Redecorate WELCOME TO AMY HOWARD AT HOME Amy Howard, the creative genius behind the furniture brand Amy Howard Home, is launching a fresh, fun, easy-breezy way to “go-green” in design; Rescue Restore Redecorate®! For years Amy has offered a myriad of fabulous products that clients can use to update and refresh tired furniture. Having built her incredible business on finding spectacular vintage pieces and fine antiques, refurbishing them to an artful state and then reproducing these items for sale, Amy’s quest for 2013 and beyond is to share her tips and talent for revitalizing what could be considered throw-aways into lovingly restored magnificent pieces for the home. “Breathing life into home décor pieces that otherwise would be discarded has become a tremendous passion of mine this last year. Once we discovered that nearly 10 million furniture and accessory items are being discarded annually, we declared war on the dismissal of furniture that has full potential for a second act in them!” Howard said. “The construction and integrity of older furniture is unquestionable, especially these days with the market flooded with lesser-quality imports. We decided to rescue and restore products and show clients how they too can redecorate their spaces; not with all new purchases but with a loving hand and eye for refreshing. It’s quite satisfying, really!” Amy’s methods go way beyond paint and reupholstering. Her innovative techniques and easy-to-use products will change the way we look at existing furniture and cast-offs for good. Her teaching methods are simple to follow, the results are astonishing, and her sparkle and enthusiasm make her the quintessential go-to for DIYers around the country and beyond.

Creating a LUXURY LIFESTYLE the DIY way! I have always seen my home as an extension of myself. Collecting antiques and objects of art from my travels, as well as pieces that I have rescued and restored, gives a home a collected feel, a soul. After 23 years of designing and manufacturing design driven high-end furniture, I am excited to be teaching others how to create their own works of art with our innovative and patented products. My passion is now teaching others to follow their dreams and use their creativity and passion as our vehicle. I have personally trained our retailers, while instilling our philosophies and passions into each and every one. They, in turn, will teach you how to create the home of your dreams the DIY way.

HOW TO STEP 1
Turn can of One Step Paint upside down and allow to sit for at least 30 minutes to an hour.
STEP 2
It is important to begin with a clean surface. Clean entire piece with a degreaser to clear away any dust or dirt, etc. Follow up with a damp rag and wait until piece is completely dry before moving to step 3.
STEP 3
Vigorously shake the One Step can for 1-2 minutes. Shaking the can will help bring the pigment from the bottom of the can.
STEP 4
Open lid of One Step with a can opener and then thoroughly stir with the stir-stick. An electric paint stirrer is as effective and more efficient.
STEP 5
Use the China Bristle brush to coat your object with One Step Paint. Apply a light coat of the One Step. One Step paint is intended to be opaque and need not be applied with a heavy hand.
Pro Tip: One Step can be rolled, brushed or sprayed on to your surface. Pro Tip: Avoid puddling One Step Paint as it will result in a cracked finish. STEP 6
Once your piece is covered in one coat, allow the object to dry for 20 to 30 minutes. The thicker the application the longer the dry time.
STEP 7
Apply second coat of One Step Paint if necessary for complete coverage.
STEP 8
Allow to dry for 20-30 minutes. You want this second coat to be completely dry if you intend to apply any other Amy Howard at Home products.
STEP 9
Now, Enjoy the Bragging Rights!™
**If you desire your piece to have that dead, chalky finish, you may leave the second coat as is. There is NO sealing required for One Step Paint. This is what One Step is all about, it only requires One Step. You can however elect to seal it with Amy Howard at Home Bright Idea or Amy Howard at Home Light Wax.

HOW TO Remember to wear your mask in a ventilated area. STEP 1
Make sure your piece is clean and clear of any dust or dirt. Simply wipe it down with a degreaser and a damp rag. Let piece dry entirely before moving onto Step 2.
STEP 2
Although it is not required, it is recommended that you lightly sand your piece with 400 grit sandpaper. This will ensure that the finished piece has that sleek, modern and polished lacquered finish. If your piece has dents, cracks or divots fill them with a wood filler, then sand filler.
