LISA AZZANO

“Mother and Child Infinite Love” Clay 16” x 9” x 9”

LISA AZZANO “COEUR To HeART” 2015

FEBRUARY 3 – MARCH 17,

Michelangelo mused, “I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.” Canadian artist Lisa Azzano’s ethereal sculptures capture the serenity and grace of these freed angels; the quiet joy that comes with such peace which reverberates through her work with kinetic force. Her delicate, Victorian portrait style transmutes the clay and porcelain into figures that almost seem to breathe so softly one can barely notice, giving the impression that the effigy could simply stand and if the viewer were to touch, there would be warmth under the clay. These cherubic faces demurely eschew eye contact, preferring to coyly draw the viewer into their enchanted radius, lending to a sensation of quiet awe. “I think that the most important part of sculpting is capturing the feeling or essence of each sculpture. You can feel the energy and the emotion emanating from the clay if you capture it in this first stage.” There is an intrinsic beauty in the quiet, serene emotion displayed in each face and pose, every sculpture conveying a subtle, ancient wisdom and feminine energy that invites the viewer to bask in the healing nature of each sculpture. Ms. Azzano’s gentle touch creates a mimetic illusion in each piece, porcelain seeming more akin to soft skin than hardened ceramic. The soft, refined nature of her technique works to invoke the breathtaking masterpieces of Renaissance sculpture, exquisite in nature to the point of demanding a moment of silent contemplation as they exist both inside and outside of our experience; real for their life-like appearance yet otherworldly for their ethereal grace and elegance. Beautiful and radiant, each sculpture contains a unique, contemplative quality that captures the viewer’s imagination, drawing them into the welcoming embrace of angels and fairies. Lisa Azzano’s sweet, intuitive style contributes to the warmth and comfort in each face, offsetting the traditionally cold material with a heavenly warmth that flows with fluid ease from each piece.

FEBRUARY 3 – MARCH 17, 2015

Salvador Dali urged “instead of stubbornly attempting to use surrealism for purposes of subversion, it is necessary to try to make of surrealism something as solid, complete and classic as the works of museums.” Complex and brilliant, the compositions of Norwegian artist Kai Bratbergsengen explore new aesthetic paths that burst with gestural swaths of bold earth tones and brilliant plays of light, catapulting surrealism to a level of classical beauty by blending it with mannerism. A visionary creator, his prismatic compositions are at once rhythmic, chthonic, and cacophonous. Labyrinthine in nature, Mr. Bratbergsengen’s brilliantly colored, transitory forms are an exploration of shape and hue that result in mesmerizing narrative tableaux, revealing the thin lines between man and the natural world around him, uniting them as one. Influenced by his travels in his youth, Mr. Bratbergsengen has memories of twigs and branches along the road and their anthropomorphized shapes ultimately find a place in his artwork today. Though he builds the viewer a surrealist realm of humans dissolving into roots and leaves seamlessly, there is a distinct reality in each twist, the seams where skin becomes bark and skin once more. In his work there forms a world in which we are not separated from nature, but function as a distinct part of it. This blend of the fantastic and the mundane serves to create a mythos for this world he presents us with, lending it a tangibility that engrosses the viewer, inviting them into this thriving, breathing organic zone. Kai Bratbergsengen’s compositions reflect a unique artistic vision which flows from his mind and onto the page with precise, gestural strokes. Through his drawings he demonstrates a deep understanding of the complexities of life in all its glorious formations. Potential energy dominates the essence of the canvasses, giving the viewer pause to look and breathe in the lingering expectancy that holds there, ready to come forth at a moment’s notice. The presence of bold, earthy colors brings the emotions held therein to the forefront, creating a subtle story that moves along the curves and edges of figures and shapes that look out toward us, tempting us to touch and experience the fantastical reality of this obfuscated world. The poses confront the viewer, demand our attention, and create evocative iconography that is impossible to resist for its visceral power.

