle was fitted with SureFire Muzzle Brakes and Suppressors, as well as Leupold Mark 4 HAMR optics. Each firearm ran ammunition provided by Federal Premium.

Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks WICHITA, KS --(Ammoland.com)- For the third straight year, Christina Stockton, a 17-year old student at Stockton Academy in Wichita, claimed the state’s top prize in the annual Junior Duck Stamp program on Friday, March 18.

The next stop on the FNH USA 3-Gun nation Tour, Presented by SureFire, is during the DPMS-Bushnell Blue Ridge Mountain 3-Gun, April 29-May 1. The next Shoot-Off venue is the MGM Ironman, June 511, in Parma, Idaho

Stockton has been participating in the Junior Duck Stamp program for six years, and this is her third Best of Show. Her 2011 colored pencil entry, “This Side of Heaven,” features an American wigeon in intricate detail. Stockton used reference photos from professional photographers online at Birds in Focus, along with live birds observed on wetlands near her home.

East Alton, IL --(Ammoland.com)- A new 20 ga waterfowl model has been added to the Super X3 shotgun line.

Washington, DC --(Ammoland.com)- Rabbi Bendory Minutes before lunatic Jared Loughner began his mayhem in Arizona, the issue of a Federal high capacity ammunition magazine ban was a complete political non-starter.

The Super X3 Waterfowl Shot gun comes in Mossy Oak Duck Blind camouflage and features a grip enhancing Dura-Touch Armor Coating on the composite stock and forearm.

Obama didn’t go near it when he had Democratic majorities and he certainly wouldn’t have tried it after the election rout of 2010.

The gun is available with either a 26 or 28-inch barrel and comes with three Invector-Plus choke tubes.

High cap bans were simply not possible. Add to this the pro-self defense victories in the U.S. Supreme Court’s Heller and McDonald decisions, and the door to magazine bans seemed both locked and barred … perhaps even welded shut for good.

The 20 ga model is chambered for 3-inch shells. The Active Valve gas system cycles all factory ammunition from light field to heavy magnums. The gun comes with two lengths of pull stock spacers, drop and cast adjustment shims and sling swivel studs.

And then came Jared Loughner. And the gun grabbing vultures circled and landed. We now face a replay of the hysteria that brought us the socalled “Assault Weapons” Ban (and the included magazine bans) of the Clinton years. The act of a single madman has struck a blow against the Second Amendment that all the gun grabbers combined have been unable to strike.

The Super X3 All-Purpose Field 20 ga gun has the same features as the waterfowl model, but comes in the Mossy Oak Break-Up Infinity pattern of camouflage. Suggested retail price of all the models is $1,339.99

Today’s Tabbloid PERSONAL NEWS FOR news@ammoland.com

31 March 2011

Today, the most common plaintive question you hear from the victim disarmament crowd is: “Why would anyone need a high capacity ammunition magazine?” Note that the emphasis is always on the word “need”.

infringed” simply means what it says. When politicians infringe on magazine capacity, they infringe on the Second Amendment. You should want a high cap mag because you can have one! This is America, not a socialist nanny state or tin pot Third World dictatorship. The saying “use it or lose it” is never so relevant as when applied to our Bill of Rights. See “2A Today for the USA”

So-called “gun control” has always used semantic deception. What the gun confiscators want to do is apply “needs” to situations that more accurately require “wants”.

5. Your assailants may well be armed with high cap magazines themselves. No ban will affect these criminals; it will actually encourage them. Do you really think the gang bangers care about federal laws? Again, ask the local cop why he or she won’t “downgrade” to a ten round mag to go along with this feel-good idiocy. Ask the pols why they don’t think the cops should do so.

No one “needs” a seat belt. After all, 99.999 percent of your driving time you don’t “need” a seatbelt. You only “need” a seat belt during an automobile crash. Do you want a seatbelt? Of course! No one would even debate this issue. To a greater or lesser degree, the same goes for property insurance, fire extinguishers, spare tires, life jackets, and first aid kits, to name just a few things.

These are just a few of the reasons for WANTING (not “needing”) a high cap magazine. In the spirit of JPFO’s recently launched “High Cap Freedom” campaign, go out and buy one or more high capacity mags for your pistol or rifle today.

So with this in mind, here are five good reasons that you should WANT a high capacity magazine.

