more than ever In 2008, we worked with partners to achieve amazing results: • Increased National School Breakfast Program participation to 335,091 from 310,448 in 2007. • Increased by 24 percent the number of children participating in summer food programs, to 58,245 in July 2007 compared with 46,940 in July 2006. • Sponsored 78 afterschool sites participating in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program resulting in 1,993 children receiving nutritious meals each month. A total of 221,494 meals and snacks were served during the year. • As a Child and Adult Care Food Program sponsor, we trained and monitored more than 2,000 family child care providers who, in turn, fed more than 15,000 children in family child care settings. This amounted to more than 7,700,700 healthy meals and snacks served during the year.
