Harvard Park Pre-School Isleworth: November Newsletter 2017 News from the Managers, Nicki and Tracey and Deputy Manager, Amy Welcome to Harvard Park! The weather is changing and the chill is in the air. Please can we ask that you start to provide thick winter coats as well as gloves, hats and scarfs all clearly labelled with your child’s name. We would also like to thank all of our parents who have been involved with our Parent in Partnership sessions. We hope you find them useful and look out for some more in the upcoming months. Please keep your eyes peeled for notices and reminders on Facebook, email and on our notice board. We have some very important points below, so please read them carefully. Parent in Partnerships: th Tuesday 7 (am-11:00am) and Thursday 9th November (pm – 3:30pm) We will be holding an EY log parents session where we will discuss our new system for observations and how you can be involved with this. We will also be talking about our tracking system and strategies we use within the setting which we feel could benefit both you and your child. If you haven’t already confirmed your attendance, please do so ASAP. Pick ups and Drop offs If you’re a requesting a 3:30pm pick up time, please call in advance if it is not a regular occurrence. For health and safety reasons, we cannot open up the gate before or after this time until 4:10pm. We open our doors from 8:00am and close the door at 8:45am. Please make sure you are arriving to us before 8:45am as your child is missing out on valuable learning time. For our afternoon session, we open the door at 12:30pm. As the weather is becoming colder, we do feel it is unfair to make children wait outside in the cold so please try to get here as close to 12:30pm as possible, not half an hour before. Sickness and Absences If your child is off sick or not going to be in the setting for any reason, ring to inform us. We do keep an eye on attendances for funding purposes and if we are unsure of why you are off for some reason your funding maybe questioned. This is a message from Smallberry Green School: DO NOT Park in front of or outside the school gates. You will get in trouble if they see you on their CCTV. Do not park inside the car park either; Harvard Park will get in trouble for this too. If the gate is open, the CCTV is still in operation and they will register your number plate, approaching you if you park in the car park. They have also requested that when pressing the buzzer, please make sure your face is in line with the camera. Sometimes it is hard to identify who is buzzing at the gate. Remember once you collect your child from their groups, they are your responsibility so DO NOT let them push the door handle to let themselves out. This door is for the adults only. Fruit donations: Thank you to all of you who are bringing in fruit. Please remember to avoid pineapple as we do have allergies within the setting. We would like to say a big thank you to … - Karla for looking after Bertie our snail through the half term, he enjoyed his stay! - Iziaah’s Nan for the very generous contribution to our Halloween party. We all really enjoyed it. - For all of those who donated money towards our Breast Cancer Awareness day. Together we raised £161.58 so thank you! If you are on Facebook, we do have a Facebook page which gives you updates, notices and also an insight into both our settings and what special activities we get up to. Simply type in Harvard Park Day nursery and Preschool in the search bar and look for our logo. You can also leave a review here too. Please look out for EY log emails and if you have any questions regarding this, please come and see Amy, Natalie or Amy S.
News from Natalie, Jeanna, Lacey, Eva, Sue, Megan, Angela and Hina: Topic: Keeping Safe In our rolling groups we will be talking about fireworks and how to stay safe around them, road safety alongside trips to the zebra crossing to practise our green cross code, how to stay safe in and around our environments. In the setting we will be doing activities to support and encourage health and safety. We will also be making a poopy wreath for Remembrance day which we will be travelling by bus to put on our local war memorial.
Home Mission: When you are out and about be pro-active when staying safe. Take some pictures of you and your child staying safe. This could be at the crossing on the road, cooking at home or even climbing the stairs. Add these pictures to your EY log so we can talk about it within the group times here. Birthdays and Important dates: We would like to wish a very happy birthday to Lisa and Kelvin who turn 4 on the 13th, Malak who turns 3 on the 5th, Eric who turns 3 on the 10th, Mustafa who turns 3 on the 12th. We hope you all have lovely days! Tuesday 7th at 11:00am – Parents in Partnership th Thursday 9 at 3:30pm - Parents in Partnership
Important reminders: - Labels: Please label all bottles, bags, clothes, coats and other accessories you child may bring into the setting. We cannot be held responsible for unlabelled items going missing, children will often have the same belongings so to avoid confusion, please label everything. - Potty Training: If your child is potty training, please dress them in appropriate clothes that are easy to pull up and down. Jeans are a tough thing for a child to get out of as are body grows. Try tracksuit bottoms or leggings to give them a little bit more support. Vests and underwear rather than something with poppers and definitely no dungarees. We speak from experience and it also help your child to feel like they can accomplish potty training without ‘I can’t’ attitudes. - Helpful Handouts: If you, family members or friends are ever having a clear out of resources such as newspapers, egg boxes, containers, clothes, material etc. Please consider us before throwing the away. We use lots of second hand things on a daily basis in both of our settings. - Artwork: Sometimes we can be busy with the children or taking to another parent. Please always look at artwork laid out on tables as it maybe your child’s. If you are not collecting it, you will be given a big handful in a couple of weeks or so.