Always remember, the present drive towards a ban might fail, but all it will take is “Loughner II” (another convenient “crazed lone gunman”) to drive the hysteria machine to victory for the gun grabbers. Get your high cap magazines before any ban can take place.

1. Multiple assailants. Whether on the street or during a home invasion, violent criminals often move in pairs or packs. Realize that you will never shoot as well as your score at the range when you are under the unbelievable stress of a life-or-death encounter. Which would you prefer to have in your magazine in such an event? Ten rounds? Or fifteen or seventeen? Or perhaps even 30?

“Because your life is too precious to risk running out of bullets.”

2. Private citizens always face the threat before the police arrive. Private citizens were on the front line at Tucson, Columbine, and Virginia Tech. Why limit our effectiveness?

Rabbi Dovid Bendory Rabbinic Director Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership About: Jews For The Preservation Of Firearms Ownership Mission is to destroy “gun control” and to encourage Americans to understand and defend all of the Bill of Rights for everyone. Those are the twin goals of Wisconsinbased Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (JPFO). Founded by Jews and initially aimed at educating the Jewish community about the historical evils that Jews have suffered when they have been disarmed, JPFO has always welcomed persons of all religious beliefs who share a common goal of opposing and reversing victim disarmament policies while advancing liberty for all.

You should logically want whatever cops choose to carry. How many cops choose a ten round magazine? If politicians want to hinder us “little people” with a ten round limit, they should also hamper the police with the same limit. Let’s see how far that flies. In nearly every instance it is not a cop on the “front line” of a violent situation. It is private citizens who must face the “lone gunman” until (and sometimes even after) the police arrive. See Dial 911 and Die. Is the life of a policeman more important than yours? 3. Civil disturbances. Watch the Reginald Denny beating video some time. Review the looting insanity of Hurricane Katrina. You’ve got a crazed mob of ten, twenty, or fifty people headed in your direction. Are ten rounds enough? Might you want fifteen, or seventeen, or even thirty?

JPFO is a non-profit tax-exempt educational civil rights organization, not a lobby. JPFO’s products and programs reach out to as many segments of the American people as possible, using bold tactics without compromise on fundamental principles. Visit www.JPFO.org – Copyright JPFO 2011

Oh, and while you’re at it, perhaps bring from memory those Los Angeles Korean store owners standing guard on the roofs of their businesses with semi-auto AKs during the Rodney King riots. No one messed with those stores, did they?

These arguments are factually absurd and grossly misstates the legal standard for “pre-enforcement challenges” to a law. The plaintiff’s own action (or inaction) in failing to violate the law eliminates the imminent threat of prosecution, but nonetheless does not eliminate Article III jurisdiction.” I encourage you to click the previous link and read pages 11 and 12 of the PDF file. Please note that if you choose to read the Charleston and Martinsburg motions to dismiss, the extensive body of case law they cite in support of their arguments almost entirely predates the Supreme Court’s decision in Medimmune v. Genentech. In addition to their baseless arguments on the issue of standing, the Charleston Defendants attempted to mount a defense of the legality of Charleston’s ordinances under state law. However, in doing so, they confirmed WVCDL’s view that those ordinances are without appropriate statutory authority to be valid as a matter of state law. Martinsburg, on the other hand, did not even attempt to mount a defense of its ordinance.

West Virginia Citizens Defense League West Virginia --(Ammoland.com)- Yesterday, the “Charleston Defendants” in WVCDL’s lawsuit challenging the constitutionality and statutory validity of a variety of local gun control ordinances in the cities of Charleston, south Charleston, and Dunbar filed a motion to dismiss.

These recent filings confirm WVCDL’s belief in the strength of its cases. Soon, the courts will enter scheduling orders specifying the time frame for briefing and oral arguments and a ruling on this motion. This, however, will be just one of many steps in the litigation process.

Today, all defendants in WVCDL’s lawsuit challenging the constitutionality and statutory validity of Martinsburg’s city building gun ban filed a motion to dismiss.

Finally, in light of the allegations by both Charleston and Martinsburg that WVCDL and its members apparently do not face a real, credible, and immediate threat of criminal prosecution under any of the ordinances that are being challenged, WVCDL and the other plaintiffs have extended both cities very generous offers to settle their respective cases. Both Charleston & Martinsburg have been extended settlement offers under which they would agree to repeal the challenged ordinances. After all, if Charleston and Martinsburg are not enforcing their ordinances and WVCDL’s members have nothing to fear–as Charleston & Martinsburg appear to want make the courts believe, at least for the purposes of WVCDL’s lawsuits–then why not go ahead and resolve this unfortunate misunderstanding and cleanse their respective city code books of what are apparently just dead letters?

