Harvard Park Day Nursery LTD.
Notes from the management team: Nicki, Tracey and our deputy manager Carol With the restrictions being lessened and we are being encouraged to be outside more, please remember the COVID-19 symptoms. If you, your child or anyone in your household is showing symptoms - please stay at home. We have a duty of care to protect our staff and the other children in our care. If anyone has a new or continuous cough or temperature - please stay at home and inform us. We have done an amazing job so far so let’s keep it up! A small reminder about birthday’s, cakes and celebrations (as we have a lot coming up in April and May) : Please email us to let us know if you will be bringing in a cake for us to share among the children. If we have too many cakes on one day, we will either send some home with the children or keep it for another day to share.

•
Fresh Cream Cakes: We are asking you to avoid these if possible and also avoid chocolate cake. They both contain a lot of sugar and often we have to remove the cream as it is too much for our children to have. A supermarket character cake is more than enough and much cheaper!
•
Party bags: these are unnecessary. If you wish to provide a birthday treat fresh fruit, a small book , snack boxes of fruit like raisins are more then enough and our children love them!
Easter is on the way so we will be closed on Friday 2nd April and Monday 5th April due to the bank holiday. Enjoy your time together as a family and we hope you have a lovely easter break. We would officially like to welcome Afsha to our team as well - she has joined the Small Steps room! A note in regards to the EyLog:
Please be aware that you will receive observations on a 2 weekly basis, not every week at the moment. We have to ensure that our practitioners are given time to complete observations outside of the room so it does not compromise the safety of the children. We are currently recruiting for additional staff as well too as this is also effecting staff ability to come out of the room. If you have any issues with the EyLog or what you receive, please email us so we can discuss this and are aware of the situation. Thank You.
Clothing and the weather: Please check the weather before you leave your house Please do not be fooled by the warm days we are having - our garden does not get any sun until mid-May! Please continue to bring in a coat for your child. Children MUST be dressed in trousers and jumpers with t-shirts/vests underneath. We are keeping the doors open to keep a constant flow of clean air through the room to reduce the level of germs within the building. This means no summer dresses or skirts with tights!

Notes from Baby Studio: Ducklings - Simran, Mary, Amanda and Martina: Focus: Easter and Personal, Social and Emotional DevelopmentFirstly we would like to welcome Aayra, Aariv and Rishaan to our room! As Easter approaches, we are doing lots of fun activities surrounding the celebration of Easter. This includes egg hunts and exploring mark making and our sense with feathers! Alongside this , we will be doing lot’s of small groups activities to encourage the babies social development. This will include the knock knock box - a box of everyday objects which children can take out an object and are encouraged to share it; our sound box which is similar to the above but involves different sounds instead and we will be introducing new songs into our song bags which involve emotions! Reminders: Please email any important information i.e. absences or routine questions to our email address - info@harvardparkday nursery.co.uk and not on the EyLog. The EyLog is a tool for development and child memories so please make sure you yourself are adding to their learning by uploading pictures, videos and observations too! The last feed in the Baby Studio is at 3:30 pm so this means that your child maybe a little hungry when you get home. A light dinner or a milk bottle may be required when you get home.
Target @ home : Communicate with us on the EyLog by sending us photo’s and video’s of what your child does at home. We can link it to our EYFS which helps support your baby in reaching their milestones! Notes from Small Steps: Bunnies - Qani, Paulina, Gurpreet, Afsha, Sherry and Elvia Focus: Easter and Mini- Beasts (Physical development) Firstly, We would like to welcome Aroush, Liam, Harjind, Nella and Ayansh to our Small Steps room! We would also like to welcome Afsha to our team as well - we hope you all settle in well. This month will be focusing on our Physical development area of the EYFS through a range of different activities. As Easter approaches, we are doing lots of fun activities surrounding the celebration of Easter. This includes egg hunts and the use of focus words such as egg, chick and easter! Moving on from Easter, we will be looking at mini-beasts! Children will get the opportunity to explore activities such as making their own mini-beasts from clay, going on a mini beasts hunt in the garden and around the local area and exploring mini-beasts using figurines! When you are out and about at the weekend, make sure you are looking at the world around you and see if you can find bugs such spiders, snails or maybe even a butterfly! Reminders: Please make sure your child’s shoes are a good fit - some children’s shoes are too big and are causing them to fall over while at nursery. Remember to provide us with a water bottle as we do not have spares on site, all bottles are labelled with names here so there is no confusion as to whose bottle is whose. And Finally, share photo’s on the EyLog - it’s simple and easy! Task @ home: Communicate with us on the EyLog by sending us photo’s and video’s of what your child does at home. We can link it to our EYFS which helps support your baby in reaching their milestones! Share photo’s pf anything you have done over the Easter Bank Holiday we will be checking and chasing you up! Notes from Freedom Zone: Cool Cats - Viviana, Charlotte, Sam, Sonia, Ellie, Nabila, Saptati and Danielle Focus: It’s all about Mathematics and Physical Development! If you have applied for reception or nursery school, let us know as we like to begin our school talks and transition talks as early as possible to help support these children with such a big change. And Secondly, we hope you have a lovely Easter Bank Holiday! This month we will be focusing on 2 area’s of development. For the first 2 weeks of April we will be looking at everything to do with Maths. This includes shapes, space, numbers and problem solving. We will have a range of different activities such as number and shape hunts around our local area, beginning to look at maths problems for those who are ready and of course using our mark making skills to develop our number recognition. For the last 2 weeks of April will be focusing on our Physical development and hoping the weather stays dry for our sports week which will be on the last week of April! Physical development is looking at gross motor skills such as running, jumping, ball kicking, cycling etc. and fine motor skills which relate to mark making, the way we hold our writing tools, hand eye coordination when picking up small objects and how we handle pouring apparatus. Activities will include a lot of walks around our local area, sports week where all children will get a chance to participate in a mini sports day and using climbing equipment in the garden such as our new slides! Targets to work on @ home Encourage your child to drink water at home - we encourage it here but a lot of children will take the other option on offer. Water is important for brain function so please encourage this as we do here. Labeling language - To encourage language development, please make sure you are labelling items. By this we mean not just handing children a t-shirt, for example “now we put on your red t-shirt” or “can you pass me the blue plate?”. This is something we focus on at nursery and would be very helpful for you to do at home too. Make sure you as a family are keeping active. Home yoga, meditation and bend and stretch are all great ways of keeping active. There are a few YouTube channels that can help with this - CosmicKids is one of them! Reminders: •
Key Workers will be sending out Homework on the EyLog: Your child’s key-worker will be sending out activity ideas on the EyLog to help you focus on these 2 area’s of learning at home. So please keep an eye out for these and acknowledge them when you see them. We would like to have evidence of the things you are working on at home and once these activities are complete, please upload your pictures. We will be chasing you up if you have yet to complete the homework set.

Children can feel anxious in these times so ensure you are taking the time to explain what is happening in the world and discuss any up coming changes with your child. They listen to more than you think and maybe holding onto to some feelings they don’t know how to process.
Dates for you diary and reminders: If your child was born between 01/09/17 and 31/08/18 - you can apply for school nursery if you would like to.
