A Case of A Patient with Follicular and Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer Subtype with Long-term Survival Abstract Thyroid cancer is a common endocrine malignancy and is estimated to be 1.1% of all malignancies in humans. The American Cancer Society estimates at least 22,500 new cases of thyroid cancer in the United States in 2004. The silence character and lack of patients’ attention in thyroid early case make most of this cancer usually detected at the late stage. Follicular Thyroid Carcinoma (FCT) is a subtype which is a widely invasive carcinoma and usually showed distant metastasis after total thyroidectomy. Anaplastic Thyroid Carcinoma (ATC) is a subtype which has a nearly 100 % of mortality rate with a median survival rate only 6 months after being diagnosed. We reported a case of an anaplastic thyroid carcinoma in a 39-year-old woman with 1.5 cm lump at the left neck that has been felt since two months before admission in December 2014. All vital sign were in normal value, there is no family history with same diagnosis, and patient was pregnant. Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy was performed in May 2015 with the results of Struma Koloides’ findings and treated from September 2015 untill November 2015. Ishtmolobektomi surgery was performed in September 2015 with histopathologic results of FCT. Because of that, total thyroidectomy was performed in November 2015 and histopathologic results of it showed ATC. After that, further management of radiotherapy was performed 33 times. The follow up results including lab results, x-ray examination, and ultrasonography showed no metastasis and progression of the lesion. The patient is still alive for three years and show a good prognosis. Early diagnosis and recognizing thyroid cases from its early stage has a crucial impact on the survival prognosis of the patients. This case should be an additional information and consideration material for Indonesian government in solving thyroid cancer cases.
