News from Baby Studio – Simran, Mary, Marisa, Nabila, and Sherry : -
Labelling bottles: Please label all water and milk bottles. Children are bound to have similar or the same bottles. To avoid confusion and upset, please label them. We find that permanent markers or customised stickers work the best. - Change in weather: Please continue to supply us with a coat or warm jackets so we are able to continue going out on walks. Where possible please ensure we also have a pair of shoes or warm foot wear. Also, make sure you are providing a sufficient amount of spare clothes in case nappies leak or clothes get dirty. - Signing in and out: Please make sure you are using our board to sign your child in and out. It is an emergency document for a fire evacuation. It is also there to protect your child as well as for health and safety reasons. We will remind you when possible. Welcome back and a happy new year from us! We would like to start by saying goodbye to Gabriel, Bradley and Photizo who have moved up into Small Steps. Below are some reminders we would like you to be aware of: For the month of January, we will be focusing on developing language. Your keyworker will give you 3 simple words to focus on at home and using a visual prop alongside with help embed the vocabulary. We use tools like this within the setting. Labelling all objects and talking to your child all helps develop their word bank. Within the setting, we will be using our everyday boxes, giving two choices for example blue bib or pink bib, spoon or fork etc. and keeping our song time to a minimum of three songs. We will also be reducing the number of dummies which are being used in our baby room. It can have an effect on speech causing language delay. We will only be giving it to them if they require it at sleep time or to settle when they are extremely upset. It would be great if you could continue this at home and support the work we will be doing here at the nursery. We do have leaflets which explain the effect dummies have on a child’s development available for you on request or in the lobby. Your mission this month is to: - add observations of you and your child onto the EY log! We would love to see what they are like outside of the setting. You could even add an observation of you practising the three words at home.
Can parents please join our Facebook site as we are trialling our news letters on our new site to save our trees! We will of course print of a few copies to those parents who do not have access to a computer. We will also display a copy on our parents table. .

News from Bunnies – Chelsea, Latifa, Lucy, Gurpreet and Wendy: Welcome to 2017 and happy new year! Firstly, we would like to welcome Gabriel, Bradley, Photizo and Hayden into our room and wave goodbye to Tanay and Tanya who will be moving into Freedom Zone. Please can we remind you that our nursery is a nut free zone. This includes products with nuts in such as cereal or treats, we have a child with an EpiPen allergy and a practitioner with a nut allergy. Please be mindful of this. Our topic for this month will be all about Self-help skills. We do a lot of this within the setting during meal times, nappy times and even when we are getting ready to go outside. Please try to do this at home, we know it is very easy to do it for them but they are quite capable and enjoy achieving small tasks. This can be from something as simple as choosing their own top, putting on their socks, pouring milk of their cereal (with a little bit of help) or even putting their coat on by themselves. It is a key part of their learning and encourages them to be independent with their choices, developing their own selves. The weather is very cold in the mornings and during the day. Please remember to bring in a thick winter coat along with woolly hat, scarves and gloves. Please write your child’s name in them too as we have a lot of items going missing. Children are going to have the same belongings, its inevitable. If you want us to do this, we will happily do it for you. - Label your child’s belongings: Please label your child’s belongings, we have a total of 24 children in our room and they are bound to have the same bottle or coat. Permanent markers or customised stickers are the best option we have found. - Signing in and out: With regards to signing your child in and out, please make sure you are doing this as you enter and leave the building. They are there for safe guarding and child protection reasons. Thank You. - Cubby Holes: Please supply a sufficient amount of spare clothes. Children have accidents and nappies do sometimes leak, please provide at least 3 changes of clothes for you child. You are more than welcome to leave them here.
One last request, if you or any family members have any plastic containers/bottles, carboard, egg boxes etc. could we please have them before you throw them. We like to do junk modelling and we are running low on resources. Thank You.
Your mission this month is to: - Come and see Chelsea or Latifa to book your place and time for our Cookie Baking Parents in Parentership session on Wednesday 25 th January!
Dates and notes: We would like to wish a happy 2nd birthday to Navya for the 18th and Kiaan for the
21st of this month. We would also like to wish Chelsea a happy birthday for the 29 th. We hope you all have lovely days.
News from –Viviana, Sam, Sonia, Vaida, Qani, Marilyn and Nabila A: Happy new year from all of us to all of you! Firstly we would like to welcome Tanya and Tanay into our room. We had to say goodbye to Salina very suddenly before the Christmas break. We are currently looking to fill her position. This month’s topic will be ‘Space and our Solar System’. Over the years our children have got a lot from this topic and we have found that it sparks an interest we never knew they had. We will be exploring this topic in many ways such as experimenting with movement and finding out how spacemen move, creating our own helmets to explore the moon, learning lots of new space related words such as astronaut and sphere, talking about Earth and the planet on which we live as well as creating our own pieces of art related to space and its theme. Over the next few months, we will be working on our parents in partnership. We have chosen to do small group ones as we have over 50 children on our registers. You will be invited by Viviana and one other

practitioner to come and join what we have planned for you. Please bear with us as we work on inviting you all into play at some point during the first half of the year. Book Bags: If your child has a book bag, please make sure you are bringing them in so they can change their books. It is entirely your child’s choice of book and we have a wide variety to choose from. Reading is an important skill children need to be aware of and it enables you to spend quality time with your child. If you do not currently have a book bag, they are available to purchase from Carol in the office. A few reminders for this month: Names in coats: Children are bound to have the same coats or belongings. Writing their name on the label will prevent things going missing. We cannot really be held responsible if a child’s coat is the same as someone else’s and there is no way to differentiate between the two. If you do not own a permanent marker at home, we will happily do this for you but we need to have your permission. Change in Weather: The weather has got a lot colder after the last few weeks. Please provide your child with hat and gloves, labelled with their name, so they do not go missing or get lost. We do have spares but not enough for everyone. If your child shares a peg, please put them in their drawer or in their bags, just inform a practitioner of where they are. Signing in and out: We have noticed that a lot of you have not been made aware of our signing in board. It is located by the door as you leave the premises. Please ensure you are doing this. Thank you.
Your mission this month is to: - To encourage your child to create their own planet. This could be a 3D model, a drawing, painting, anything they want to make. If they choose not to make a planet, encourage them to make something they want to bring in and show us. Entries to be in by Monday 23rd January.
Dates and notes: - We would like to wish a happy 3rd birthday to Macie for the 21st of this month.
We would also like to wish a happy 4th birthday to Anirudh on the 14th and Ashutosh on the 23rd of this month. Vaida will be celebrating on the 5th and Justyna will be celebrating on the 30th. We hope you all have lovely days.
