01 | VERNACULAR Cambridge Outdoor Education Center Thesis Spring 2020 Local Resident Entry
The Academy School Outdoor Education Center explores adaptively reusing existing historic resources to empower environmental literacy in Cambridge, Maryland. Dorchester County is at risk from chronic inundation both physically and socially. Situated on 1.83 acre, the historic school and new pavilions connects students with flood adaptation strategies through the building construction, demonstration gardens, workshops and access to Choptank River.

02 | GRID Harlem Park: Garden Community ARCH700 Spring 2019 Harlem Park suffers severe de-densification, low property value, high crime and deterioration of existing urban fabric due to the 1960s urban renewal strategy. Backyard green lots were created in each block to beautiful the community, however, these spaces became havens for drug dealers. My team approach the community revitalization in four phases: urban block, commercial anchor, high density development and civic resources.

ARCH600 Fall 2017 Located in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland, the site is situated between a busy commercial corridor and a suburban community. The reading center is about unifying the community through poetry and nature. A segmented mass parti frames the connection between the Writer’s Center across the street, Reading Center and the public garden. The building form continues the urban edge but breaks down in scale to recognize the changing context.

ARCH601 Spring 2018 A well utilized bus stop located at the Leaf Landmark Mall in Alexandria, Virginia, is dimly lit and uninviting. As an important public transportation transition stop, the bus Branch stop can be improved to provide a better ridership experience for local residents and visitors heading towards downtown Alexandria. Biophilic design of the bus stop canopy creates a sense of space in a concrete jungle. The petals of the canopy is constructed of solar panels stores power to light the area at night and service phone charging stations.
