News from the Harvard Park Team: Natalie, Danielle, Seema, Diluni, Anusha, Rosa, Marilyn, Laura, Erin and JeannaOur theme for this month is Traditional stories. We are looking at the stories we were brought up on as children as well as the different stories from other cultures. If you have a traditional story you would like to come and tell us, let your key worker know and we can easily arrange for you to come in and tell us a story! We have had parents do this in the past and the children love it. Our activities will include creating our own story books to develop literacy and mark making skills, looking at numbers that may feature in stories to develop our maths and looking and exploring feelings within stories to help develop our personal, social and emotional skills. This month will we be staring a new group time called rolling groups. They are small groups which are based on the age and stage of the children. The small group help the children to focus on the task in hand. This month the focus will be language whether its developing those simple sentences or creating our own stories based on images. We would like to make you aware that the closing date for Reception Applications is on Thursday 15th January 2015. If you haven’t applied please do so as soon as possible. We will update you of when the closing date for Nursery applications are when it reaches closer to the time. This does not mean you cannot apply now, you are more than welcome to do so. Mission of the month: -Introduce your children to traditional fairy stories. For the first couple of weeks we will be focusing on Goldilocks and the 3 bears, linking in with caring for Holly and Harvey Bear.
Just a few notes to start off the month of January:• Please it is very important that your child does not bring anything containing NUTS into the pre-school setting as we do have children and staff who have a NUT ALLERGY!!!

Labelling your child’s clothing especially hats coats and gloves as we are having trouble with some children wearing the same colour and the same type of coats. If you would like us to do so simply say. We are still having problems at drop off times and having to open and close the gate many times – PLEASE BE ON TIME!!!! Some parents have requested that they collect their children at 3.30 due to horrid weather if you would like this option please let the staff know and we will have a group of children in the office room ready and waiting to go home – the other children will stay in the big room tidying up and having stories or songs.
Big well done to all your parents who have been encouraging either walking or riding to pre-school! Less buggies is better for us as we have lack of storage as you can see.
To avoid upset or confusion everything should be clearly labelled with your child’s name. Also remember once you collect your children from their groups they are your responsibility so DO NOT let them push the door handle to let themselves out. ADULTS ONLY!!!!!!
We would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Lily and Madeline, Isam, Alfie, Oliver, Sufia, Joshua, Jaden, Omid, Jacob and Janaye. If you have had your birthday already we hope you had a wonderful day and if your birthday is coming up we hope it is a lovely day! Please could parents/ carers bring in fruit so we can share it during our snack time? You are doing great so keep it up! please avoid Kiwi’s as we have a child who has an allergy, Thank You. We have noticed that some parents are still parking next to parked cars outside the school gates please do not do this! PLEASE REFRAIN FROM USING THE STAFF CAR PARK AT ANYTIME EVEN IF THE BARRIER IS UP/THEY DO HAVE CAMERAS AND HARVARD PARK DO GET INTO TROUBLE IF OUR PARENTS ARE SEEN DRIVING IN. THANK YOU Can parents please join our Facebook site as we are trialling our news letters on our new site to save our trees! Just type in Harvard Park Pre-school and Day Nursery and we should pop up! We regularly update this with pictures, messages and notices. We will of course print of a few copies to those parents who do not have access to a computer. We will also display a copy on our parents table.