STEP 3
Vigorously shake your Furniture Lacquer Primer for 2-3 minutes.
STEP 4
Using the Amy Howard at Home Furniture Lacquer Primer, hold the spray can 6-8 inches away from your piece and spray. Spray in a steady and consistent motion, as though you were brushing on the paint.
STEP 5
You want to make sure the Primer has 1-2 solid, opaque coats if for wood furniture and not meant for other materials such as metal or plastic. The primer will help to fill in the grains to produce a smoother and sleeker finish. This primer will also act as a “sealing agent” to ensure that colors from the original piece will not bleed through with supple woods, such as mahogany.
STEP 6 STEP 7 STEP 8 STEP 9
Before you apply the Amy Howard at Home Furniture Lacquer, lightly sand with 400 grit sandpaper the primer layer to soften out any rough spots. You do not have to sand it vigorously; simply sand it enough to ensure a consistent, smooth finish. Before moving onto the next step thoroughly wipe down your piece with a tack cloth to avoid undesirable build-up. Apply your chosen color of Amy Howard at Home Furniture Lacquer. Horizontal surfaces-holding tip about 6-8 inches from the surface, start at the area closest to you by spraying left to right to left moving away from you. Be sure that the spraying is consistent and overlap the applications. Vertical surfaces-holding tip about 6-8 inches from the surface, spray in the same manner but start at the top and work your way down spraying left to right to left. The application should be smooth and consistent for the best finish. Before applying your next coat be sure to lightly sand with 400 grit sandpaper and wipe down your piece with a tack cloth. It is recommended that you have 2-3 thin coats as opposed to 2 thicker coats. A lacquer finish is supposed to look sleek and solid. Take your time in apply- ing your coats. This will ensure that you have a sleeker more luscious finish in the long run. Now, Enjoy the Bragging Rights!™

Dust of Ages and Waxes Amy Howard At Home® Waxes can be used to create a soft satin patina, not to seal paint. Amy Howard At Home® Dust of Ages™ is a special detail that makes Amy Howard finishes authentic and unique. This powder aids in polishing wax topcoats to a subtle sheen and settles into crevices as if collected over hundreds of years.
HOW TO STEP 1
Dip a clean brush into the Light Antique Wax. You want just enough product to gently cover the bristle tips of your brush
STEP 2
Use a piece of a cardboard palette to ‘off-load’ some wax from your brush. You do not want your brush bristles to be overwhelmed with the wax.
STEP 3
Use your brush to saturate 100 percent of your piece with this wax. Do not neglect carvings and crevices. This consistent application is necessary to ensure that Dust of Ages will adhere to your piece.
STEP 4 STEP 5
Allow to tack for 15 minutes. The heavier the coat the longer the necessary dry time.
STEP 6
Use your cardboard to off-load your brush of the excess wax. You do not want your Dark Wax to be applied too heavy-handedly.
STEP 7
Use your brush to lightly brush over your piece on places where the piece would become naturally worn, like on the edges of the trim, the crevices of a cabinet door and any raised details. You do not want to cover every inch of your piece with the dark wax. Apply it deliberately and sparingly.
STEP 8
Allow your Dark Wax to dry to a tacky consistency.
STEP 9
Use the Amy Howard at Home Dust of Ages to cover your entire piece, pay specific attention to the crevices and ridges. This will give your piece age and character. Best used on pieces with carved areas. Does not show well on flat smooth surfaces.
STEP 10
Allow wax to dry one hour before buffing. Use a dry brush to ‘pounce or push’ the Dust into the corners, ridges and crevices. Really use your bristles to get the Dust down in there.
STEP 11
Brush the excess Dust off your piece and onto your palette, no need to waste it – put the excess right back into the container. It can be reused and saved for later.
STEP 12
Now, use your rag to buff your piece deliberately to get desired patina shine. This buffing will allow your piece to have that authentic aged look. The more you buff the more the piece will shine.
