The existing kettle has small mouth and big bottom, so it is hard to clean the inside. LED indicator is very dim and its not seen easily, there should be a brighter indicator. Material of the handle is so smooth that it sometimes slips from the hand, it should be easy to carry To avoid the overflowing any liquids , the level of the liquid inside should be visible. Kettles are used for multiple purposes other than just boiling water, etc. There can be a compartment for keeping a spoon.

The final product has a visible LED in the power base. The base itself has a heating coil which heats the kettle horizontally as well as verically so that the heating process is quick The whole circuitry is incorporated in the power base so that the base can be used for heating other heat resistant plastic containers as well.
Innovation
The brief for this course was to find the need of a product for a specific activity which does not exist yet. In order to do that a target user was taken and their day to day activities were observed.
Brief Find the need: The target user selected was a person who reads a lot. I observed the user, Whenever he reads, he tends to keep his phone near him,so that if he doesn’t know any word which is mentioned in the book, he can Google it. Observation: This activity was time consuming, It takes approximately 3-4 minutes to open the phone and find the required word and its meaning. Restatement: Based on this observation, I decided to design a product which fulfils this need and reduces the time required for this task. The product is a digital marker which will help the user understand new words and their meaning. The marker will be synchronized with an app in the phone which will have all the glossary. When the data is collected by the phone, it will dictate the meaning through the speakers provided in the pen.
Detailing
There will be customization available if the user wants to translate the word in some particular language. So whenever the user will scan the text, the device will dictate the meaning as well as the translated statement.
The technology used in the device is OCR(Optical Character Recognition) for scanning the text and Bluetooth for sharing the data with the app in the phone. For scanning the user will press the button given on the device. As soon as the text is scanned it will transfer the data to the phone and within seconds the user will hear the meaning of the scanned word.
A bluetooth speaker is given at the top of the device. This will dictate the data gathered by the app. It will also have a feature of translating the content into respective languages. To switch on and switch off the device a traditional snap fit button is given on the top.
There is a micro USB port in the side to charge the AAA battery inside the device
All the text is captured by a camera module incorporated inside. It then sends the data to the app. Which then finds the data and gives output through the bluetooth speaker.
The LED light on the button is given to indicate the status of the device. White light indicates that the device is in dictation mode while blue indicates that it is in library mode. To switch between these two modes, a user should press the button twice. The red light means battery is low
The LED at the tip of the device indicates how much text is highlighted. It is also used for highlighting the text in dark environment.
Library mode In this mode, the output is given on the lock screen of the user’s smartphone. The screen flashes for 5-10 seconds(which is long enough to read the output data). This mode is given so that the dictation wouldn’t disturb the users in the respective environment(like libraries).
Internet of Things
In this course we had decided to make some simple and meaningful interactions with an object of our everyday lives, giving distant users reflective, tactile experiences to engage them with something other than a screen.
Mind mapping
Undertanding the circuits
Initially we were given a few input and output devices to explore. Our motive was to create something meaningful and innovative using those components.
Prototyping
Potentiometer
Slider
Battery Servo motor
Ultrasonic Sensor
Leonardo Arduino
RGB LED strip
Testing In order to test and see if the device works or not there were two prototypes with same circuitry inside. Initially bluetooth module was used in both the devices so that the devices can connect. The devices were also given to various users for testing.
What is Gutur Gu ? Gutur Gu is a device for those who stay away from their closed ones. This device is made for sharing the emotions through colours. It lets you know how your closed ones are feeling. Since our motive was to engage people from something other than any display, it differs from all the telecommunication devices
User 2 Whenever user 2 will use inputs like Moodometer or PreSensor, the output will be seen in user 1’s device.
User 3 When user 3 uses the “Gutur Gu” feature this character will rotate. When the input is given it is seen through the servo motor attached to the character.
Gutur Gu When user 1 rotates the potentiometer, the character which is assigned for the user 1 in user 2 and user 3’s device will rotate. It can symbolize anything like poking or the user 2/3 are being missed, etc. PreSensor Presensor uses ultrasonic sensor to sense the user’s presense and light up the device. It will also light up the area assigned for the user 1 in user 2’s and user 3’s device.
Moodometer This feature enables the user to set the colour according to their mood, for example yellow for happy. When user 1 slides the Moodometer to yellow, the output is seen in user 2 and 3’s device.
Packaging Design
Packaging design involves dealing with the user experience. The popcorn container was taken in order to break the convention and reinvent the idea of eating popcorn.
Ideation
Graduation Project
As a part of my assignment at Keon Designs, I was given an opportunity to lead a project which involved DIY (Do it yourself) furniture kit. The kit was developed keeping in mind ergonomics with respect to furniture design. In addition cognitive ergonomics is required for assembling the individual parts and manufacturing constraints.
Ideation
Prototyping For the finalization of the concept, gozinto chart was used. Throughout the prototyping process, we observed some issues and tried to resolve them in the final one. We also explored different materials during the process. In some of the models, paper honeycomb was used. Keeping in mind cost, strength and other factors, paper honeycomb was replaced by 7 ply corrugated sheet.
Implementation

Product study
In the research of the cafeteria, I studied many systems but I mainly focused on the serving area. In the research, I observed the methods of serving and refilling the food to the table.
The existing product is primarily made from SS. The primary method of manufacturing is sheet bending. It is used for serving and storing the food containers. It takes up excess space when not in used and refilling it is an issue. My initial idea for the concept was to reduce its space and implement channels to make it easy to refill.
