Harvard Park Day NurseryFeltham: July Newsletter 2015. News from the Managers Nicki and Tracey –
Firstly, we would like to wish Simran, Mandy and Carol a very happy birthday for this month. We would also like to congratulate Danielle and her family on the birth of their beautiful baby boy! We can tell you mum and baby are doing very well. Reminder about Saturday 4th July – this is our open day. Hopefully by now you have all made appointments with your keyworker to come and have a look at their learning journals, discuss their progress and meet other parents. As from September 2015, we would really appreciate the use of umbrella buggies as we are very limited on space in to store them. If they are not folded or do not fit in our storage containers, then as of September, you will be asked to take them with you. We would like to say that we feel very privileged that you chose us as you child’s first steps towards education and that we will miss each and every one of you terribly. We know that whatever you chose to do in life, it will be fab and we wish you all the best of luck for your futures.
News from Deputy Carol-Please inform us of your child’s last day. If your child is
currently receiving funded sessions your last day will be Friday 28 th August. If you need childcare after this date, it will be chargeable. I would like to say well done to the children in Freedom Zone who have been working on their word blending and spelling you are doing really well. Well Done. We are just making you aware, that each year we have a shuffle round of staff, moving them into different rooms. This is to ensure that staff remain motivated and bring in lots of new ideas. We, as management have yet to sit down and discuss this, however we will let you know of these changes when the decision has been finalised.

We have a parent’s page in their journals and some of them are looking a bit empty Dates and notes: - We would like to wish a Happy 1st Birthday to – Amy on the 7th and Zoe on the 16th of this month. Hello there! Firstly we would like to say goodbye to Shriya who moved up to Freedom Zone at the end of last month and goodbye to Julia who will be leaving us! This month’s topic is Let’s Pretend! This is a new topic for both us as well as the children so there is loads of new learning to be had. To highlight this amazing topic, the children will be venturing into lots of fantastic and challenging activities!
Can parents please join our Facebook site as we are trialling our news letters on our new site to save our trees! We will of course print of a few copies to those parents who do not have access to a computer. We will also display a copy on our parents table. .
These will include den building, dolly tea-parties, pirate ship building and various rounds of junk modelling and creativity. All of these activities will help develop the children’s imaginative streaks and concepts or risk and challenge. As the weather is getting increasingly hotter, please ensure that we have a bottle of your child’s preferred sun cream in our possession for when we go out on trips or in the garden. If you also want to provide light clothing such as vest or shorts, we are more than happy to change your child during the hotter parts of the day. This may seem like a strange request, but if you have any images of rooms in your house, we would love to display them in our home corner. It will allow our children to talk about where they live as well as recognise familiar settings.
Your mission this month is to: -
Engage in role play scenarios with your child whenever you can. Let them lead the session- ask open ended questions to help them develop language and ideas.
Dates and notes: We would like to say happy birthday to Simran for the 19th of July! Reminder of the open Day on Saturday 4th July! If you need a reminder of your appointment time please ask.

We wish you all the best for the future and hope that you will come back and see us. Reminder that Friday 10th July is our leaver’s day/party. All of you are welcome to dress up for the whole day as your favourite Superhero! It will be a fun day for all and a chance for the children who are returning to us to say goodbye to their peers who will be leaving. For all of those who are leaving, hopefully you would have received your invites to our afterhour’s party. Please remember to drop your child off to us at 5:30pm and return to us for 7:30pm to come and watch our concert! Please inform your keyworker if you are planning on attending this and whether your child will be attending our afterhour’s party. This month’s topic is all about Transitions. We have already begun our transition talks and will continue this through the rest of the month. We are in the process of making new school books, which will give your child an insight to their new schools. We will be looking at different types of uniforms and what kind of things we can expect to get up to at our new schools. It can be a highly emotional time for both you and your child, so if you want to chat or need any advice then just come and talk to us. Just a reminder dress appropriately for the hotter weather. Please apply sun cream before you attend your sessions and please supply a bottle of your child’s preferred sun cream to us so we can also apply it through the day. We do still go on outings and in the garden, so please provide a labelled sunhat. We would also like to say a massive thank you to all the dads, uncles, brothers and family members that attended our Fathers Day Football session. We had lots of fun and hope you did too!
