Park Day Nursery Feltham: Newsletter 2016.

News from the Managers Nicki and Tracey –

Firstly, we would like to say a sad sad goodbye to someone who has been with us right from the beginning she was one of our very first employee’s here at Day Nursery and we will miss her very much, Gemma will be leaving us this month and her last day is on Wednesday 10 th February. We would like to thank her for her services over the last 7 years and we wish her and her husband the best of luck for their future. Secondly, we would like to wish Sonia, Karen and Marisa happy birthday’s for this month. We would also like to welcome all the new parents who have joined our Harvard park family. This is an important notice relating to sickness and temperatures when your child is out of the setting. IF they have had sickness, diarrhoea, loose stools or temperatures at any point during the night or when they are away from nursery, you need to inform us. It is important for us to know about these as well as whether they have had any medication. Please also make sure to call if your child is late, going to be absent from nursery to a holiday or day off and if they are unwell. If you bring a buggy into the setting, please fold them down. Due to our Health and Safety regulations, all pushchairs must be stored safely for us to be allowed to continue having buggies on our premises. Please be aware if your child is in Freedom Zone and coming in in a buggy, we will have to ask you to take these with you. They should not be coming to the setting in buggies and it will impact their physical development. Thank you for co-operating.

Firstly, we would like to welcome Aahana and David to the baby studio and say a sad goodbye to Neel and Aliana! This month will focus on sensory investigation as well as books. We will be doing lots of messy play so please make sure your child has plenty of spare clothes. We will put them in our own spares but just as a precaution. Some of our older children already have a strong interest in books and stories so we are going to build on this by introducing small story sacks and familiar short stories at group times and throughout the session. If you would like to come and join us for either a story or a messy play session, just let us know and we can arrange one for you. If your child has a favourite story they would like to share with their friends, please do not hesitate to bring it in. Just a reminder, if and when you are asked for nappies and wipes, please provide them as soon as possible. If we are unable to change your child we will have to ask you to collect them. Your mission this month is to: -Please send in a picture of your child reading at home and ask us for some wow stickers to fill in for your parents input page in their learning journals! Dates and notes: - We would like to wish a happy birthday to Karen on the 8th and Marisa for the 29th of the month. Also happy first birthday to Nilan on the 13 th.

Hello! Firstly, we would all like to say a warm welcome to Neel and Aliana to our room as they will be joining us at some point this month. We would like to say goodbye to Lea who will be making the transition into Freedom Zone. Our topic this month is a Stories and books. We will be making lots of visits to the library so could you please make sure that your child is wearing appropriate clothing and footwear. If they normally attend in slippers, please bring a sturdy pair of shoes as well. Our Focus book will be the Hungry Caterpillar as it is a great learning tool. It features aspects such as colours, counting, shapes and fruit all of which we can create new and exciting activities from. We will also be looking at simpler books and story sacks as well to develop and introduce new language. Chinese New Year is on the 8 th of this month so will we be doing activities which focus on the year of the monkey as well as some traditional food tasting. Valentine’s Day is on the 14th of this month so make sure you are checking your chubby hoes for a little Valentine’s Day surprise! Due to the sudden drop in the temperature over the last few weeks, Please ensure that your child has gloves and a hat, labelled in their bag ready for the day. We do go outside in all weathers so please bare this in mind. Thank you.

Your mission this month is to: - Look at books at home. Books are a great way to introduce new language as well as repetition and rhyme. Send us a picture of you and your child looking at books at home, we can put them in your learning journals.

Dates and notes: We would like to say a Happy birthday to Sonia!

News from –Viviana,Chelsea, Pauline, Kulwinder, Sherry, Vaida,Gurpreet, Simran and Claire: Hello Everyone! We would like to say well done to all of our children who entered the Space rocket competition; you all did a brilliant job! Our topic this month is based all around Traditional Stories and will be focusing on The 3 Little Pigs, Jack and the Beanstalk and Goldilocks and the 3 Bears. From these stories we can explore other areas such as shape, positional language, numerals and sizes; all fitting into our mathematical development. If you have these books at home or have any of your own traditional stories, please read them at home. We will be doing activities which encourage our children to create their own stories, introduce a storyline into their role play, use story based language and to create their own props to use during play. We would also like to remind you to make sure your child is signed in when they arrive. It is an emergency document which we use in a fire evacuation. If your child is attending the morning gym please make sure they are in before 9:15am, this is the time we leave and if they are not here they will miss out. Please check your child’s cubby holes for art work and other things, if there are things in your child’s cubby hole without names on, please bring this to the attention of a Freedom Zone practitioner. One last point, please do not be alarmed if your child has started to put their coat on the floor in an attempt to put it on. This is just the way we teach them and it has proven to be very effective. They are encouraged to lay their coat on the floor, stand where the hood is, put their arms in the sleeves and flip it over their heads. We do encourage them to do this inside only so their coats are not damaged in the process  it’s all to encourage their self help skills. IMPORTANT: When you child reaches our room, it is crucial for your child’s physical develop to avoid using the buggy or push chairs. They should be walking or scooting to nursery to continue to develop their growing muscles. We have an area for their scooters and they are also able to use their scooters in the garden too.

Your mission this month is to: -Fill out some stickers or make notes on what you child has done while they are away from nursery. Give it to their key worker who will then stick it in their learning journals.
