Harvard Park Day Nursery Feltham: August Newsletter 2016. News from the Managers, Nicki and Tracey and Deputy Manager, Carol –

Firstly, we would like to wish Nabila a happy birthday for this month. We would also like to say Goodbye to those of you who are leaving us this month. We feel very privileged that you chose us to give your child their first steps into education. We wish you all the best for the future and keep in touch! We also have to say some sad goodbyes to our staff. Pauline, Kulwinder and Nabila will all be leaving us at the end of this month. All 3 of these wonderful ladies have given us their knowledge and hard-work for over 5 years and we will miss them all dearly. We would like to wish them all the best for their future and stay in touch! We would also like to welcome Nabila into Freedom Zone. She will introduce herself during the course of this week. A reminder for our funded children who are leaving to go to school or nursery: you last funded day will be Friday 26th August. If after this date you need to stay on, you will be charged for these. Please see the managers if you have any questions or queries. Please inform us of your last day with us!  You will all be receiving new invoices within the first few weeks of August which include our price increase from September the 1 st. Please read any emails you may receive from us. They often include important information. This is a message to all rooms: Please sign your child in and out of the building when you arrive and leave. This document is in aid of child-protection and health and safety. If in a fire evacuation, we use this to register the children to see who is present. We also use it to regularly head count during the day. DO not use your phones whilst in the room. Our practitioners have the right to ask you to move to the lobby if they see you on your mobile. It is a safeguarding and child-protection issue. Can we please remind you that on birthdays, please avoid bringing in sweets. Raisins, snack packets or fresh fruit are fine. We are a healthy eating setting and this is something we pride ourselves on. If you are providing cake, Supermarket character cakes are fine, fresh cakes need to come with a list of ingredients. With regards to party bags, these are ok but all parents must take full responsibility for them. We cannot be held accountable for them. If you would like to provide a gift such as a book or music CD for the room that would be fine too.

News from Baby Studio –Simran, Mary, Marisa, Esra, Sherry and Nehar : Hello, we would like to welcome Sherry from Freedom Zone into our room. We would also like to say goodbye to Shayan, Tanya, Tanay, Maksim, Nilan and Rohan who will be moving up to Small steps during the month. A few reminders for this month: - Please supply a small bottle of sun cream clearly labelled with your child’s name. As we will be spending lots of time outside, please also supply us with a sun hat. You can get small children’s bottles from the local supermarkets and pharmacies. - Labelling clothes and bottles: we can do this for you just ask us. There is a lot of confusion between bottles and belongings. We do have over 16 children in our care and if they all have the same bottle, top or baby grow it can become confusing. A simple name on a bottle can be a great help. - Please provide at least 3 or 4 changes of clothes (including baby grows). Babies do have accidents, their nappies may leak and they will have fun feeding themselves at meal times. If you have any of our spares, please return them to us as we are running a little low. If you do not want your child’s designer clothes to get dirty, please send them in old belongings. - Please call if you are running late, not attending or are sick. We do plan walks and trips out and if we are waiting on you and you don’t turn up our other children will miss out  - If your child has had medication i.e. Calpol, nurofen, salbutamol inhaler, before attending the Can parents please join our Facebook site as we are trialling our news letters on our new site to save our trees! We will of course print of a few copies to those parents who do not have access to a computer. We will also display a copy on our parents table. .

Full time child will have their own pegs and part time children will share. Please bear with us while we try to sort this out. Thank You  Our Year books are ready to purchase! They are £2 each and feature all the children who are graduating from Harvard Park this year. Please inform us if you would like one. Please can you provide a small bottle of sun cream clearly labelled with your child’s name? We do spend a lot of time outside and when the sun is out we do teach them about sun protection. Please also bring in a hat with their name in as we only have a few spares currently in the setting. We will be continuing our transition talks and summer holiday theme. We will be transforming our garden into a holiday destination, using the sandpit as a beach, creating our own transport and talking about what we might do when we are on holiday. If your child does not have an all about me box, please make one as soon as possible if they are staying with us for another year. If you are unsure of what these are please as your key worker. As from September, we will no longer be accepting water bottles. We have a water station in the room where children can freely access water. Bottles are not being taken home and they are not our responsibility to be kept clean. As they move up from small steps, they can have a water bottle for their settling in weeks, after this we will ask you to stop bringing it in. All children are capable of drinking out of cups and this is what we would like to encourage. Please take all water bottles home at the end of the day along with any belongings, nappy bags and artwork which maybe in their cubby holes. Please remember to sign your child both in and out when they are in the setting. we will remind you when possible but please do this on your way out. Please be aware of what you are taking home. Ensure that you are taking the correct jumpers, coats, hats or any other belongings.
