Harvard Park Day Nursery Feltham: November Newsletter 2018 News from the Managers, Nicki and Tracey and Deputy Manager, Carol – Sadly we are starting off on a sad note this month; Hubert’s last day with us will be the 20 th. We would like to thank him for all the hard work and support he has given us over his time here and it’s safe to say the children will really miss him. We would like to say happy birthday to Qani, Danielle and Viviana who are all celebrating this month! We hope you all have a lovely day. We would like to welcome Ellie to our team as she will be joining Small Steps over the next couple of weeks.
Tuesday 6th November: Diwali celebrations (This is for all rooms!)
All of you are invited to come and join us in our Diwali celebrations. We will be providing soft drinks and samosas but you are more than welcome to provide some other dishes if you wish too. We will have to be strict on finishing at 7:00 pm as we do have to reset the nursery for the next day! There has been in a change in the date we are doing the celebration for families as a lot of parents couldn’t make the Wednesday! Children can dress up in traditional dress during the day! If your child doesn’t have a traditional dress , something sparkly will do too
Buggies – Please Read as it is an issue:
Unfortunately, we are going to have to request that all buggies should be foldable or umbrella buggies. The larger buggies are taking up too much room and if we cannot find a way to solve this issue we may have to say no to buggies being placed in the lobby. This is a fire exit and in an emergency we use this door. On occasion it has been blocked and this is a very serious issue. IF your child is in FREEDOM ZONE, they should not be coming in a buggy and we are going to start asking you to take them back with you.
Starting Reception Class in September 2019?
If your child was born between 1st September 2014 and 31st August 2015, we will need to apply for a reception class place. The closing date for apllications is 15th January 2019. Hounslow residents must apply online at www.hounslow.gov.uk/admissions . If you need any help or advice, please come and see Carol.
Please take your cups or bottles home and sterilise them:
Please make sure you are taking your child cups or beakers home, dissembling them and cleaning them thoroughly. This is not our responsibility. This is the kind of mould and dirt which can occur in any type of cup or beaker. Please make sure you are cleaning them thoroughly. Freedom Zone: please encourage your child to use our cups and water which are available all through the day. (These are online images not those of anyone who attends the setting).
If your child is sick, going to be absent or going on holiday:
Please inform us if your child will not be attending their session, will be off for a certain amount of days or will be going on holiday. We often need this for funding purposes so please make sure you are dropping us a quick phone call to let us know. We plan activities such as outings which can be affected if we are waiting for you. Please also be aware that the change in weather will bring out all the coughs, colds and snotty noses in your children. We do have underfloor heating so please do not wrap them or layer them up as our building will be warm. You can provide layers for them when they go outside!
Cubby holes:
Please check you child’s cubby holes for art work, letter’s and clothes that may have been left in there. If you are unsure on whether or not it belongs to your child, please ask a member of staff. Also please put names in your child’s coats and hats. We are not responsible for these going missing if another child has the same item of clothing as another child. Please use a marker pen to do this.
P.T.O for room information and Important dates from now until the end of the Year!
News from Baby Studio – Simran, Mary, Nabila, Roshelle and Amanda: We would like to welcome Theo into our room. We would also like to say goobye to Pranav and Lava who will be moving up into Small Steps at the end of the month!
Focus: Personal Social and Emotional Development Our focus on this month will be PSED. We will be doing small group times to encourage children to socialise and interact with one another. Activities will be planned where the children will be given the opportunity to make choices of their own which will allow them to lead the activity how they would like it to be. Our older children will also be given the opportunity to explore Small Steps and reconnect with their old friends. This always helps with a smoother transition come that time.
Home Mission:
Give you child choices at meal times. This could be giving them a choice of their bib, which spoon they would like to eat with or which cup they would like to drink out of. Label the choices you are offering them to help develop language!
Other reminders:
Jackets and shoes: We do go out for regular walks so please provide us with a warm coat and a pair of shoes to keep your child warm.
