INGER DILLAN ANTONSEN

"Event" Oil on Canvas 31" x 39”

INGER DILLAN ANTONSEN “OPTYX of the EVANESCENT”

NOVEMBER 12 – DECEMBER 8, 2015

“Abstraction is real, probably more real than nature. I prefer to see with closed eyes,” said Josef Albers of abstraction. Norwegian artist Inger Dillan Antonsen embodies this concept though her bright and vivacious abstract canvasses. Inspired by the movements of the universe and music, Ms. Antonsen creates a gorgeous melange of color, imitating the birth of stars in the swirls and whorls. . Every inch of her art explodes with life, a cosmic whirlwind of technicolor brilliance that is almost meditative in its complexities. The raw power encompassed in each canvas denotes a galactic event, the beginning or the end of something, each concept cruelly beautiful in the sheer force with which it is presented. Using a distinct, painterly technique, Inger Dillan Antonsen taps into the motion of emotion through her complex and beautiful brushwork. Acting as a channeling instrument for the cosmic symphony of the universe, Ms. Anstonsen translates this music into an intricate visual syntax that illuminates the human experience via the lens of the cosmic experience. Precision and detail contribute to create grandiose pieces that underscore the universality of Ms. Antonsen’s work. The cosmic symphony of Inger Dillan Antonsen’s work is presented here through the lens of the life cycle of a star, creating universal cohesion within her grand design. Starting with a Nebula, the cosmic cradle from which all life spawns, the outward motion of her canvases imitates the outward motion of the universe as gravity begins to compact dust and energy into a star, next we have the Galaxy, stars moving in concert to the rhythm of the universe around them, caught up in the spirit around them. After that the Supernova, pieces forming blocks and groupings which are beginning to split apart from the whole again, taking on new, individual lives and, finally, the Event Horizon, the return of galactic motion inward to scrape away the defined edges of birth, it is here where the limits become endless and escape into the vast void of other universes. Masterful in their execution and vivid in quality, every canvas takes on an identity of its own which weaves itself into the greater narrative of her oeuvre while simultaneously standing strongly on its own. There is an incandescent quality to the body of Inger Dillan Antonsen’s work, an almost ethereal glow that resonates from the center outward. Her indomitable talent translates into something truly unique and wonderful, a cosmic lattice work of color and vibrant emotion that captures the imagination and catapults the viewer into the far reaches of space, moving to the tune of the celestial orchestra. Each brushstroke works like a note on a staff, conducting and leading the instruments of life through a dance so awe-inspiring and complex it is truly a joy to behold and experience.

BRITTA BREMER

"Creative Liberty" Mixed Media on Canvas 39.37” x 39.37”

BRITTA BREMER “OPTYX of the EVANESCENT”

NOVEMBER 12 – DECEMBER 8, 2015

Galvanized by Mark Rothko's credo: "I'm interested only in expressing basic human emotions," German artist Britta Bremer's paints with a bravado of expressive color in an abstract visual syntax which speaks in languages both iconographic and purely visual. Existing in a prismatic-hued world, her visceral, non-objective canvases are influenced by Rothko's expressive philosophy as they appeal to universal emotions and ideas through their magnificent bold color palette and dynamic, textural paint application. Providing a sensorial experience for her audience, Ms. Bremer's oeuvre reflects inner passions and emotions which exist in a world far beyond the literal. As symbolic renderings of the human soul and psyche, her non-objective canvases vibrate with visceral energy, all the while translating visual space where the conscious and subconscious coalesce and integrate. Intellectually and emotionally, the viewer is dynamically intertwined with the canvases, charged by the powerful aesthetics of creation which are synthesized into a visual sensation. Visceral and emotive, Britta Bremer's canvases are both passionate, meaningful and dramatic. Not merely recording the world that Ms. Bremert sees, but rather recreating the emotions she feels, she expertly balances a varied color palette, utilizing color to achieve visual perceptions and emotional responses. By painting color as a sensation, this gifted artist transmits the emotions of life by juxtaposing bright and muted shades to give each image a dynamic flow. Her interest in the unconscious effect of color on mood rings through her work, creating a symphonic feeling of empathy translated into hue. Colors rise and fall and explode with contrasts that are dazzling as she interplays depth, juxtaposition, and light, while the materiality of her paint bursts with coloration, achieving powerful three-dimensional tactility. Radiating a sensory cue, Ms. Bremer emphasizes that color is not only about seeing, but it is also about feeling, as she entices cognition to experience the colorful canvas both visually as an external object but also emotionally as an internal object. The depth of her painting, with its clear and popping brushstrokes raising from the canvas, reflects the texture and ever changing emotion that Ms. Bremer seeks to capture in the seemingly static medium of painting. She takes the task of paint and brush and accelerates them, giving her works a motion that is an image of velocity, emotions swimming by at the speed of light. The crescendos and decrescendos of arcing shapes and illuminating colors translate into a carefully created cadence of creative feeling, inspiring joy but allowing the viewer room to see the highs and lows that come with euphoria.

