Harvard Park Pre-School Isleworth: November Newsletter 2018 News from the Managers, Nicki, Tracey and our deputy Natalie – We would like to start by saying welcome to all of our new children and their families. We feel very privileged that you have chosen Harvard Park to be the first step into your child’s education journey. This is our monthly newsletter. It can be accessed four ways; through our Facebook page, your child’s EyLog profile, through your personal emails and via a paper copy on request. Please make sure you read this as there are important dates and health and safety issues which you need to be aware of. Please make sure you are checking your personal emails (including the junk/spam folder) as we do send out invoices, reminders and other important notices on there. We would like to welcome Nida to our Harvard Park Team!

Wednesday 7th November: Diwali celebrations – 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm (This is for everyone!)

All of you are invited to come and join us in our Diwali celebrations. We will be providing soft drinks and samosas but you are more than welcome to provide some other dishes if you wish too. We will have to be strict on finishing at 4:30 pm as we do have to reset the nursery for the next day! Children can dress up in traditional dress during the day! If your child doesn’t have a traditional dress , something sparkly will do too 

Fruit and Vegetable donations Please!

We would like to say a massive thank you to those of you have been donating weekly! It is great and the children are loving having new fruits and vegetable to taste everyday so keep it up!

Health and Safety: Buggies – a Message from Smallberry Green

Buggies: The shed in the garden opposite our gate is NOT our property. Please do not put your buggies in here. We are not responsible for these if the school chooses to remove them. Your buggies must return home with you. For children who are above 2 ½ and 3 years of age, should be encouraged to walk or use scooters. It is good exercise and good for their physical development.

Labelling items including coats:

Please put names in your child’s coats and hats. We are not responsisible for this going missing if another child has the same item of clothing as another child. Please use a marker pen to do this. If you are unsure on whether or not it belongs to your child, please ask a member of staff.

Encourage your children to self-register:

Most of our children will have a name card now. These are displayed on the board outside. Please allow them to find their own name cards. It is the beginning of them being able to recognise themselves as individuals. If your child does not have a name card, please inform your keyworker and we will try and make one as soon as possible.

Starting Reception Class in September 2019?

If your child was born between 1st September 2014 and 31st August 2015, we will need to apply for a reception class place. The closing date for apllications is 15th January 2019. Hounslow residents must apply online at www.hounslow.gov.uk/admissions . If you need any help or advice, please come and see Natalie.

Please take your cups or bottles home and sterilise them:

Please make sure you are taking your child cups or beakers home, dissembling them and cleaning them thoroughly. This is not our responsibility. This is the kind of mould and dirt which can occur in any type of cup or beaker. Please make sure you are cleaning them thoroughly. 3-4-year old’s: please encourage your child to use our cups and water which are available all through the day. (These are online images not those of anyone who attends the setting).

If your child is sick, going to be absent or going on holiday:

Please inform us if your child will not be attending their session, will be off for a certain amount of days or will be going on holiday. We often need this for funding purposes so please make sure you are dropping us a quick phone call to let us know. Please also be aware that the change in weather will bring out all the coughs, colds and snotty noses in your children. We do have heating so please do not wrap them or layer them up as our building will be warm. You can provide layers for them when they go outside!

News from Jeanna, Lacey, Eva, Emma, Megan, Shamim, Asma and Nida: Topic: Keeping Safe

We have a very busy month ahead of us! Our topic will be keeping safe. This covers things from road safety, safety within the home and staying safe around fireworks and bonfires. We will be using the zebra crossing to talk about road safety and ‘stranger danger’, looking at the safety signs around pre-school and encouraging children to recognise risks during play. th On the 5 November, we will be looking at Bonfire night and how to keep safe around fireworks. We will also be doing some firework activities which involve painting. th On the 7 November we will be celebrating Diwali and pre-teaching this to the children using stories and creative activities. If you have any Diwali decorations that you could donate to the nursery that would be lovely. On the 9th of November we will be creating poppies and looking at Remeberence Sunday. We may even make a wreath and lay it on the local memorial too. At the end of the month we will begin looking at christmas and the story of Christmas. If you have any christmas decorations you wish to donate that would be lovely too!
