The New Super-Fruit

Baobab, an exotic fruit from southern Africa, is now available in the UK for the first time and is set to be the health food of 2010. With triple the vitamin C of an orange, twice as much calcium as milk and double the antioxidants found in goji berries, baobab packs a powerful punch. Currently only available in its powdery pulp form, baobab is best used as a booster ingredient, mixed into anything from jams and smoothies to creative healthy dishes. www.yozuna.com

Foot care needs to be a top priority as even the most beautiful Jimmy Choos won’t hide badly neglected feet - nor mask the pain. So before investing in those killer heels, read Podiatrist Angela Battrick’s top tips for healthy fashionable feet. • Check www.feetforlife.org to find a HPC registered Podiatrist near you. They can help and advise on treating everything from unsightly toenails to painful corns and callouses. • Once you’ve got your feet in tip-top shape, keep up a regular regime of washing and drying well - especially between the toes - and moisturise daily. • Neglect heels at your peril! The area withstands massive pressure, especially when you’re wearing sling-backs. Use a heel cream containing Urea as it’s the body’s natural moisturiser. • Keep killer heels for special occasions, as they put a lot of pressure on your forefoot. If you find a heel more comfortable than flats, experiment with lower heights for everyday wear. • Remember, the shape of the toe box is very important - your toes need some wiggle room! • No shoe, regardless of style, is going to be comfortable if you’re wearing the wrong size. Get measured, and check that your shoes fit you correctly in both width and length. • Gel pads to cushion your forefoot will help make heels comfier, as will the new insert - designed by an American podiatrist and a rocket scientist - which helps shift the weight on your foot, leaving you able to comfortably wear your heels much longer.