DR. ABARAHAM CHACHOUA

“Untitled” Photography

DR. ABRAHAM CHACHOUA “APOTHEOSIS of the ILLUMINATA”

NOVEMBER 12 – DECEMBER 8, 2015

Drawing inspiration from the Ansel Adams statement that “Landscape photography is the supreme test of the photographer,” the landscape photography of Dr. Abraham Chachoua reveals a “Third Eye” where he skillfully illuminates sites and scenes that the normal vision easily overlooks. Using only an I-phone and not utilizing any digital manipulation, his lens masterfully captures the immediacy of the natural environment. Paying homage to the timeless beauty of the sky, the water and the land, Dr. Chachoua’s i-photography are artistic communications illustrating unique visual perspectives whose dioramas are lyrical metaphors which symbolically express the strong symbiosis between man and nature. Intuitive aesthetic vision shines the spotlight on often overlooked panoramas such as bridges, waterways and roads which are showcased with a quiet sense of drama. This New York photographer’s sharp lens synthesizes every detail and is unerring, as his work constantly demands that the viewer go outside and see their “ordinary” surroundings with better eyes. Vistas are illuminated where the sun, the sky, the water and city belong to all- each panoramic view is united by an infinite horizon. A highly developed sensitivity to light, composition and angle dominate his oeuvre inviting us to re-think the images of the world as his lens sees it, encouraging us to enter his environment and experience the view. A strong sense of the physical environment is beautifully balanced with the feeling of freedom that permeates each iphotograph. By directing his lens towards nature, Dr. Abraham Chachoua’s latest landscape series presents two realities of nature; the often inconspicuous, internal world of the spiritual and the immediate, palpable, external world of the physical .The interactions between the two reflect just how interconnected the artist believes spirituality to be with life. Freezing for eternity the ephemeral moment, his camera allows him to record these split second experiences, recontextualizing immortality with a click of the camera, before they pass by thereby existing as visual metaphors for the continuity and eternity of life. Timeless and eternal, the artist often highlights bridges which become metaphorical symbols of infinite transition where boundaries are transversed, reflecting the inseparable bond between man and nature. Framing the landscape in an unexpected way, the photography of New York photographer and world-renowned physician, Dr.Abraham Chachou’s works are infused with a mystical quality which elevate the ordinary to the extraordinary. With luminous wonderment, the photographer depicts the textures of the sky, water and brides, as he captures the beauty and mystery of nature, proving himself adept at using the i-phone to create images with a strong physical presence. What would otherwise be quotidian images, his striking treatment and aesthetic choices take his photographs beyond the confines of nature reflecting the rhythmic and temporal aspects of life. With an elegance of frame, he encapsulates the duality of nature, both its sublime simplicity and magnificent profundity.

