CALCULATED SUGGESTIONS: LIGHTING: 1) Replace T/2 Lamps with TB Lamps In this facility, T12 fluorescent lamps were found in the main retail area. Replacing these bulbs with T8 fluorescent will save an estimated $1678.78 annually. Avista provides an estimated $14.00 incentive per lamp, depending on wattage, bringing the incentive savings to $5670.00. The cost of the upgrade with the incentive would be $2430.00.

2) Install occupancy sensors When unoccupied, the lights in the basement and back room should be turned off. Occupancy sensors turn lighting off automatically when a room is unoccupied and turn the lighting on when people return to the area. Installing switch plate occupancy sensors in common areas, such as the back offices and break room will lower energy usage. We also recommend purchasing occupancy sensors that require being turned on manually so that day-lighting can be used appropriately.

HYAC: 1) Operate HVAC system based on occupancy Operate HYAC system based on the actual occupancy of a space. Equipment can be scheduled to shutdown just prior to the end of scheduled occupancy to reduce run time. Set back heating and cooling temperatures 30-60 minutes before the end of the day. For unoccupied periods, set heating at 55 degrees and cooling at 80 degrees. 2) Run the HVAC fan system on automatic Do not run HYAC fan at all times. Switch the control to automatic. A fan configured to run constantly is adding a significant load while providing little to no operational benefit. Where occupancy is well below design levels near the end of the day it may also be possible to turn ventilation fans off for the last 30 minutes of the day. EQUIPMENT AND APPLIANCES: Activate computer and monitor power settings Set computers and monitors to enter a low-power mode after a period of inactivity. Activating power management features can save $25-$75 per unit annually. In addition, turning computers and printers off after the workday can cut energy usage up to 75%. If the power management feature was activated on the computers in this facility, the estimated annual savings would be $1,518.00. There is no cost to implement this recommendation and the payback is immediate. Avista
