Located amid a student neighborhood in Ottawa , an empty parking lot on the corner of Plymouth street and Bronson avenue has been redesigned to foster a sense of community and to provide a space to socialize. With a large path flowing from within the neighborhood to the bus stop, the goal was to provide convenience in a student 's bustling life. Along the path one might find vegetation , along with places to sit , work and play. The path is designed to create a safer and more efficient walk for commuting. Located in a dense traffic area , the original pedestrian route is obstructed by oncoming traffic, making catching the bus difficult. The proposed path fixes this issue, providing a much more visible environment , such that one never need miss the bus again.

The space is designed with multi-functionality at its core, aiming to serve the community in a variety of ways throughout the year. Its program adapts to the changing seasons, ensuring that the space remains relevant and useful regardless of the weather. In the winter months, the space becomes a quiet , sheltered area for students or anyone waiting for the bus, offering a peaceful , solitary environment. During the spring , it transforms into a vibrant community flea market , offering space for commerce and social interaction. In the summer, the structure provides much-needed shade, offering refuge during local festivals and outdoor events.

A Connected City explores how an empty lot can be filled to form a new neighborhood. While designed as a self-sufficient community, the proposal considers the surrounding context and connections both inside and outside the lot. The arrangement creates unified spaces and a purposeful sense of connection by utilizing open spaces, such as parks and plazas, that flow into one another, leading travellers though every area of the neighborhood.

The Layered City, a neighborhood redesign for the current site of Confederation Heights in Ottawa , focuses on creating a balanced and accessible environment that caters to diverse demographics. There is particular attention to the needs of students and the elderly, both of whom rely on public transportation and local amenities. The concept , “around the corner," emphasizes convenience and connectivity, with a 2-minute grid layout that ensures key destinations are within easy reach for all residents. By blending residential , office, and open spaces, the design fosters a vibrant community where living , working , and leisure coexist seamlessly, promoting both efficient density and accessibility for all users.

Site 1 , outlined in the following images, focuses on leisure and play, containing athletic programming including a soccer field and community center, in addition to park and urban space aimed at fostering a strong community. One key target audience for Site 1 is students, as the neighborhood is located directly beside Carleton University. The site is designed to provide a place in which people can both live and play.

This set of drawings presents a conceptual design for a multi-use building prepared in accordance with the zoning by-laws for a traditional main street area. The drawings include generic floor plans, sections, elevations, and electrical systems, focusing on a " Core & Shell" approach for a 4-6 story building with 500-600 sq.m. of total floor area and a basement parking level. The design adheres to the maximum permitted height and footprint , and provides a foundational layout for future tenant fit-outs, with a focus on meeting technical requirements for building permit approval.

Nurbia is defined as a new form of urban subburbia, one that is healthier and achieves cohesion between North American ideals and European standards. The site is bound by a network of parks and facilities that form a green loop throughout the site, adding to the theme of walkability. Nurbia integrates thoughtful planning , accessibility, sustainability, and community engagement to create vibrant and inclusive neighborhoods where residents of all ages can thrive. The neighborhood is tailored to meet the diverse needs of Ottawa 's population , with a particular focus on families, the elderly, and commuters.

Within Nurbia , primary streets are designed for high traffic capacity while incorporating green boulevards, bike lanes, and wide sidewalks to support both vehicles and pedestrians. Secondary streets feature narrower lanes and slower traffic, with a pedestrian-friendly environment that fosters community interaction and includes mixed-use housing. Tertiary streets prioritize pedestrian comfort , offering ample space for gardens and private areas, creating a quiet , family-oriented atmosphere with a strong sense of connection.

The urban fabric includes varying building densities to cater to diverse demographics. Low-density blocks, with 2-3 stories, focus on families and large personal backyards, while medium-density blocks (3-5 stories) prioritize older and younger residents near commercial and civic areas. High-density blocks ( 5-6 stories) place families and older residents on the lower floors, with larger apartments on the upper levels, creating a dynamic and inclusive environment that balances family needs, privacy, and access to amenities.

Located just South of Ottawa , the Bowesville O-Train station on line 2 serves as the gateway to Nurbia. Nurbia is a community development designed to be a healthier and more connected suburbia. To accomodate the daily life of both residents and visitors, the Gateway Plaza is organized with a heiarchy of spaces. These spaces are designed to accomodate both those who are looking to quickly pass through the plaza , and those who wish to enjoy the outdoors or meet up with friends. This heirarchy is accentuated through materiality, with each material bringing to life the intended purpose.