CORA CRONEMEYER

“Turbulant Sky” Acrylic on Paper 30.5” x 22”

CORA CRONEMEYER “APOTHEOSIS of the ILLUMINATA”

NOVEMBER 12 – DECEMBER 8, 2015

Inspired by Paul Cezanne's philosophy,"When the color achieves richness, the form attains its fullness also," New York-based Cora Cronemeyer expresses a powerful visceral vision in her abstracted color-wheel compositions as she intermixes a bold sense of line, kaleidoscopic hues and movement. Masterfully orchestrating a dramatic visual syntax, her dazzling acrylic oeuvre brilliantly metamorphs to become a prismatic labyrinth of spectral colors that are compositionally rewarding. A commanding gestalt radiates a saturated fantasia color palette with exuberant hues which are juxtaposed for visual prominence, resulting in a dynamic oeuvre overflowing with overwhelming bursts of color. A visionary creator, Cora Cronemeyer is a master colorist painter in her own expressive and painterly idiom, and is a proponent of the power of the gestural stroke. Vividly free flowing and wondrously fluid in motion, her mosaic compositions are accented with a chromatic syntax radiating colorful pops of fantasia-hued tones. These chromatic threads of color attain optical beauty and are at once rhythmic, interdynamic and cacophonous, creating a dense network of shapes and forms which richly convey a passion for life. Expressing abstract concepts, each intricate image suggests a spontaneous joie de vivre and reverberate with a powerful sense of visual energy. Ms. Cronemeyer's arrangements of dramatic shapes and robust color do not convey the way we look in reality, because there is no way to represent what creates each one of us. Rather, her magnifying glass reflects the point and counterpoints of the human psyche as the viewer is drawn deeper into this dazzling universe of color and shape.

JHON CUESTA

“BOPER (bastards oppressing resistance)” Mixed (Collage, Oil and Acrylic on Canvas) 43” x 43”

JHON CUESTA “MYSTIQUE of the MINDSCAPE”

NOVEMBER 12 – DECEMBER 8, 2015

Pablo Picasso decreed: “What I want is that my picture should evoke nothing but emotion.” Following this credo, Colombian artist Jhon Cuesta paints expressionist, social-political compositions, going beyond the requirements of everyday reality to create a world without time, without limits, and with endless space. In emotionally tense canvases replete with fantasia colors and rich textures that transcend lines and forms, he synthesizes the perfect aesthetic environment where color and movement in space crystallize to create entirely new dreamlike semi-figurative vistas that invite the viewer to look beyond what is seen. His paintings are social commentaries which capture the complexity of the human experience through the artist’s employment of powerful color, dynamic lighting and vivid forms. Integrating this together, Mr. Cuesta creates new artistic visions that seek to rediscover the secret of finding oneself through art and experience the mystery of life. Visceral expression is central to this gifted artist’s compositions. Demonstrating an expressionistic blend of themes revealing a complex aesthetic, Jhon Cuesta’s intriguing paintings feature fantastical characters composed of powerful surrealist shapes and bold planes of color which heighten the psychological and emotional tension of the canvases. The viewer confronts themes of love, loss, race and life head on, engaging directly with floating forms and visceral compositions. Color is the testimony of feeling and a passion for color holds a prominent place in his tableaux featuring figures and forms which metamorphose into tangible structures. Electrifying hues sweep through the canvases allowing this gifted artist to metaphorically express emotions and thoughts through a brilliant color palette which imbues the work with a rich, ebullient two-dimensional, textural effect. The explosion of syncopated color provides a dynamic, visual imagery of socio-political revelation and creates an exciting artistic drama on canvas. Impassioned colors interlock on canvas, dynamically intermingling into the interior space, achieving a glowing effect. Juxtaposed against these dazzling colors is an exciting interplay of light which further intensifies an emotional sense, resulting in a vibrant richness which reflects the deep heart’s core of who we are and inspires us to contemplatively reflect on our inner being.

