Notes from the management team: Nicki, Tracey and our deputy manager Carol As we are making our way towards the end of 2021, we would like to take this time to say a huge thank you for your continued support. Without you and your families, Harvard Park would not be in the position it is today so thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We would also like to take this time to say a very sad goodbye to Paulina from Small Steps. She will be leaving us on Thursday 17th and we will all miss her very much - we wish you all the best and keep in touch! •
Thank you to those parents who have been collapsing your buggies, if this is not you please can you start to fold them down as we will be utilising the lobby space as a learning area and not just for storage.

Birthdays for the month of December:
Wash and sterilise all cups and bottles when they come home with your child. We only rinse them here and the setting and over time residue can build up in straws and spouts. This can then cause mould which isn't very nice. Please make sure you take your bottles a part and clean them thoroughly.
Baby Studio: Happy 1st birthday to Rajishanti! Small Steps: Happy 2nd birthday to Jonas and Aditya! Freedom Zone: Happy 4th birthday to Theo! Staff: Happy birthday to Nicki, Afsha, Harriet, Michaela, Sherry, Amy and Nabila!
Harvard Park Day Nursery LTD.
Notes from Baby Studio: Ducklings - Amanda, Mary, Afsha and Martina: Focus: Christmas and Winter Fun! Firstly, we would like to welcome Ayodeji and say goodbye to Aariv and Hazel who are moving up to Small Steps this month! This month we will be doing lots of Christmas activities which cover the three prime areas of learning including looking at Christmas stories, craft activities and of course dancing to Christmas songs! We have also created a “Winter Wonderland” in our soft area for the children to experience winter in a warm and cosy environment. If you celebrate Christmas at home, let your baby help decorate the Christmas tree or house - it is a great way to let them explore things like colour, texture and in some cases smell. Reminders: All the dates and celebrations leading up to Christmas can be found on the last page of this newsletter. There will also be reminders via the EyLog Messages and ParentMail. Try to keep your child’s nails as short as possible to stop them from scratching themselves. If you struggle to trim them when they are awake, try when they are sleeping.
We will continue to go out on walks so make sure your child’s coat is thick and warm. Please start providing woolly or warm hats as well as we don’t not have any spares at the setting. Where your child attends all day, please provide 2 bottles for milk times - 1 for the morning and 1 for the afternoon - thank you.
Target @ home : When you are out and about shopping or walking through the high street, take some time to look at the different decorations. It is great for sensory development!
Notes from Small Steps: Bunnies - Qani, Paulina, Gurpreet, Harriet and Sonia Focus: Christmas! Firstly we would like to welcome Aariv and Hazel who are moving up into our room from Baby Studio. We would like to say goodbye to Kiara and Aaron who are making the leap into Freedom Zone too! Lastly we would like to say a very sad goodbye to Paulina who is moving to Poland - we will miss you very much and thank you for everything! Her last day will be Thursday 17th December. This month we will be focusing on everything festive whilst incorporating our children’s individual targets. We will be creating our own Christmas Decorations, learning new words such as Santa, Reindeer, Presents and Christmas Tree, singing some Christmas songs and of course music and movement! We will be sending creations and art work home throughout December. Reminders: All the dates and celebrations leading up to Christmas can be found on the last page of this newsletter. There will also be reminders via the EyLog Messages and ParentMail. Please start providing woolly or warm hats AND gloves : We do go outside in all weathers and it is beginning to get cold. Notes from Freedom Zone: Cool Cats - Viviana, Charlotte, Sam, Sherry, Ellie, Nabila, Saptati , Michaela and Danielle Focus: Christmas and all things Festive! As we welcome in December, Can we please ask that all children are bring in warm and thick coats, a woolly hat with gloves and a scarf. We do not have any spares on site and the weather is cold. We do not keep children from being outside as fresh air is important - so please bring them in! Children can now bring in their water bottles to encourage drinking water, we will be sending them how at the end of everyday. We will be looking at the story of Christmas so if you do not want your child to take part in this learning, please let a practitioner from your room or your child’s key worker know. We will adapt our activities where possible. We will have lots of activities for the children to engage with over the month of December including creating their own Decorations, learning new songs and language focused around the celebration of Christmas and going out for walks around the local area to look at decorations. If you are creating anything at home such as decorations, maybe get your child to bring one in for us so we can use it at group times like a ‘show and tell’. This will be a great confidence boost for children as they can show their friends and teachers. Similarly if you are going to any Christmas Markets, lights or displays/shows, post pictures on the EyLog and we can show the children using our tablets! If you require a Christmas card list, please ask at pick up or drop off times. Reminders: All the dates and celebrations leading up to Christmas can be found on the last page of this newsletter. There will also be reminders via the EyLog Messages and ParentMail. We will be sending all bags home over the Christmas period for you to replenish stock and possibly change the clothes in there if they are for summer or not longer fit.
Please do not send in toys from home: We are not responsible for toys from home. If they go missing while at the setting, we cannot be held accountable for this. Where possible please avoid bringing toys in as they cause more upset when they go missing or have to remain in the child’s bag. If you use them to get them out of the house, please take them away with you when you drop off.
The weather is changing - please make sure you are bringing in a coat/thick jacket and sturdy shoes so we can continue to go out on regular walks and get our daily dose of fresh air. Please also make sure that their outfits are also reflective of the weather - no thin summer dresses or shorts.
Completing your set homework: We have set homework which runs for a period of 6 weeks to co-inside with your children’s targets at nursery. Please try your best to follow through with it as it helps them to move forward in their development and understanding of the world.
If you have been asked for new or updated family photo’s please send these through as soon as possible. We would like to make books for areas which reflect the children's home life such as teeth brushing or cooking and eating at home. Please also send through some photo’s of these activities so we can develop this in Freedom Zone.