PHILIP CATANIA

“Peacemaker” Oil on Canvas 13.25” x 16.25”

PHILIP CATANIA “COLLECTORS’ CHOICE”

FEBRUARY 3 – MARCH 17, 2015

Surrealist master Andre Breton declared, “I have always been amazed at the way an ordinary observer lends so much more credence and attaches so much more importance to waking events than to those occurring in dreams... Man... is above all the plaything of his memory.” Contemporary artist Philip Catania trans-morphs reality into splendid fictions by combining imagery from the natural world and fantastical scenarios experienced in dreams to create opulent Surrealist compositions. Whimsical abstract imagery, cyclonic forces, whirling brushstrokes and undulating pools of organic hues create imaginative compositions fittingly reminiscent of subconscious dreams and fantasies. As an artist, educator, and art therapist Mr. Catania taught art to students varying from children to mentally and emotionally challenged adults, transforming his art into a therapeutic activity for others. His visionary dreamscapes are an homage to Surrealism and its interest in the untapped abyss of the unconscious realm, catapulting his artwork to an insightful activity of self-realization and understanding. Much of the imaginative creatures undulating throughout his compositions are inspired by Mr. Catania’s personal journey through life which brought him from the busy streets of New York City to a quite residence on a farm in central New York State. The artist draws the opulent forms from the wonderful abyss of nature daily delighting his senses as he farms his sprawling crops. After sketching the flowers and figures that consume the sights before his eyes, and within his dreams, he transposes his drawings into labyrinthine oil on canvas creations. Mr. Catania states, “For me, painting opens a doorway to a cerebral vision, making my mind go spiritually deeper which allows me to tap into the essence of my soul. Fantasy opens doors to other worlds where anamorphic shapes and figures rule.” The imagination becomes a reality in Mr. Catania’s artwork, and his dynamic oil paintings combine imagery of nature into fanciful compositions of surreal fantasy.

CORA CRONEMEYER

“Need to Know” Acrylic on Paper 20” x 30”

CORA CRONEMEYER “COLLECTORS’ CHOICE”

FEBRUARY 3 – MARCH 17, 2015

Marc Chagall declared: “If I create from the heart, nearly everything works.” Contemporary New York artist Cora Cronemeyer creatively expresses limitless emotions as she reveals the meaning of existence in the universality of humankind. Through her high voltage, pop-style compositions, this gifted artist communicates a visceral message reflecting a unique individual style and perspective. Employing symbolic narratives, she opens a window to the flow of feelings, memories and emotions, offering tangible shape to the suggestion of timeless moments and eternal ideas. Utilizing variegated brushwork to dynamically depict emblematic imagery, her expressive geometric compositions are imbued with imaginative subtexts about relations in our global world. Swirling vortexes of emotion that mirror the soul are revealed in Cora Cronemeyer’s visceral scenarios. A dynamic relationship of lines and symbolic forms, coupled with a cadence of passionate color and gestural brush strokes create rhythmic, syncopated canvases. Hidden within mysterious backgrounds, luminous semi abstract shapes emerge with a huetopian, rainbow-hued pallet revealing sleek, undulating curves. These spectral works are emotional and physical expressions of a fanciful realm reflecting an exhilarating mix of free-spirited abstraction and serious craftsmanship. Wildly imaginative, her subjects exist in some other worldly terrain as they float through magical space. Through dazzling brush strokes, elements of the heart’s interior and exterior mesh, as Ms. Cronemeyer’s visceral narrative oeuvre offers the impression of life being soaked in sunshine with her candy-colored hues. Celebrating the glory of the world, her boundless imagination is very present, which buzzes with images-within-images, free association, and fantastical pop-art bright colors. With a dazzling usage of geometry, Cora Cronemeyer captures spectacular visions of color and shape that call to mind free floating thought processes. Bright and cheerful with a dose of universalism; Ms. Cronemeyer deftly composes for the viewer a piece of the world as seen through luminous candy-colored lenses.

JOHN DAVIS

“Circle of Life 2” Acrylic Panels on Canvas 36” x 24” (each)

JOHN DAVIS “COEUR To HeART”

