Harvard Park Pre-School Isleworth: January Newsletter 2018 News from the Managers, Nicki and Tracey and Deputy Manager, Amy Welcome to 2018! We would like to welcome all new parents and children to our Harvard Park family. We would also like to welcome Emma to our Harvard Park Team. She will be introducing herself the first week back so make sure you say hi. A few of your children’s key workers may have changed around to fit with practitioners and children’s days, please double check with Natalie or Amy to see if your key worker has indeed changed. We have a very important message from Smallberry Green’s head teacher: DO NOT Park in front of or outside the school gates. You will get in trouble if they see you on their CCTV. Do not park inside the car park either. Harvard Park will get in trouble for this too. If the gate is open, the CCTV is still in operation and they will register your number plate. Labelling clothes and belongings: Our coat peg area is very crowded but we have to make use of what space we have. Please stick to your child’s correct peg with their name and picture. Please label their coat, school bag and any belongings they may have in there. We will be collecting a lost property box for anything we find without a name. The weather is changing and the chill is in the air. Please can we ask that you start to provide thick winter coats as well as gloves, hats and scarfs all clearly labelled with your child’s name. Pick ups and Drop offs If you’re a requesting a 3:30pm pick up time, please call in advance if it is not a regular occurrence. For health and safety reasons, we cannot open up the gate before or after this time until 4:10pm. We open our doors from 8:00am and close the door at 8:45am. Please make sure you are arriving to us before 8:45am as your child is missing out on valuable learning time. For our afternoon session, we open the door at 12:30pm. As the weather is becoming colder, we do feel it is unfair to make children wait outside in the cold so please try to get here as close to 12:30pm as possible, not half an hour before. Fruit and Vegetable donations: Please remember to bring in some fruit and Vegetables every week for our children to have snack with. Some weeks we are running low and it is a great opportunity for the children to try a range of fruits and vegetables. School applications: st If your child was born between 1 September 2013 and 31st August 2014 its time to apply for school reception. Here is a link you can follow to help you out with this: https://www.hounslow.gov.uk/info/20028/primary_admissions/76/apply_for_primary_school_for_se pt_2018 Find the Hounslow government page on the internet and follow the steps to filling in this application. The last date for submission is Monday 15th January. If you have any problems or questions, please come and see Amy or Natalie. Job advertisements: Do you know someone with a level 3 qualification in childcare? We are currently looking for full time and part time staff at both of our settings (Feltham and Isleworth). If you do, please get them to send their CV’S into info@harvardparkdaynursery.co.uk or info@harvardparkpreschool.co.uk . If you are on Facebook, we do have a Facebook page which gives you updates, notices and also an insight into both our settings and what special activities we get up to. News from Natalie, Jeanna, Lacey, Eva, Emma, Megan, Angela and Hina: Topic: Space

Happy new year! Please add some pictures of what you got up to in the holidays onto the EYLog so we can share them with the children. This month we will be exploring everything to do with Space and the solar system. We will explore the idea of the solar system, our planet, exploring our space bag, making our own rockets and pretending to be astronauts! It is a great opportunity for new learning and our children from the past have really enjoyed this topic. It provides a chance for you to discuss the night time sky with your child before bed, looking at the stars and the moon.

Home Mission: Create your own Space rocket and bring it into Pre-school by Monday 29th January to show you peers and teachers! If you need any resources, please feel free to have a look at our junk modelling. Birthdays and Important dates: We would like to wish a very happy birthday to Maha for the 2nd, Khadijah for the 8th, Eva for the 9th and to Saif on the 20th of this month. We hope you all have a lovely day ď Š

Important reminders: - Is your child a whizz with technology? : We are currently developing a way for you to share with us how your child can use technology at home. If you have any pictures of them on a ipad, phone, computer or tablet, please share them with us via the EyLog or emails. - Developing our Home Corner: Please send in pictures of your children or yourselves brushing their teeth, hair or washing their faces. We would like to help our children recognise and relate to their home lives whilst being at nursery. It helps develop relationships, language and selfconfidence in all children of all abilities too. - Helpful Handouts: If you, family members or friends are ever having a clear out of resources such as newspapers, egg boxes, containers, clothes, material etc. Please consider us before throwing the away. We use lots of second hand things on a daily basis in both of our settings. - Please label your child’s bottle: make sure their name is clear enough for us to read as some children have the same drinking bottles. Please also make sure their coats, bags and clothes are labelled.
