Harvard Park Pre- School LTD.
Notes from the management team: We would like to welcome all of our new children and families to our Pre-School! We would like to start off with some very sad news. Eva will be leaving us on Friday 22nd April as she is having a change of career and our Manager Natalie is off to be the Manager of a specialist neurological nursery - her last day will also be on Friday 22nd April. During this time Nicki, Tracey, Amy and Carol will be over to support the setting until our new Manager starts in September 2022. Her name is Poonam and she will be using her days off to come in, introduce herself and become familiar with the setting, staff and children from June. We would also like to welcome a new member to the team -Tavnish! If you have any worries or concerns about the future of the Pre-School and it’s team, please know that we are always at the end of the phone, face to face meeting or an email. This has come as a shock to us all and we will be very sad to lose them but we would like to say a huge thank you for their hard work and dedication to the children and the Pre-School over the years they have been with us. Other reminders include: •
Did you know that Working parents could get up to £2,000 a year to pay for regulated childcare, including holiday clubs and out-of-school activities in the Easter holidays? We have sent you a link in the ParentMail with this newsletter which outlines how this works and where you can apply for it. •
We would also like to day Happy 29th Birthday to the Pre-School who will be celebrating on Wednesday 20th April—we will be celebrating with some cake and balloons on the day to say happy birthday to Harvard Park!

Reminders:
Snack fee’s: Remember these need to be paid at the beginning of a half term - always in advance never in arrears. Late fee’s will be applied where necessary.
Morning Session’s: We are moving our pick up time slightly. This is due to the children waiting for too long to go home after group time and it is causing a lot of upset. The gate will now be open from 11:25 to 11:30 am to pick up your children. Thank you for your support.
Completing your set homework: We have set homework which runs for a period of 6 weeks to co-inside with your children’s targets at pre-school. Please try your best to follow through with it as it helps them to move forward in their development and understanding of the world.
Snacks in bags or packed lunches: We are a healthy eating setting and we encourage healthy snacks. Children should not be coming into the setting with snacks in their bags or packed lunches unless you have arranged this with the manager. We have staff and children with severe allergies and it’s extremely important that we manage what foods are in the building.
Please let us know if you are not attending pre-school.

Notes from your Pre-School Teachers: Jeanna, Eva, Sima, Roshelle, Shalyna, Cathy and Tavnish: Focus: Mini-Beasts and Growing! When we return after the half term on Wednesday 20th April, we will begin looking at our topic of MiniBeasts and Growing. For those of us going to school in September, we will be starting our school transition talks and activities such as new school visits, dressing up in uniforms and role play, making school booklets and talking about the changes we will face and how we feel about this. As soon as you know which school your child will be attending, please let us know! We have begun to introduce The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle at group times. If you have this story at home, please read and look at it when you can to help familiarise your child with the structure and language involved. We will focus more on the story when we return next term so during the holidays maybe you could set some time aside to have a look at it at home. Homework reminder: Could you please support your children with the set homework that we add to your child’s observations each month. This will help you to understand what your child is enagaing with on a weekly basis as well as strengthening their learning both at home and nursery. We understand that life is busy but setting aside 5-10 minutes at day to complete the homework will have a great impact on their development and concentration. In our phonics groups, we are learning a new set of letters. We are moving onto m , d , g, o, c, k next term. We will also be learning the names of these letters and continuing to use the Jolly Phonics rhymes for these sounds which you can access on YouTube at home. Simply type in Jolly phonics and you will get the range of video’s and rhymes which we use. Reminders:
The weather is changing - please make sure you are bringing in a coat/thick jacket and sturdy shoes so we can continue to go out and get our daily dose of fresh air. Please also make sure that their outfits are also reflective of the weather - no thin summer dresses or shorts, it is not warm enough for that yet.
If your child is in nappies, please ensure there is enough in their daily bags for around 3/4 changes. If you child is potty training and you are using the pull up method, please make sure there are enough pull ups in their bags too. The needs to be more than one supplied every session please.
If you are having trouble registering for either ParentMail or EyLog (they are sperate applications which you need to download) then please speak to a member of the team.
Snacks in bags or packed lunches: Children should not be coming into the setting with snacks in their bags or packed lunches unless you have arranged this with the manager. We provide snack.