FEBRUARY 3 – MARCH 17, 2015

Inspired by Joan Miro’s statement: “I try to apply colors like words that shape poems, like notes that shape music, John A. Davis’s kaleidoscopically hued exuberant compositions sing with an expressionistic spectral palette that evoke celestial, surreal and ethereal realms. Musically inspired, Mr. Davis paints with symphonic precision, as he deconstructs reality with expressionistic iconic images. Color harmonies and musical forms merge and contrast in rhythmic patterns, just as we differentiate in music between counterpoint and harmony. Visually, his personal artistic vision comes to a crescendo through the mystic realm of color as it nourishes the viewer’s senses. Richly vibrating in form and hue, his subliminally hued oeuvre reflects an unmistakable joie de vivre where color dynamically interacts on the canvas. Acclaimed for being a virtuoso colorist, John Davis’s expressive palette reverberates with the pulsation of color which unites his oeuvre offering visual spiritual sensations. The elements of color exist simultaneously with form as his color wheel outlines the structural planes, making them energetic with tones fitting together like notes in a musical score. Evocative, emotional and imbued with great visual energy, his modern vision orchestrates luminescent gem-colored forms that vibrantly ascend the compositions, inspiring viewers through rhythmic brushstrokes, melodic color schemes and compositional harmony. Transcribing emotions onto canvas, as one would in music, his oeuvre gives voice more to a sense of rhythm and flux than to form a realistic composition. Investing each composition with incredible vitality and an irrepressible hued syncopation, Mr. Davis’s expressionist compositions pulsate with gestural swaths of bold colors and brilliant plays of light. Tension and energy dominate his fiery and explosive canvases as his masterful color application electrifies the scene he portrays. With a jewel tone color palette of vibrant yellows, emerald greens, deep blues and fiery reds, he captures the dynamism and evanescence of the universe.

DANIEL GIMBEL

“Lisa Black Hat” Bronze 12” x 12” x 1”

DANIEL GIMBEL “COEUR To HeART”

FEBRUARY 3 – MARCH 17, 2015

Constantin Brancusi proclaimed: “What is real is not the external form, but the essence of things.... It is impossible for anyone to express anything essentially real by imitating its exterior surface.” Inspired by this credo, Kentucky sculptor Daniel Gimbel blends classical style and expressionistically abstract contemporary geometric sculptures and wall reliefs which feature organic, flowing forms, with a strong emphasis on texture and movement. Infused with a dynamic synthesis of reduced form, his three-dimensional works are a portal of multisensory experiences, radiating a multifaceted visual language. Reminiscent of the ancient relief and free standing sculptures of Egypt and Greece, Mr. Gimbel takes these distinct styles and combines them with the exaggerated features and sharp angles of the Art Deco mode, ultimately imposing an intrinsic evolution upon the craft. In using the Direct Method, Daniel Gimbel’s superior control over the material allows for a freer range of expression, imbuing his sculptures with a certain fluidity that proposes a spontaneity of structure, an interplay of shapes and curves that is simply a divine sort of natural, coming from the heart of his chosen medium. Tranquil and complex, his sculptures and wall reliefs exemplify truth in simplicity, allowing the viewer to take in every detail without distraction and absorb the aesthetic fully. They do not shroud themselves in mystery, rather, they stand forward for all to see and glean meaning from. Bold while simultaneously being demure, each sculpture and relief brings something modern to ancient modes of expression, becoming something all its own.

ANN GORES

“Meet Me in Taos” Oil on Canvas Board 12” x 16”

ANN GORES “COLLECTORS’ CHOICE”

FEBRUARY 3 – MARCH 17, 2015

Inspired by Monet’s declaration, “My eyes were finally opened and I understood nature. I learned at the same time to love it,” Ann Gores’s enchanted eye views the world with an extravagant indulgence as her palette luxuriously connects with nature. Influenced by her love of nature and the powerful dynamics of the terrestrial realm, this Washington-state artist has an eternal rendezvous with the natural kingdom as she seeks to capture the beauty and mystery of the floral world. Ms. Gores’ latest collections represents the pinnacle of her art as this series highlights her genius as a colorist and as a master of texture. Bathed in luminescent light, her mesmerizing floral oeuvre seeks to appreciate the ethereal nuances of our environment and in a single moment she freezes the lush beauty of nature. A virtuoso colorist who harmoniously employs the full spectrum of the color palette, Ann Gores’s insatiable curiosity for color allows her paintings to sensitively reveal a remarkably adept portrayal of the floral kingdom. Her signature luminous palette of vibrantly orchestrated blocks of color defines her works, while lightly feathered textures intimately translate the glory and jubilant majesty of nature. It is not the tangible qualities of the floral realm that are highlighted in her paintings; it is the softly washed memories of a place. Therefore this technique allows her to seize and translate onto the canvas ephemeral moments as she invites us to inhale the beauty of the terrestrial kingdom and exhale its joy. Also renowned for her still life and landscape paintings, Ann Gores sustains a romantic and triumphant relationship with nature.