STEP 13
Now, Enjoy the Bragging Rights!™
Take another brush and dip it lightly into the Amy Howard at Home Dark Wax. Again, you do not want to overwhelm your brush with the wax. A little dab will be sufficient.

Antique Mirror The Amy Howard At Home速 Mirror Antiquing Kit includes the products you need to give the patina of age to mirrored glass. Use this kit in tandem with other Amy Howard At Home速 products to give a framed mirror the look of an Old World antique. Add antique mirror insets to a vanity or chest. Rescue one of the one million pieces of furniture thrown away annually for the ultimate recycling before and after.
14 | www.amyhowardathome.com
HOW TO
To begin find a well ventilated area for working. You will need a water source to rinse the mirror during the antiquing process. The work area should be protected by plastic tarp or an area that will not be damaged by mirror stripper. Temperature must be above 65 degrees F for the process to work. STEP 1
Place mirror face down on a non-abrasive surface.
STEP 2
Put on safety goggles and appropriate gloves to safely apply the stripper.
STEP 3
Shake the Amy Howard at Home Mirror Stripper vigorously. Apply stripper to mirror backing paint and promptly roll out stripper with paint roller. Use a paint roller with a natural or synthetic roller brush. Do not use a foam brush. You should have a uniform layer of stripper approximately 1/16” thick which completely covers the mirror’s back. Better to have a little more than less.
STEP 4
The backing paint will begin to bubble up and is ready to remove when entire back has bubbled up. This only takes minutes to complete.
STEP 5
Take a piece of kraft paper slightly larger than the mirror and lay it on the bubbled mirror backing paint and lightly pat it down. Slowly lift the kraft paper. The backing paint will lift up onto the kraft paper. If any backing paint is left on the mirror, apply small amount of stripper on backing paint, wait five minutes and place piece of kraft paper on that area and remove remaining backing paint. Consult your local EPA for appropriate disposal.
STEP 6
The silver of the mirror is now exposed. Be careful not to scratch the silver during the following processes.
STEP 7
Apply second coat of stripper to remove the gold color that is on mirror with your paint roller. Continue rolling until all of the gold color is removed.
STEP 8
Spray degreaser on back of mirror where the backing paint was removed and use rag to wipe off any excess stripper. Be very gentle cleaning the mirror so to prevent scratching through the exposed silver.
STEP 9
Rinse well with water to remove degreaser and allow mirror to dry.
STEP 10
Vigorously shake the Amy Howard at Home Antique Mirror Solution and pour amount to be used in a small plastic container large enough to place a soft cotton cloth into.
STEP 11 STEP 12 STEP 13 STEP 14 STEP 15
Soak rag in container of Antique Solution. Apply, the solution gently with the saturated cloth on the exposed silver. Use very small circular motions and apply over the entire area. Continue to apply until silver stays wet. Allow to set 5-10 minutes. The silver will turn dark during this process, but you will need to lift and look at front of mirror to see how intense the antiquing process is occurring. Continue to apply more Antiquing Solution to promote the antiquing process, checking the front of the mirror to see desired effect. This will take approximately 30 minutes but is dependent on temperature (the warmer the work area, the faster the process). For lighter antiquing, add water to the antiquing solution to dilute it. For a darker antique mirror, continue to apply the solution. When mirror has reached desired effect, rinse antique solution with water source and allow to dry. Apply Amy Howard at Home One Step Paint with a roller brush. We recommend two thin coats for best results. Allow first coat to dry to become dry to the touch before applying the second coat. Black is the best color for this. Now, Enjoy the Bragging Rights!™ www.amyhowardathome.com | 15
Zinc Solution Amy Howard At HomeŽ Zinc Antiquing Solution™ enables you to give unfinished sheet metal the look of aged zinc. Use the Antiquing Solution to oxidize and age the metal, then follow with an application of Light Wax to buff and seal. Annual maintenance applications of Light Wax are recommended to protect your piece. Take a plain metal desktop from standard to special, or add a unique top to your kitchen island. You can even create an aged zinc finish on metal candlesticks or containers.
