Harvard Park Pre- School LTD.
Notes from the management team: With the restrictions being lessened and we are being encouraged to be outside more, please remember the COVID-19 symptoms. If you, your child or anyone in your household is showing symptoms - please stay at home. We have a duty of care to protect our staff and the other children in our care. If anyone has a new or continuous cough or temperature - please stay at home and inform us. We have done an amazing job so far so let’s keep it up! To our morning parents, our numbers are beginning to increase and therefore staff cannot go back and forth to the gate. Please arrive before 8:45 am - as after this time you will be marked down as late on our register and you will have to wait until someone is available to let you in. Please remember to use our ParentMail system to inform us of sickness or absences - we check this everyday and it is really helpful! If your child has an accident or hospital visit while they are not at pre-school, this needs to be reported to the pre-school staff member on the gate or emailed/messaged in to us so we are able to give the correct aftercare. It is also your duty of care to report any accidents to us so we are aware of them. We would like to welcome Kirandeep and Tanya to our Harvard Park Team - they will be joining us over the next 2 weeks. Have a Easter break and we will see you on Tuesday 20th April!
Clothing and the weather: Please check the weather before you leave your house
Term dates and closures: We are closed from Wednesday 31st March at 1:00 pm to Monday 19th April. Birthdays for the month of April :
Please do not be fooled by the warm days we are having - Please continue to bring in a coat for your child. Where necessary swap a winter hat for a summer cap! Children MUST be dressed in trousers and jumpers with t-shirts/vests underneath. We are keeping the doors open to keep a constant flow of clean air through the room to reduce the level of germs within the building. This means no summer dresses or skirts with tights!
Reminders: Follow the flow and wear your face mask: this is very important for you to be doing especially with the spread of infection! Follow the school flow which is painted on the ground - the school are monitoring this and feeding back to us.
Happy 3rd birthday to Kairo, Liam and Khyson! We hope you all have a lovely day!
As and when children get their school reception places, please inform us so we can begin the transition process with the children and prepare them for this change. If you will be staying with us for another year, you do not need to re-enroll you just need to inform the nursery managers. If your child is suffering with Hayfever please inform us and bring in allergy relief medication.
Harvard Park Pre- School LTD.
Notes from your Pre-School Teachers: Jeanna, Eva, Lucy, Sima, Asha, Roshelle, Kirandeep and Tanya: Focus: Mini-Beasts and Growing Our topic this term is going to be mini-beasts and growing. We will be exploring the garden and looking at changes in the environment such as plants blossoming and weather changes. We will be engaging in minibeasts hunts, looking at the shape and colour of different insects and the habitat or where they live. We will also be developing our counting skills by counting the mini beasts we find and comparing the features of them to find out what is similar and what is different. It is such a large category which covers all areas of development and one where the children get lots of new learning and experiences. Our focus story will be “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” so if you have this book at home, could you please read it with your child to support their learning at pre-school. If you don’t have the book, you can find the story being read a loud on YouTube - then you could listen together. Some of the children will be moving onto new schools by the end of the school year, when you find out where they will be going, please let us know so we can begin to work on the transition process. It is important to ensure that the children are fully supported when transitioning to a new school and they are ready. We prepare them about what will be different about their new school, the routine or changes in routine they will have as well as the changes to their day. We talk about how it may feel during this time so it is important that when you know where they will be going in September, let us know so we can also support you in the process too. Targets to work on @ home Encourage your child to drink water at home - we encourage it here but a lot of children will take the other option on offer. Water is important for brain function so please encourage this as we do here. Labeling language - To encourage language development, please make sure you are labelling items. By this we mean not just handing children a t-shirt, for example “now we put on your red t-shirt” or “can you pass me the blue plate?”. This is something we focus on at nursery and would be very helpful for you to do at home too. Make sure you as a family are keeping active. Home yoga, meditation and bend and stretch are all great ways of keeping active. There are a few YouTube channels that can help with this - CosmicKids is one of them! Reminders: No food or toys in backpacks or pre-school bags: Please make sure that you are not bringing food in your child’s school bags without informing a practitioner. We have some severe allergies at the setting and if we find children snacking from their bags, it can cause allergic reactions in other children. Please be mindful about what you have packed or check before you leave the house to make sure there is nothing harmful in their bags (including medication). Please do not also bring toys from home - we are not responsible for these and if they go missing it is not our responsibility.
A message for those who bring a packed lunch for wrap around care: Please do not pack any nuts of any kind this includes peanuts! We have children and a staff member who are severely allergic to peanuts. Please also do not provide rice, we do not re-heat food of any kind therefore children will be eating cold rice.
Dates for you diary and reminders: If your child was born between 01/09/17 and 31/08/18 - you can apply for school nursery if you would like to.