TRICIA KAMAN

“Silhouette and Parasol” Pastel 24” x 21”

TRICIA KAMAN “COLLECTORS’ CHOICE”

FEBRUARY 3 – MARCH 17, 2015

Inspired by the statement by Georgia O’Keefee who declared: “I feel there is something unexplored about women that only a woman can explore,” Tricia Kaman pursues a complex visual dialogue of the feminine form by painting a contemporary homage to women throughout the ages.. Harkening from a tradition of centuries old quest to depict the beauty of the female figure, Ms.Kaman investigates the reformatted past art form of the female and creates a ground- breaking series of ephemeral yet constant salient tableaux. Through the prism of the female, Tricia Kaman’s canvases are intertwined with significance, inviting the viewer to engage and interact with the figure. Her female portraits are tributes to women of the past and all those in the present as she portrays the stylized female form. Her paintings allow the women to be seen as monumental figures as they are in real life. They are not just Venus, they are also Jupiter and Mars; figures of power and respect as well as innate sensuality. Ms. Kaman taps into facets from the long-standing traditions of portraiture, working with a broad, bright color palette. Bathed in subdued colors, inviting textures, the subject’s face magnetically draw the viewer into the canvas, inviting them not just to observe but to interact. The spiritual connections between woman and the natural world remain central to these works, these are women of flesh and blood, tangible representations of the essence of humanity. Tricia Kaman’s compositions are a constant exploration of different forms of expression of the female as she underscores the subtle details of her subjects, celebrating the simple beauty of women. Believing that beauty and plainness have the same value and need for recognition, her tableaux are in an endless conversation with each other– a composed variation of a way of seeing. Never idealizing the female, her subjects reflect the truth and reality of the veritable female form. Her sublime subjects bodies glow with hues ranging from warm pink to smokey violet, creating an environment in which the body is not just human but blends seamlessly into the world itself, becoming the landscape. Painting with an exceptional eye for color nuance and light, the variations in color and tone heighten our awareness of interplay between the body and the atmosphere as she highlights a large terrain of skin and subtly rounded figural curves. The skin itself becomes a vessel for both light and emotion – radiating its light outward into gradients of colored background.

ADRIENNE KYROS

“Thistle Olive Trees and Beyond” Watercolor 22” x 30”

ADRIENNE KYROS “COLLECTORS’ CHOICE”

FEBRUARY 3 – MARCH 17, 2015

Paul Gauguin proclaimed: “Art is an abstraction; as you dream amid nature, extrapolate art from it and concentrate on what you will create as a result.” Inspired by Gauguin’s credo, Illinois-based artist Adrienne Kyros translates the juvenescence and glory of nature in her illuminated watercolor and oil compositions as she creates a spectral paradise on earth. Through the transcendence of color, Ms. Kyros’s dream-like, majestic floral- landscape imageries are visual metaphors for the bounty of the terrestrial kingdom as she captures the stoic essence of feeling at peace with nature. Synthesizing her nature tableaux into a symposium of line and soaring color, Adrienne Kyros imbues her work with thick brushstrokes and a heavily saturated kaleidoscopic color palette as she creates dream-like sublime visions of nature. With an innate sensitivity, this gifted artist’s oeuvre joyfully communicates the exuberant language of the floral and landscape realm through undulating bursts of color. Her arresting visceral vision encapsulates an idyllic, contemplative serenity where the presence of light and shadow radiate a divine visual poetry as the viewer is displaced from his contemporary setting and feels he is on the cusp of another timeless yet transitory otherworld. A myriad of rich expressive hues intersect on the canvas with a beautiful intermingling of earthy greens, vivid reds and pinks as well as blues and bright yellows, all of which contribute to a feeling of tranquility and charm. Conveying a message of hope and peace, Adrienne Kyros encourages us to inhale the beauty of nature and embrace its joie de vivre. Claude Monet mused, “Nature won’t be summoned to order and won’t be kept waiting. It must be caught, well caught.” Inspired by this proclamation is Colorado artist Elizabeth Mowry whose incandescent heaven-on-earth landscapes commemorate the majesty of nature as she immortalizes the permanence of our natural world. With an unparalleled ability to capture the essence and spirit of the terrain, she channels Impressionist inspirations into her splendiferous depictions of pastoral vistas with compositions that transport the viewer to idyllic locations. Deconstruction #24 Oil on Canvas 16 x 24

