Please check the lost property in the lobby: We have a lost property basket in the lobby, please check this for any of your belongings, we will be donating it to the charity shop. Label your belongings: We are having lots of items going missing. This will not happen if you label all your child’s things (including t-shirts and trousers) with their name. Please consider this when saying something has gone missing, child will have the same items and we cannot be blamed if someone else takes it home thinking it’s theirs. When you enter or leave the building: Please sign your children in and out. It is very important you do this. Our practitioners are very busy and cannot do this for you. We use these in emergency evacuations to make sure we have all the children out of the building.

Topic: Self-Independence This month we will be promoting self-help skills and we encourage you to do the same. The staff in Small Steps will be supporting the children taking off their shoes and putting them back on as well as practising this with their coats. At meal times, the children will be supported pouring from a jug and serving their own meals. At nappies times, children will be encouraged to help put their clothes on or pull up their trousers. Please do the same at home as it is great for their personal development as well as their physical skills.
Home Mission: Create an all about me box. We have a few boxes here so please feel free to take one, decorate it with your child. The box should contain your child’s likes. For example an empty packet of their favourite food, family photos, objects of your child’s favourite colour or toys which you do not mind if they get lost. If you are unsure of what we mean, please come and see us. Birthdays: We would like to wish Parisha a happy 2nd birthday for the 25th of this month and to Kiyana for the 12th. Topic: Space
Happy new year! Please add some pictures of what you got up to in the holidays onto the EYLog so we can share them with the children. This month we will be exploring everything to do with Space and the solar system. We will explore the idea of the solar system, our planet, visiting the library to get additional books for learning, exploring our space bag, making our own rockets and pretending to be astronauts! It is a great opportunity for new learning and our children from the past have really enjoyed this topic. It provides a chance for you to discuss the night time sky with your child before bed, looking at the stars and the moon.
Home Mission: Space Project Create a space project with your child. It could be as simple as a drawing on a piece of paper or as elaborate as a 3D planet. Please give you projects to us by Monday 29th January so we have a little bit of time to talk about them and you may even win a prize. If you need any resources such as junk modelling please come and see us. Birthdays and other notes: We would like to wish a happy 3rd birthday to Kiaan on the 21st, Zia on the 26th and Anaya on the 29th. We would also like to wish Macie a happy 4th birthday for the 21st.
