If you, your child or anyone in your household is showing symptoms - please stay at home. We have a duty of care to protect our staff and the other children in our care. If anyone has a new or continuous cough or temperature - please stay at home and inform us. We have done an amazing job so far so let’s keep it up! Birthday reminder : Please email us to let us know if you will be bringing in a cake for us to share among the children. If we have too many cakes on one day, we will either send some home with the children or keep it for another day to share. Thank you for letting us know where your child will be going to in September if they are reception age. If there any changes to the information you have given us such as they will be going to a different school or you have been accepted somewhere else; Please let us know as we have to forward paperwork to schools regarding your child’s current development. If you will be staying with us for another year, you do not need to re-enrol you just need to inform the nursery. School nursery places are normally announced in May so if you have applied and received your notification - please let us know too. We would like to wish Elvia well on her maternity cover which starts this month. Her last day with us will be Friday 28th May and we cannot wait to meet the baby! Thank You:

Notes from Baby Studio: Ducklings - Simran, Mary, Amanda and Martina: Focus: Communication and Language plus our Teddy Bear’s Picnic! Firstly we would like to welcome Shivaryan, Daphne and Ayra to our room! We would like to say goodbye to Isaiah and Kabir as they move up to Small Steps! This month we will be focusing on communication and language by encouraging the babies to develop their language and use of single words. We will do this through a variety of planned activities with opportunities for the children to babble and imitate words. Activities will include song bags and our knock knock boxes, labelling at meal times and also listening to music! Our Teddy Bear’s Picnic is a yearly tradition and fits in really well with this month’s focus. Please could you bring in a teddy from home for them to play with in the nursery environment, you can leave the teddy here for a week. We will use the teddies to plan picnics which will also encourage language and socialising. Reminders: Please provide a hat and sensible shoes for our outing trips to stay warm - we only have a few spares. At bath time, please cut or trim your child’s nails to a short length for the safety of your child and others. The last feed in the Baby Studio is at 3:30 pm so this means that your child maybe a little hungry when you get home. A light dinner or a milk bottle may be required when you get home. Target @ home : Communicate with us on the EyLog by sending us photo’s and video’s of what your child does at home. We can link it to our EYFS which helps support your baby in reaching their milestones - we need you to support our learning at nursery by sending observations from home!

Notes from Small Steps: Bunnies - Qani, Paulina, Gurpreet, Afsha and Sonia Focus: Physical Development Firstly, We would like to welcome Sonia from Freedom Zone, Kabir and Isaiah from Baby Studio and Kaiyan, Ayansh and Alice to our Small Steps room! We would also like to say goodbye to Sherry, Elvia, Amanvir, Zion and Harjind who are all moving into Freedom Zone - we wish you the best of luck! This month will be focusing on our Physical development area of the EYFS through a range of different activities. These will include hand eye co-ordination, balancing, ball games, using and climbing with nursery equipment, running and listening games, self feeding and drinking as well as dressing our selves. Make sure you are also getting out and about on the weekends! The weather is going to be warming up so make the most of these lighter evenings and go for a run around or kick about at the park! Reminders: Look at your weather app in the morning and dress your child as accordingly, if it is going to be chilly or wet - do not put them in a summer dress or shorts. Please make sure your child’s shoes are a good fit - some children’s shoes are too big and are causing them to fall over while at nursery. Task @ home: Get your child to put on their own socks and shoes (if they can). The first step is to put the sock on just a little and encourage them to pull it. Always encourage selffeeding, yoghurts and small spoons are always the best to start with and post pictures on the EyLog of their achievements! Dates for you diary and reminders: •

If you have changed your mobile number or moved house recently, don’t forget to update your contact details with us! •

Notes from Freedom Zone: Cool Cats - Viviana, Charlotte, Sam, Sherry, Ellie, Nabila, Saptati , Elvia and Danielle Focus: Mini-beasts and Growing! Firstly we would like to say goodbye to Sonia who is moving into Small Steps. We would like to welcome Heidi, Gurnoor, Jibreel, Shruthi, Tessa, Aishlyn, Harjind, Amanvir and Zion into our room as well as Sherry and Elvia. Elvia will be with us until her maternity leave. Sherry will be swapping with Sonia and become our morning practitioner. Due the sudden change in weather we will be doing physical development for an extra week to try and fit in Sport’s week - weather depending we may simply have to use the garden or the gym so we can focus on our physical strength and ability. Unfortunately, it was postponed due to the bad weather . Following on from this we will then be focusing on mini-beasts and growing. With the weather getting sunnier it’s a great way to explore the changing season as well as explore the outdoors. We will be having some caterpillars delivered to the nursery so we can watch the grow and nurture them - it’s a great way for the children to see the life cycle of a butterfly. We are going to be exploring natural habitats, different types of minibeasts and how they move around as well as what we can do with in the environment to help and preserve these habitats. We will also be focusing on Eid and it’s celebrations the week commencing the 10th May. The children will get the opportunity to partake in arts and crafts, sensory play as well as learning about the culture behind the celebration. We will be having a small party celebration on the Wednesday 12th May for the children. Targets to work on @ home • Labeling language - To encourage language development, please make sure you are labelling items.

By this we mean not just handing children a t-shirt, for example “now we put on your red t-shirt” or “can you pass me the blue plate?”. This is something we focus on at nursery and would be very helpful for you to do at home too.

• At the moment, with all of the changes in the world and with places opening up and environments

becoming busier, the children are going through a range of emotions. Recently we have been talking positively and explaining why we may feel the way we do. We have been looking at and teaching the children about positive affirmations such as “I can and I will” or “I am unique and I can do this!” and we have found that these can ease anxiety and boost self-confidence. We urge you to do the same at home too! Reminders: • Homework on the EyLog: Please ensure you are checking the EyLog for homework from your key

-worker. It will be in an observation or sent through as a sperate observation. Post the evidence on the EyLog so we can link it to your child’s development .
