CURRICULUM VITAE | 31 - 32 |

IMBIBE: (a) Salt works HYDROPHILIC LANDSCAPE

The project occupies the Bay of Tangier acting as a intermediate zone that engages a number of converging trajectories, of program, view and material. The main functions are desalination, salt harvasting and water purification.

TRACINGS

THESIS SITE

TANGIER |

A mini project to establish a work proccess and skills to utlise on site in Tangier, Morocco. Location: National Sculpture Factory, Cork. | 2 week project |

Tangier was the city in which we had to investigate and generate our individal and unique architectural ambitions. The stark cultral and contextual contrast pushed our architectual understandings and v.

SITE CONTEXTUAL PLAN

The thesis of the project is shown through the linking of the fluid landscape and the context, both visually and functionally. The architectural elements within the landscape are connected, with all the elements connection to eachother and the enviroment.

5

6

CONTEXTUAL RECORDING

TIME MAPPING

The site is a panoranic viewpoint. This drawing represents visual anchor points, which are documented and augmeted through isolation.

The continuium of time and its destructive power is depicted in the time mapping drawing. The projects acknowledges the corrosive nature of the water and time acting upon the metal materiality of the architectural elements.

A specific route was taken along the fringe of the site and a series of viewpoints/links were established, through photography. 7

8

WORKING MODELS

An ever evolving theme of mixing organic material with inorganic metals, was explored through a series of models.

FILM STILLS- Exploring emerging Vistas.

Salt soaked netting was used to cloak the metal models, causing corrosion and rusting.

MONITOR TOWER Plan of the monitor tower.

| SALT CRYSTAL |

Sectional Elelvation of the Monitor tower. Time, decay and enviromental factors are recorded and stored within the floating tower. Devices are lowered into the water and winched up by the Monitor onto the platform.

FORMING THE HYDRO-SCAPE

A series of vessels floated in the body of water, tethered to the sea floor. The collective created a hydro-scape of connected and symbiotic elements.

SITE -TANGIER: NEW CONTEXTUAL SITUATION.

The project underwent a distoration, in which the site emerged and formed within a new space. The thesis occupied an Eighteenth century water pump house. The project mimics and resonates within the functional history trapped within the walls.

16

LINKING THE EXHIBITION SPACE WITH THE PROJECT The lifetime lab adds a real context both historically and physically to the project. The historical steam engines influence and add a 1:1 scale to the exhibition and the architecture. The room acts as both a room within a tower in the architectural landscape at a scale of 1:1 and as a context that relates to the site at a scale of 1:100. The room is a representational link to the site in Tangier. There are similarities with both sites being disconnected from the city and connected to a body of water. The exhibition space relates directly with the thematic concerns of waterworks and view.

The building's plan mimicks the Cromeleque Dos Almendres' arrangment. As one walks up the inclined path, the roof line emerges from within the canopy of trees. I have worked on numerous architecture competition over the course of my work in the firm. In 2015, I was part of the team that won the pitch for the Canadian Canoe Musuem in Petersbrouough, Ontario Cananda, a multi- million dollar contract. Working within the competitions has taught me how to work efficiently and well as part of a team. Working towards a dead line in an organised and productive manner is essential when presenting a competition. I independently generated ideas for the concept(s) and concisely presented them to my team. I am currently on two active projects that are under construction, one being the National Gallery of Ireland and the other student housing for Maynooth University. Time management and prioritising my tasks is crucial to the balancing of both demanding projects. I liaise with both the client and the construction contractor, where I negoiating time and quality of the building elements being produced. It is vital to produce accurate, concise and detailed designs on time. I have worked both in a team and individually on architecture competitions outside of work. I am also working on a design proposal for a housing extension. I completed an office fit out proposal for the Cork city Council. | 2016 |