We are still awaiting responses from the South Charleston & Dunbar defendants, which are due on April 15, 2011. Both motions to dismiss and other relevant documents in this cases are available here. Before I receive questions, we did not make any mistakes in posting the 2 motions to dismiss and their supporting briefs on WVCDL’s web site. Charleston and Martinsburg did make identical–and equally laughable–claims that WVCDL and its members do not have “standing” to sue because there is allegedly no real, credible, and immediate threat of criminal prosecution of any of you if you choose to violate the

practice. Well, Joe, 4 days after you were sworn in as our newest United States senator, the NRA–whose endorsement you so highly touted in your “Dead Aim” TV ad–took dead aim at the Traver nomination. Meanwhile, the Brady Bunch praised it.

The following is a letter Senator Manchin sent me responding to an email I personally sent him and Senator Rockefeller (from whom I don’t expect as response since Rockefailure is an anti who has well-deserved F ratings from NRA and GOA):

Manchin Can’t Make Up His Mind on Anti-Gun Traver Nomination

March 10, 2011

MAR 30, 2011 09:42A.M.

Thank you for contacting me and sharing your concerns about the President’s nomination of a new Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). Hearing from West Virginians is very important to me, and I appreciate your input on this issue.

[address redacted] Dear Mr. Mullins,

Manchin Can’t Make Up His Mind on Anti-Gun Traver Nomination to Head the ATF Encourage U.S. Senator, Joe Manchin to make the obvious choice.

The nominee, Andrew Traver, is currently the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the ATF’s Chicago Field Division. As you know, the Director of the ATF is appointed by the President, but his nomination is subject to confirmation by the full Senate. While the nomination of Andrew Traver has not yet come up for a vote, please be assured that I will keep your concerns in mind as I follow this confirmation process closely. Again, thank you for taking the time to add your voice to this important discussion. If I may be of further assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact my office. With Warmest Regards, Joe Manchin III United States Senator

West Virginia Citizens Defense League West Virginia --(Ammoland.com)- Our new U.S. senator, Joe Manchin is noncommittal on President Obama’s nomination of anti-gun zealot Andrew Traver to be Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

ACTION ITEM: Tell Senator Manchin to OPPOSE Traver Nomination Since Senator Joe Manchin is noncommittal on President Obama’s nomination of anti-gun zealot Andrew Traver to be Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, it is obvious that he needs to “hear from West Virginians” and receive out input on this issue.

This is the same Joe Manchin who ran an infamous TV ad last fall in which he killed two birds with one stone by touting his NRA endorsement and highlighting his opposition to Cap and Trade legislation by nailing a copy of the bill to a tree and using it for target

Washington, DC --(Ammoland.com)-MSSA’s # 2 bill, SB 371, our bill to encourage the manufacture of smokeless powder, primers and cartridge brass in Montana has been scheduled for its public hearing before the House Taxation Committee for Thursday, 3/31, at 8 AM, in room 152 of the State Capitol.

Montana Powder & Primers Bill Hearing Scheduled MAR 30, 2011 09:04A.M.

Please contact Committee members and ask the to restore to the bill two features removed in the Senate; the tax breaks and the liability protection. come to the hearing if you can.

Montana Powder & Primers Bill Hearing Scheduled SB 371, powder/primers bill hearing, 3/3, Thursday 2011.

The tax breaks won’t cost Montana anything because there is no such business in Montana now. If such a business starts, it will provide jobs for Montana. Montana already has liability protection for firearms and ammunition manufactures. The liability protection we want in the bill merely extends this same protection to future manufacturers of powder, primers and brass. Remember, this is a clear RKBA issue. There are only two plants in the US that make powder now, and they’re both owned by giant defense contractors. All other powder we use for ammo is imported, and subject to any arbitrary import restriction. We need to get business like this jump-started in Montana to assure our ammunition supplies.

Montana Powder & Primers Bill Hearing Scheduled

Thanks for your help!!! Also, SB 414, wolf control, was passed by the Senate today on Second Reading by 30-20 House Taxation Committee • Chair: Mark Blasdel (R-Somers) • Vice Chair: Mike Miller (R-Helmville) • Vice Chair: Dick Barrett (D-Missoula)