LUCILE DRISKELL

“Color and Shape” Wood Relief and Mixed Media 41” x 29”

LUCILE DRIKELL “ABSTRACTION From ALPHA To OMEGA”

NOVEMBER 12- DECEMBER 8, 2015

Wassily Kandinsky mused: “The more abstract its form, the more clear and direct its appeal.” The striking abstract compositions of Lucile Driskell illustrate this principle through her dazzling non-representational wood reliefs and mono prints. Employing minimalist artistic language integrated with pure geometry, Ms. Driskell explains that her abstract compositions are always “created with the beauty of shape in mind,” reflecting an aesthetic expression channeled through precise design elements. Intermingling combinations of colors tones to create diverse image variations, her geometrical-based color filled constructivist mixed media wood reliefs and mono prints are amplified by constructed objects. Lucile Driskell’s artistic vision focuses primarily on the boundary between what is internal and external, posing a perceptual visual riddle. Thus the play with geometrical elements, which may at first sight seen more like a search for the perfect combination of colorful solid geometrical bodies, acquires an altogether different visual vitality. Boldly and firmly embracing her individuality as an artist, Lucile Driskell’s wall constructions and sculptures are known for their highly disciplined art form and cool surgical precision of craftsmanship. Existing on their own aesthetic terms, her elegant and restrained wood reliefs and mono prints reveal an energized spatial composition, by exploring dimensions through layering simple shapes and juxtaposing them against expressive color. Contrasting organic forms create complex relationships as they overlap within an abstracted dynamic background, and there is a subtle change of color and density as her hard-edge band styled produces vibrations and illusions of spatial expansion. Cool and expert, Ms. Driskell judiciously planned geometric paintings coordinate a close color rapport with considerable finesse, and her spectral colors exist independently in space, without altering the over-all forms of the surface, or the complexities of the structure itself. With a contemporary visual vocabulary, Lucile Driskell’s pristine oeuvre manifests the dynamic geometric placement of colors and shapes in a carefully controlled aesthetic environment. Building an atmosphere with simple, clean lines and limited blocks of color, this gifted artist utilizes the rectilinear and organic shapes in hues, ranging from burnt sienna to deep shades of maroon, each form and shape supersedes the previous one. By transforming the geometric simplicity of shapes into complex spaces with bold, colored forms, design comes together to create an active image where line, color and form coalesce and float freely in space, creating a complex relationship between the individual elements and the overall composition.

PAUL KENTZ

“Bryant Park, Winter” Oil on Canvas 20” x 24”

PAUL KENTZ “APOTHEOSIS of the ILLUMINATA”

NOVEMBER 12- DECEMBER 8, 2015

“Your painting is the marking of your progression into nature, a sensation of something you see way beyond the two pretty colors over there. Don’t stop to paint the material, but push on to give the spirit,” said American Realist artist Robert Henri. New York artist Paul Kentz imbues his work with the spirit of New York, creating timelessness by integrating past and present with his landscapes and city scenes. With his bright, primary color palette and strong line work, Mr. Kentz captures the intimate intricacies of the city, the ways in which New Yorkers walk side by side with the past and bring it with them into the future. His masterful work brings us into that mindset of walking one block with buildings older than your great-grandparents and then to another where the glass reflects the sunlight into your eyes, screaming of the modern and the new. Paul Kentz’s body of work radiates with the vibrant energy felt when experiencing the culture and promise of New York City. His creativity is further explored through opulent color palettes; a cyan blue tone mimics a vaporous cloud on a sun-filled day and illuminates his bold hues of lemon yellows, nectarine oranges, and forest greens; creating a saturated canvas that presents people enraptured with the city and her sights. His unique, vivacious style captures NYC in all the glory of her past, present, and future, the Empire City of the East Coast. His expansive canvases take these large spaces and compress them, turning them into snap shot moments that can bring you into the environment of the museum or remind you of the wind chill at Rockefeller Center in the winter, the tree twinkling overhead and the wafting smells of roasted peanuts. Ultimately, every detail speaks to the deep care Mr. Kentz feels towards his subjects, presenting them to us via a bright, loving lens. Colorful and vivacious, each canvas emits a certain glow, a deep, inner presence that captivates the viewer with its powerful energy. Each inch is hauntingly beautiful, an idealized snapshot from the deepest memories of a New York childhood brought into the modern day. There’s a warmth contained in the paint, a vibrant life which draws the audience into the world created and remembered by line and color. It’s easy to imagine the smells and sights and sounds of New York as even the intangible spirit of the city is rendered through Paul Kentz’s talented brushwork and bright palette. The lack of overstated outline creates the illusion of a photograph, drawing on the roots of American Realist technique which emphasizes the real goings on of everyday people.

