Harvard Park Day Nursery LTD.

Notes from the management team: Nicki, Tracey and our deputy manager Carol With the restrictions being lessened and we are being encouraged to be outside more, please remember the COVID-19 symptoms. If anyone has a new or continuous cough or temperature please stay at home and inform us. If your child’s cough has not disappeared after a week - please seek medical advice. We cannot stress this enough - if our staff go sick, we have no cover and we will have to close the nursery. If your child is unwell - do not send them in to us, keep them at home! If your child comes to nursery and they are coughing all the way through breakfast time, please expect a call to come and collect them. It is not fair for the child, the children at the setting and our staff members. When you are picking up your child who has been away from you all day, please put your phone away or wait until your phone call is finished to ring our door bell. It is disheartening for your child when you don’t greet them in the same way they great you. Please put the phone away and speak to your child about their day, it will boost their self-esteem and self-confidence. Lateness: If you are running late or think your maybe late picking up, please call us. It is polite and we can prepare your child if they are the last ones here. Where possible, please be here at 5:50pm for sufficient feedback. Staff have duties they need to complete before they can go home to ensure the nursery is safe and clean for the next day.

General Cleanliness: Please make sure you are bathing your children regularly. We know time may run away with you in the evening but it is important for their hygiene that they have regular baths or showers. Also where possible, if you or someone in your household is a smoker please be aware of your child’s belongings such as their school coat and bag. Smoke and the smell of smoke lingers very heavily on clothing. It is not very pleasant for the child wearing the clothes and it can affect their self-esteem.

Are you going to Reception or School Nursery? If you have not let us know, please do so as we need to support your child with their transition! Your child’s EyLog Memories are for sale by preorder only! We will be doing a small graduation concert but this will only be for the children, this will be included in your order if you order your EyLog memories with us - please see the attached poster for the details.

Dates for you diary and reminders: End of Term Party dates: Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd July - this maybe subject to change. More details will follow either in an email or ParentMail.

Please do not park outside the front of the building on the path, If we see this we will be asking you to move your car before dropping off. We do not want to get into trouble with the neighbours or the council - thank you. •

Leavers: If you have a last day in mind, please let us know as soon as possible. Thank You:

Notes from Baby Studio: Ducklings - Simran, Mary, Amanda and Martina: Focus: Physical Development - Co-ordination and fine motor skills. Firstly, could we please ask you to label all of your child’s belongings not just bottles. We have children coming in with the same things such as dummies, jumpers and bags. Small initials on the bag handle or on a label and for the dummies on the handle of the dummy will be fine. This will help us and avoid some confusion we recently have been having. Thank you. This month we will be focusing on physical development as we have a few new walkers in our room. We will plan lots of fun messy activities to encourage co-ordination and fine motor skills which relates to pinching, grasping and using utensils. These will include home made sand with different tools, jelly play with cups and bottles and lots of different mark making activities! Reminders: 

Please provide a hat and sensible shoes for our outing trips to stay warm - we only have no spares left! We will be going out on a lot more walks when the weather improves so a warm coat and shoes are necessary. At bath time, please cut or trim your child’s nails to a short length for the safety of your child and others. We are still having children scratching themselves where their nails are too long. If your child does not like having it done, you could try while they are asleep. Target @ home : Send us pictures of your children enjoying and playing outside. Get out and about, run, walk or crawl around your environment to explore the world around them.

Notes from Small Steps: Bunnies - Qani, Paulina, Gurpreet, Afsha and Sonia Focus: Messy Play We will be having a buzzer installed around the 11th of June so hopefully you will no longer have to bang the gate! We are hoping it will be this date but it may change so please bear with us while we get this sorted. This month’s topic is quite self-explanatory. The children will be getting very messy so be warned - do not put your best clothes on when it is a nursery day and please provide plenty of spare sets. We have attached a flyer on the importance of messy play in case you are wondering why we have a focus on this sort of play. It helps children to discover their likes and dislikes as well as supporting sensory development! Reminders: Do not send your child without a coat! Our garden is shaded until around 3:00pm so it is cold out there in the mornings. We do not have spare coats at nursery so please make sure you are providing one. Thank You Task @ home: Continue to encourage self-feeding, yoghurts and small spoons are always the best to start with and post pictures on the EyLog of their achievements! Try some messy play at home with your children - simple activities such as bubbles in a bowl of water or cooking up a little bit of spare pasta to play with all support what we are doing at nursery too. Dates for you diary and reminders: •

Notes from Freedom Zone: Cool Cats - Viviana, Charlotte, Sam, Sherry, Ellie, Nabila, Saptati , Elvia and Danielle Focus: Children’s interests and exploring music Due to the weather being so bad at the end of May, we have been unable to do our teddy bears picnic or sport’s week. So hopefully with the changes in weather and the sun making an appearance we will aim to do both of these by the end of the month! We will give you enough notice with regards to bringing a teddy bear in for the Teddy Bear’s Picnic. For the first 2 weeks we are going to focus on our children’s interests. We have a lot of children who have a great interest in superhero’s, paw patrol and princesses - we call this character play. We are integrating these into our pretend and role play as much as possible to help the children with their creative and expressive play. The further two weeks we are going to look at expressing movement to music and exploring instruments. For the older children alongside transitions, we will be using instruments to work on things like rhythm and pattern. We will be filming a small graduation concert however this will be for the children only. At this time due to Covid Restrictions and our policies in place, parents will not be allowed to attend however it will be filmed and added to your child’s USB when purchasing the EyLog Memories. Please see the attached poster for more details and place your order as soon as possible. Reminders: 

Children can now bring in water bottles - they will stay here and go home at the end of the week. Although the weather is gradually changing, please make sure you are bringing in layers in bags and brining a coat just in case. Our garden is shaded for the most part of the day and is very cold even though the sun is shining! If your child has a cough, temperature or are unwell - do not bring them in. We have had a lot of children off and now the staff are also becoming ill - if we have no staff the room will have to close. Please keep your child off if they have a cough and seek medical advice if they have had it for more than a week.

Our keyworkers are sending your children their homework via the EyLog and we have had some response from parents but we would like to see more. Please try and work on these over the weekend as we spend a lot of time preparing these to support your children at home and work towards our parent in partnership.

Teddy Bear’s picnic : we are aiming for the week of the 21st June. Sport’s week we are aiming for the week of the 28th June but we will send out reminders on ParentMail.