16 | w w w . a m y h o w a r d a t h o m e . c o m
HOW TO PRO Tip: Before you start, know that if your piece of metal has scratches or marks on it, that is OK! It will make your Zinc piece look old and worn. These little marks or scratches add character. STEP 1
Make sure your piece is clean and clear of any dust or dirt. Simply wipe it down with a degreaser and a damp rag. Let piece dry entirely before moving onto Step 2.
PRO Tip: Rinse piece with water to remove any residual surfactant and allow to thoroughly dry. STEP 2
Put on gloves, shake the bottle vigorously and pour the Amy Howard at Home Zinc Solution into a durable container.
STEP 3
Dip the cotton rag into the Amy Howard at Home Zinc Solution allowing it to soak up the Zinc Solution. Do not over saturate your rag in the solution – if you feel that you have too much solution on your rag, lightly shake the rag above the plastic container.
STEP 4
Use your rag to lightly dab the metal. Dab and dot your rag in an organic composition and cover your piece of metal. Do not neglect the edges of your pieces. The piece should be thoroughly saturated in the Zinc Solution.
STEP 5
Zinc will begin to immediately separate on the metal. Use your cotton rag in a circular motion rub and pull the zinc solution to assist the oxidation process. Follow with an organic application of dab and dot with your cotton rag.
STEP 6
Once the oxidation process has begun, the piece of metal with the solution on top will begin to change colors.
PRO Tip: The more Zinc Solution used, the Darker the result. STEP 7
Continue to apply the Zinc Solution until desired color has been achieved.
STEP 8
Allow your piece to lie flat and dry for 30-45 minutes to dry.
STEP 9
Zinc Solution will dry into a lighter, more chalky finish.
STEP 10
Now, Enjoy the Bragging Rights!™
**If you are using this for a counter top, vanity or top of any piece of furniture, be sure and seal it with wax, but if you desire a more chalky, blue green finish, do not seal it.

Cracked Patina I have always loved the look of really grody and pulled finishes on antique pieces. I love knowing that there have been multiples applications of paint and colors over a period of time and that the years of layering of colors and wear have allowed the finish and cracking to take place. Hence we created a Cracked Patina finish that could be used on any color of your choice of One Step Paint. You can use your imagination by layering colors and pulled finishes with the Cracked Patina finish.
18 | www.amyhowardathome.com
HOW TO STEP 1
Start with a clean surface. Simply wipe it down with a degreaser and a damp rag. Let piece dry entirely before moving onto Step 2.
STEP 2
Apply first color of One Step paint, allow to dry for 20 to 30 minutes.
*Pro Tip: The best Patina finish is produced by using a lighter color as your first coat. STEP 3
Apply a uniform coat of Cracked Patina to entire piece. Do not neglect carvings, crevices and ridges. Allow the piece to dry for one hour.
PRO Tip: The more patina applied, the more crackled your piece will become. PRO Tip: If working on large flat surface the Patina can be more efficiently applied with a roller brush. STEP 4
Apply second color coat of One Step paint over the Cracked Patina. Make sure to apply this coat quickly and expeditiously as the crackling effect will begin to occur within minutes. You can do this process in sections as paint must be slightly wet in order to pull the paint to create texture. Don’t overlap the application of paint, or you will run into ‘double processin’ Apply in long, concise applications painting with the grain.
STEP 5
Watch closely and allow to dry for 2 to 3 minutes. Lay your clean brush flat and lightly and deliberately drag across your piece. This will get your paint moving and texturizing.
STEP 6
While your paint is still tacky, use the palm of your hands to further pull and move the paint for your desired finish. This will create even more depth and texture.
STEP 7
Allow to dry for one hour. After your piece has dried — you can elect to: Repeat this process as many times as you wish to create your desired cracked, layered and dimensional finish.
Create a more Antique Finish by referring to the Amy Howard at Home Dust of Ages and Waxes page 13. STEP 8
We recommend sealing your finished piece with the Amy Howard at Home Light Wax.