AI-WEN WU KRATZ

“RENEWAL / PART I” Acrylic on Canvas 60’’ x 41.5’’

AI-WEN WU KRATZ “MYSTIQUE of the MINDSCAPE”

NOVEMBER 12- DECEMBER 8, 2015

Mark Rothko declared: “A painting is not a picture of an experience; it is an experience.” Inspired by the famous painters of the last half-century, Contemporary Master Ai-Wen Wu Kratz skillfully reduces paint to its purest elements of color and form; the work does not attempt to represent life as we see it, but, rather, as we experience it. With dynamic energy and joyful exuberance, Ms. Kratz’s work investigates painting’s potential as her art occupies a domain between a romantic and a conceptual art form in which a deep, psychological experience is formed. Using acrylic paint to explore color, luminosity, movement, and relationships, Ms. Ai-Wen Kratz captures the essence of life as she creates a probing visceral experience for her audience. Her serene paintings create an innovative world within a world, and each of these “worlds” have led the artist to develop a reputation for poetic epic works that display both delicacy and fragility, revealing a deep respect for something fundamental, some primal, indigenous sense of shape and color. The vibrant palette of Ai-Wen Wu Kratz’s emotional dreamscapes resonate as much with passion as with hue, while they communicate emphatically the visceral power of the emotional experiences of life. Vibrant hues of salmon, pink, and blue radiate from her canvases to evoke a sense of vitality and movement as they transcend the two-dimensional plane. Paint is applied in strong blocks of color, which allow the spectator to become fully immersed in the tonality of each composition and act as a gravitational force to pull the spectator to the center of the canvas. The lyrical, spirited brushstrokes add to the emotional quality of the works, by formenting a sensation of movement within the blocks of color themselves as they emphasize the interplay between the various juxtaposing hues. Dreamlike in quality, Ai-Wen Wu Kratz’s oeuvre transforms the natural world into an experience of poetic visions and fantasy, while still employing symbolic elements to convey psychological ideas that emphasize the “freedom” of art from traditional culture. Reminiscent of a dream voyage to another place, which is deeply personal experience Ms. Kratz’s oeuvre evokes our own sub consciousness, while it reveals universal truths about the journey and celebration of life. Offering a parallax vision with titles such as “Renewal,” she communicates the powerful energy of life as her oeuvre symbolizes our own shifting emotional tides, as well as the harmonious relationship between the psyche and the organic world.

SHAWN MAN ROLAND

“041320 • contemplation upc v1” Acrylic & Oil on Plaster 49” x 24”

SHAWN MAN ROLAND “ABSTRACTION From ALPHA To OMEGA”

NOVEMBER 12- DECEMBER 8, 2015

Motivated by Arshile Gorky’s credo: “I seek a form of language which will express my ideas for our time,” Shawn Man Roland’s internet-inspired series creates a new visual lexicon that adroitly transcribes the influence of the internet onto the canvas. Galvanized by the dominance of the internet in our 21st century world, Mr. Roland transcribes computer phraseology of the digital realm onto his acrylic and plaster canvases. Sculpting a language that visually articulates PC and Mac terminology, his artistic prose accentuates and elaborates conversations of our app-smart inundated culture. Mr. Roland states: “There is a tension between my work being led by the materials, by the texture, shape and color and what comes out of it, or by images and more illustrative concerns.”. With the belief that the Internet unites the Millennials, the Generation Xers and the Baby Boomers, his modern abstract compositions reverberate with the signs and symbols of electronic dialect. Through an intuitive visual language which is symbolically interlaced with a collage of figures, signs and symbolic numbers, the artist adroitly imports the hieroglyphics of the internet, illustrating the universal cultural relevance of the computer. Mr. Roland parlays onto plaster, mixed media a tangible vortex of Internet inspired compositions, such as the iconic QR Code, and catapults the signs and symbols of technological culture into a non-objective vision. Orchestrated with unique creativity and individuality, this gifted visionary translates the impact of the computer culture into a visual syntax and celebrates the socio-cultural aesthetic imagery of the internet on the 21st century. Transcribing them into them into the visual realm, he welcomes the viewer into the computer world and invites us to connect to the pc generation. Mr. Roland states: “I believe in interpreting creative ideas into real world applications - taking something abstract and making it finite, tangible, and of exceptional beauty. That magical process is by far my greatest challenge and reward.” Rebranding the aesthetics of the computer into a mixed media format, Shawn Roland’s oeuvre successfully captures the internet imagery of our cultural world, manifesting a fresh perspective of the 21st century. With the usage of a muted, earth-based color palette juxtaposed against black and white images of figures, numbers, symbols and signs, Mr. Roland creates a deep, complex language of imagery that edifies the internet to a cultural icon that defines our time. A powerful physicality.radiates from his deeply textured, expressionist tactile, multidimensional plaster-based compositions which metamorph into a powerful visual commentary. Also recognized for his highly creative Sculptural oeuvre, Shawn Man Roland’s plaster sculptures, with their soft, fluid curves, are inspired by the practice of yoga and embrace the calm of meditation. Interactively inviting a state of deep, transcendent reflection, his sculptures are often compared to the works of Henry Moore with their alluring, dynamic, twisted forms which radiate in three-dimensional space.

