Harvard Park Pre School Isleworth: April Newsletter 2015 News from the Managers, Nicki and Tracey and Deputy Manager, Natalie – We hope everyone is having / had / or will have a lovely Easter break, depending on when you read this newsletter. Firstly we would like to say a sad goodbye to Erin as she is leaving us at the end of March. We would like to thank her for everything and we know the children as well as the staff will miss her presence. Amy is going to be replacing her and will be joining us after the Easter break, so make sure you say hello! At some point during the month of April, you should hear about your child’s reception place. As and when you find out could you please inform us so we can get the ball rolling for their transitions? If you have applied for a nursery place, you should hear around the month of May. Just a reminder, we are closed from Monday 30 th-Friday 10th of April for Easter half term!
News from Natalie, Danielle, Seema, Diluni, Rosa, Jeanna, Marilyn, Amy, Anusha, Sian and Lacey: If you have borrowed clothes from the pre-school please could you return them? We are running very low on girls trousers and if we have nothing to change your child into, we will have to ring you to come and pick them up from the setting. Same with wellington boots, if you have borrowed them please return them ASAP, thank you. Please make sure you have as sufficient amount of clothes so that we are able to change your child especially if they are potty training. Our theme for this will be split into two. We will be looking at ourselves and our abilities as well as our progress since we have been at preschool. Alongside this we will be looking at one of our favourite topics mini-beasts and growing! As summer will be approaching and spring has sprung, bugs and flowers will start appearing. In the past, this has captured the imagination of children in our care and it is one we revisit year after year. Our activities will include planting, creating our own bugs and mini beasts, exploring our outside area to see if we can find mini-beasts and exploring the idea of growth and changes over time. This links into ourselves and our abilities as we will be discussing our abilities now and when we were babies, the differences between us and our friends and what makes us special and unique. You can encourage your child at home by allowing them to develop their independence skills such as pouring their own cereal or buttering their toast. You can also set them small achievable targets to build their self-esteem, such as to do ten jumps while counting them or walking to the end of the road and back. We would like you, as parents, to get involved in their learning journals. Well done if you have and please see your key worker if you haven’t. We have a parent’s page and some of them are looking a bit empty. Your keyworker will provide you with white sticky labels for you to jot down a few things your have been up to at the weekend, during the week or even in the evenings. This can be as simple as any new words your child presents to you or something that they have never done before. Mission of the month: - Create an Easter diary! Your challenge over the Easter break will be to create a diary of all the exciting things you get up to over Easter. You can draw pictures, print pictures and create a little booklet to share with your peers when we return to the setting.
Just a few notes to start off the month of April:• Please it is very important that your child does not bring anything containing NUTS into the pre-school setting as we do have children and staff who have a NUT ALLERGY!!! • Please start labelling your child’s clothing especially hats, coats and gloves as we are having trouble with some children wearing the same colour and the same type of coats. If you would like us to do so, simply say. • Some parents have requested that they collect their children at 3.30 due to horrid weather. If you would like this option please let the staff know and we will have a group of children in the office room ready and waiting to go home – the other children will stay in the big room tidying up and reading stories or singing songs. • Please phone in if your child will not be attending their session. We do keep a track of if they are attending or not so it is important for us to know when they will not be in and for what reason. Big well done to all your parents who have been encouraging either walking or riding to preschool! We now have a scooter park where your child can park their scooters as well as use them during their sessions. Less buggies are better for us as we have lack of storage as you can see. Remember once you collect your child from their groups, they are your responsibility so DO NOT let them push the door handle to let themselves out. ADULTS ONLY!!!!!! We would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Seema, Lacey and Diluni from our Harvard Park team. We would also like to wish Amelia, Aalia, Rashid, James, Yusuf, Jojo and Hawa a very happy birthday! Please could parents/carers bring in fruit so we can share it during our snack time? You are doing great so keep it up! Please avoid kiwis as we have a child who has an allergy, thank you!
We have noticed that some parents are still parking next to parked cars outside the school gates - please do not do this! PLEASE REFRAIN FROM USING THE STAFF CAR PARK AT ANYTIME EVEN IF THE BARRIER IS UP AS THEY DO HAVE CAMERAS AND HARVARD PARK DO GET INTO TROUBLE IF OUR PARENTS ARE SEEN DRIVING IN. THANK YOU. Can parents please join our Facebook site as we are trialling our newsletters on our new site to save our trees! Just type in Harvard Park Pre-school and Day Nursery into your search engine (i.e. Google) and we should pop up! We regularly update this page with pictures, messages and notices. We will of course print off a few copies for those parents who do not have access to a computer. We will also display a copy on our Parents Table.
