Notes from the management team: We would like to start by addressing the weather. It is still very chilly in the early morning so you must provide all children with a warm coat. It is too early for summer dresses and shorts with no coats! ALL children in must have the appropriate clothing for the weather. We would officially like to welcome Hibo to our team, she will be introducing herself over the next couple of weeks while she gets to know the children and routine. A few little notes for the month of May: •

Our Photographer, Karen will be back in at the end of May. She will be at Pre-school on Tuesday 17th May from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm. If Tuesday is not one of your scheduled sessions, please book in with us at a time that suits everyone. If you would like to have sibling shots, please speak to us so again we can book in a time that suits us all. Karen takes lovely portraits of the children which are ideal for gifts or special memories. We will send out reminders closer to the time.

If you have applied for school nursery, please let us know so we can begin our call backs to people waiting for September 2022 places. We will need to know what we have available before we start. You should hear about your school nursery places in May - so let us know as soon as you do!

Happy Eid for the 2nd / 3rd of May - we hope you have wonderful celebrations!

Our Team currently consists of Jeanna, Tavnish, Sima, Roshelle, Cathy, Hibo and Shalyna. Amy, Nicki and Tracey are splitting the week to come over and support the team, children and parents as well. If you have any questions—please do not hesitate to ask.

Term dates and closures: We will be closed from:

Reminders: 

All fee’s: Remember these need to be paid at the beginning of a half term - always in advance never in arrears. Late fee’s will be applied where necessary - if you receive a message from us please respond.

Completing your set homework: We have set homework which runs for a period of 6 weeks to co-inside with your children’s targets at pre-school. Please try your best to follow through with it as it helps them to move forward in their development and understanding of the world.

Snacks in bags or packed lunches: Children should not be coming into the setting with snacks in their bags or packed lunches unless you have arranged this with the manager. Please remember that Hazelnut spread such as Nutella contain nuts so we cannot accept any snack or lunches which contain this!

Under no circumstances are children allowed sweets or chewing gum when entering the building. Healthy Breakfasts are encouraged as much as possible.

Sun-cream: Where possible, please apply sun cream before coming to the nursery if you are part time. If you are full time, please provide us with a bottle of sun-cream so we can top it up when the weather gets nice. We will label it with your child’s name so there is no confusion as to whose bottle is whose. Please be aware of the ingredients in sun-cream and avoid any with almond oil in - we have children and staff with air-born nut allergies!

Notes from your Pre-School Teachers: Jeanna, Sima, Roshelle, Shalyna, Cathy, Tavnish and Hibo: Focus: Mini-Beasts and Growing! We will continue to look at our topic of Mini-Beasts and Growing. For those of us going to school or school nursery in September, we will be starting our school transition talks and activities such as new school visits, dressing up in uniforms and role play, making school booklets and talking about the changes we will face and how we feel about this. As soon as you know which school or school nursery your child will be attending, please let us know. Please do not underestimate this transition to a new school with new routines, new faces and a much bigger setting—it is important for you to let us know if you will not be coming back in September so we can help prepare your child as much as possible. We have begun to introduce The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle at group times. If you have this story at home, please read and look at it when you can to help familiarise your child with the structure and language involved. We are beginning to focus more on this story and it’s a lovely one if you haven’t read or looked at it yourselves. Homework reminder: Could you please support your children with the set homework that we add to your child’s observations each month. This will help you to understand what your child is engaging with on a weekly basis as well as strengthening their learning both at home and nursery. We understand that life is busy but setting aside 5-10 minutes at day to complete the homework will have a great impact on their development and concentration.

In our group times, we are beginning to practice our concert songs for graduation so if you receive any songs from us—please practice them at home with your child. If you are leaving us to go to school nursery—this will include you so if you don’t want your child missing out, let us know where you will be off to! Reminders: 

The weather is changing - please make sure you are bringing in a coat/thick jacket and sturdy shoes so we can continue to go out and get our daily dose of fresh air. Please also make sure that their outfits are also reflective of the weather - no thin summer dresses or shorts, it is not warm enough for that yet.

If your child is in nappies, please ensure there is enough in their daily bags for around 3/4 changes. If you child is potty training and you are using the pull up method, please make sure there are enough pull ups in their bags too. The needs to be more than one supplied every session please.

Snacks in bags or packed lunches: Children should not be coming into the setting with snacks in their bags or packed lunches unless you have arranged this with the manager. We provide snack.

No nuts or products containing nuts in lunch boxes or bags!

No chewing gum or sweets on arrival to pre-school—this is not a good routine to allow children to get into.

Dates for you diary and reminders: Tuesday 17th May - Photo Day for Pre-School! Half Term Closures: We are closed on Monday 30th May to Friday 3rd June. We re-open for normal sessions on Monday 6th June! If you have applied for School Nursery - please let us know so we can begin our School Transition talks with the children as well as get ready for graduation!
