Architects use collage as a technique to modify existing images such as street photographs and explore proposed changes. •
Take a photograph of a street you know well or have visited. Draw over this image or print it out.
•
Using tracing paper or greaseproof paper draw new elements into the street such as people, furniture, games or plants which would change the way it is used.
•
Draw each element separately and then cut them out. You can also cut out parts of other images to incorporate into this street scene.
•
Experiment with arranging these new elements onto the base image and take photos of the different ‘options’ you have explored.
•
Once you have an option you are happy with, glue these onto the original image.