PATRICIA NEDEN

“Red Head” Oil on Canvas 30” x 30”

PATRICIA NEDEN “COLLECTORS’ CHOICE”

FEBRUARY 3 – MARCH 17, 2015

Galvanized by Paul Cezanne’s statement: “To paint is not to copy the object slavishly, it is to grasp a harmony among many relationships,” Canadian artist Patricia Neden draws inspiration from Nature in order to synthesize this adage. Nature in all its geographic tempo is the governing profound theme in Patricia Neden’s tableaux as she reveals an inner harmony within the complexity of her layered forms. Drawn to the expressive essence of the syncopation of the external realm, she communicates an organic, abstract perspective infused with texture and color. The synchronicity of the moods of the landscape has its impact on her elegant, harmonious panoramas and reflects the artist’s interest in the equilibrium man can achieve in relation to the natural environment. This concept is the chief element of landscape - the beauty and chaos inherent in nature - and is a dominant theme of her oeuvre. Exploring themes inspired by Nature’s uncontrollable forces such as turbulence, renewal and serenity, Patricia Neden’s oeuvre illustrates a balance of calm and chaos. Influenced by the work of fellow Canadian artist JeanPaul Riopelle, her vibrant, abstract, multilayered nature permutations are impressive in their dynamic verve. Boldly beautiful and alluringly abstract, large intense sweeps of rich primary colors grace fields of dark tones, dripping and swirling in an intriguing, organic painterly pattern. Navigating the canvas with visceral contrast, she successfully articulates the tensions of the terrestrial universe with a vibrant visual lexicon, resulting in a spiritual artistic harmony. Painting with an intense visceral energy that translates the balance drawn from the natural world, Ms. Neden’s organic, abstract forms are swathed in expressive shapes that reflect the ever-changing movement of nature. Saturated with color, light, form and texture, she offers a rich sensory tableau that illuminates the emotional intensities of nature. With a spectacular electric vigor, this passionate dialogue with nature begins with a fluid, tactile visual experience and ends with a harmonic commemoration of the joys of the universe.

Deconstruction #24 Oil on Canvas 16 x 24

DIEGO SALADO

“The Guardian” Oil on Canvas 40” x 30”

DIEGO SALADO “HeARTphoria”

FEBRUARY 3 – MARCH 17, 2015

Abstract Expressionist artist Mark Rothko declared, “I am interested only in expressing basic human emotion.” Contemporary master artist Diego Salado’s work follows in this emotional emphasis through its demure palette and explosive motion. Exploring the amorphous concept of form, Mr. Salado’s paintings blend sharp focus and obscured detail in order to create a depth of field that tricks and pleases the eye, allowing the viewer to form a deep, spiritual connection with the vast and seemingly endless space depicted within. Diego Salado’s oeuvre takes viewers on a visual odyssey between dream and reality, offering just enough ever shifting detail to blur the lines of how each obfuscated image is experienced. This beautifully executed and lovingly rendered style creates a realm unto itself that transcends expectation, seemingly changing at every second glance to create something wholly new to experience and enjoy. These expressive abstract portraits of nature, reflect the powerful foundations of emotion expressed through a saturated color palette and dynamic brushwork. With darkened backgrounds, brilliant strokes of light greens, and blues mimic the delicate streaming of moonlight through stained glass. For Diego Salado the spatial existences of his canvases are not composed through geometric forms but through the energetic ease of opulent brushwork imitating the billowing currents of nature. His dynamic style burgeons through a brilliant color palette of primary colors juxtaposed with darkened shadows. Color and texture formally energize one’s relationship with his abstract compositions, and in turn, produce an emotional effect within the mind, body and soul. By layering splatters, drips or even flinging specks of paint onto the canvas, texture expands the two-dimensional canvas and enters the space of the audience. Through texture, Diego Salado’s paintings command presence and elicit responses from its viewers, focusing on the extensive relationships between line, form, color and texture and his colorful, non-objective canvases which symbolize the dynamic and exciting ways one can experience a visceral response.