TIRIL

“Tablet No. 6” Acrylic on Canvas 12” x 12”

TIRIL “OPTYX of the EVANESCENT”

NOVEMBER 12 – DECEMBER 8, 2015

Kandinsky stated “The more abstract is form, the more clear and direct its appeal.” Inspired by Kandinsky’s credo, Tiril Benton’s abstract quest is to translate onto canvas the non-representational, divergent realities of shape and color, transcribing them to a complete fulcrum of expressive sensations. Resonating with the verve of non-objective vision, her masterful tableaux resonates with a cornucopia of color and form which dominates her visceral abstract vision. Gestating into a sensory experience, Tiril’s powerful abstract expressionist work illustrates the emotional essence of the natural world and invites us to imaginatively connect with the universe. Revelatory and reflective, Tiril Benton’s dazzling non-objective compositions are a visual syntax of the abstract realm that metamorph into personal expressions of the inner self. Influenced by dynamic emotions, this gifted artist explores the many narratives spun by both memory and emotional attachment, resulting in a transcendent oeuvre that is stunningly beautiful. Appealingly conveying an expressive strain underscored by unexpected perspectives, her abstract genre takes inspiration from the choreography of the Abstract Expressionists and does not conform to a formulaic asymmetry. Through amorphous shapes and a carefully selected syntax of illuminated color and texture, the artist creates a sensorial experience as she intuitively builds layers of energetic color on the canvas, Tiril’s manifesto is essentially focused on the subtext that lies beneath the surface where she creates a symphony-like complexity in each work, weaving a colorful concert of hues and textures building a rich tapestry onto each canvas. One of the hallmarks of Tiril’s oeuvre lies in the way she is able to court non-verbal communication with her audience while illuminating the sensorial realm. Bridging the world of abstraction, her visceral paintings are seen as a creative exploration of internal worlds. These visual reflections of our internal and external realms intersect to evoke imagery through bold and instinctive brushstrokes which flow from each painting. Cajoling us to probe our own artistic sensibilities, her visual and textural non-representational works are laden with meaning as they explore the emotional weight of our world. Indeed, her intention is not so much to faithfully represent the world, but rather to evoke the feelings and the inherent emotions contained within. Dynamic and expansive, the common thread that runs throughout her oeuvre is to unearth new meanings for the viewer.

ISRAEL TSVAYGENBAUM “MYSTIQUE of the MINDSCAPE”

NOVEMBER 12 – DECEMBER 8, 2015

Inspired by this philosophy, Russian born-New York state based artist Israel Tsvaygenbaum creates a chimeric world populated by mystical terrestrial and celestial paradoxical silhouettes which ethereally reveal how a creative mind can translate dreams into tangible forms. By integrating the visual vocabularies of surrealism, figurative along with abstraction, Mr. Tsvaygenbaum creates a surrealist fantasy universe of his own that manages to maintain a powerful visual energy sustained through his signature vibrancy.
