Harvard Park Day Nursery LTD.
Notes from the management team: Nicki, Tracey and our deputy manager Carol We would like to start by officially welcoming Hannah to our Harvard Park Team. She will be our new practitioner in Freedom Zone and we are very happy to have her on board. March is always a quiet month so there are not very many reminders: •
We will be sending out an email with regards to the changes to the restrictions and COVID-19 so please keep an eye out for this. At this time, we are still accepting children from the front door for Freedom Zone, inside the Lobby for the Baby Studio and from the back gate for Small Steps. Thank you for co-operating and understanding.
•
Thursday 3rd March is World Book Day for all rooms - at present we are unable to swap children’s days so if your child is not in on this Thursday, please feel free to dress them up on another day and speak to their key worker who will arrange some activities for them!
•
We would like to apologise for any delays in observations you may have experienced with the EyLog app. We aim to provide you with observations on a 2 weekly basis. We are currently training up new staff as well as covering sickness so there may be a slight delay in when and how you receive them. Thank you for your understanding and we are trying to get on top of this.
Health and Safety Notices and reminders: Birthday Celebrations and Party Bags It is lovely that you want to celebrate your child’s birthday with their friends at the nursery. If you would like to provide something for the children to take home, may we please discourage goody bags and ask you to provide maybe a book, fruit bags or raisins, or a colouring book. Small Parts are a health risk even for the children who are in Freedom Zone.
Pushchairs and Buggies in the Lobby Please fold down your buggies. This is not an option - all buggies must be folded and placed away form our lobby library. They pose a health and safety risk when left up as this could be an emergency exit in an evacuation. If your buggy is not folded and you have already left the building, we will be asking you to leave work to come and fold it down. Children in Freedom Zone must take all pushchairs home - buggies cannot be left for children over 2 and a half years old. We encourage the use of scooters for this room.

Harvard Park Day Nursery LTD.
Notes from Baby Studio: Ducklings - Amanda, Mary, Afsha and Gurpreet: Focus: Communication and Language (CL) Firstly we would like to start by saying goodbye to Flaviano and Felipe who will be moving up to Small Steps this month! We would like to say Happy Mother’s Day for the 27th of this month! As it is World Book Day on Thursday, the babies can come dressed up for the day and share their favourite book with their friends and teachers. This month we will also be doing lots of activities focusing on language development. This will include story boxes and knock knock boxes in small groups. We will be adding different books into our book corner as well as sound imitating games with our younger babies to support this development. The stories we read are often short simple one word books such as Hug by Jez Alborough. So if you are having a look at books at home, short simple ones are best for this age. Sadly we are not seeing enough of you interacting and sharing things on our EyLog app. If you do not know how to do this please let us know and we can support you. As part of the nurseries parents in partnership it is important for you to share as much as we do with you. Pictures and video’s of your child learning at home can help us mark off milestones in the Development Matters document. Reminders:
Please keep your babies nails as short as possible for their own safety as well as the safety of others. If you struggle to clip them, try when they are fresh out of the bath or while they are sleeping.
Target @ home : If you have not sent us family photo’s for albums or our family display board please do so and email them on the EyLog app via an observation or to info@harvardparkdaynursery.co.uk
Notes from Small Steps: Bunnies - Qani, Martina, Amy, Harriet, Elvia and Sonia: Focus: Communication and Language. Our theme will be Books and Traditional Stories! Firstly we would like to welcome Leo, Flaviano and Felipe who will be joining us this month. We would also like to say a sad goodbye to Aditya and Family as they will be leaving the nursery. We would like to say Happy Mother’s Day for the 27th of this month and Happy St Patrick’s day for the 17th! This month we will looking at the story of The 3 little Pigs for around 2 weeks and then moving onto Goldilocks and the 3 bears. During the month we will be aiming to expand the children language through a range of activities such as story sacks and boxes, independent reading as well as texture play and proving opportunities to explore opposites such as hot and cold or wet and dry during porridge play. Reminders: Comfortable shoes which fit: It is important for children to wear shoes that fit. Shoes that are too big will cause accidents such as tripping - a good set of shoes is important for physical development.
Please provide enough spare clothes and please dress your child in clothes that you do not mind getting messy: We cannot stress enough that children will get messy while at nursery and if they do not wish to wear aprons we cannot force them and exclude them from messy activities, we can only encourage. Please do not dress your child in their most expensive and prettiest outfits! Please keep your children’s nails as short as possible for their own safety as well as the safety of others. If you struggle to clip them, try when they are fresh out of the bath or while they are sleeping. Please be patient with us at the gate - we have a full room and it can be tricky getting them all ready and out to you on time especially when there are a few parents who all turn up at the same time. The safety of the children is our priority - thank you.

Notes from Freedom Zone: Cool Cats - Viviana, Charlotte, Sam, Sherry, Ellie, Nabila, Saptati , Katie, Hannah and Danielle: Focus: Traditional Tales and Stories! As we welcome in the month of March, we would like to start by welcoming Aarvi to our room. We would also like to officially welcome Hannah and Katie who have been introducing themselves to parents at pick up and drop off times! Thank you to all of those who completed their Space Project amazing Job! We will be handing certificates and prizes out soon and returning the space projects to you. The children are currently using them as talking points during their chatter times. Also, Happy St Patricks Day for the 17th, Happy St David’s Day for the 1st and Happy Mother’s day for the 27th! This month we are focusing on traditional tales and stories so we are going to be selecting stories with the children within our room to focus on. We will let you know which stories we have selected after World Book Day has happened on Thursday. There will be lots of opportunities to talk about their favourite stories as well as make up their own. We will also provide lots of messy play, sensory exploration, physical play as well as a large focus on role play and creative development. Stories and tales are there to support children’s developing language so we will do this through group times as well as planned activities and story sacks. During this week we have already celebrated pancake day with taste testing and creating our own pancakes from dough and sticking resources! We will be working on Mother’s Day later on in the month and we may even touch on St Patricks day too - What a busy month for Freedom Zone! Reminders:
We are re-setting our next lot of 6 week targets for your children and summarising their achievements too. So please look out for those on the EyLog and interact with them by liking or commenting. Please also look out for your next set of Homework too - thank you to those parents who have been uploading regularly - you can see the difference it is making!
If you want to have a catch up with your child’s keyworker regarding their development or you are in need of some support at home - please book an appointment to speak to them when it suits both us and yourselves.
Picking up at 1:00pm: we are having lots of parents arriving later than this time. You will be charged after this point as we start to go over ratio where children are coming in and no-one has gone home. If you want feedback please be here before 12:50 pm as at 1:00pm we need to be in the room with the children so will not be able to feedback to you.
Dummies: Where possible, please avoid bringing dummies into the setting. We understand some children need them for sleep time if they are here all day. We do encourage dummies to remain in bags but after a while they can have an impact on speech development - consider limiting the use of the dummy in the day especially for children aged 3 and over.
Supporting self help skills at home: During mealtimes, encourage your child to feed themselves. It is important for you to know that when they go to school, they will not get the support with eating that they do here. If they are not eating, they are not fed by and adult. If you need support or ideas of how to tackle this at home, please speak to your child’s keyworker.
Please send in pictures of your child’s home via the EyLog to help develop our home area. These photo’s will be used no where else and can be of somewhere like your kitchen or you garden. The staff will also be helping develop the area too.
Sadly we are not seeing enough of you interacting and sharing things on our EyLog app. If you do not know how to do this please let us know and we can support you. As part of the nurseries parents in partnership it is important for you to share as much as we do with you.
