Harvard Park Pre-School Isleworth: October Newsletter 2018 News from the Managers, Nicki, Tracey and our deputy Natalie – We would like to start by saying welcome to all of our new children and their families. We feel very privileged that you have chosen Harvard Park to be the first step into your child’s education journey. This is our monthly newsletter. It can be accessed four ways; through our Facebook page, your child’s EyLog profile, through your personal emails and via a paper copy on request. Please make sure you read this as there are important dates and health and safety issues which you need to be aware of. Please make sure you are checking your personal emails (including the junk/spam folder) as we do send out invoices, reminders and other important notices on there. Wednesday 10th October: Our Photographer is in!
Karen, our photographer, will be in in the morning and early afternoon. If you would like your child to have some photos done, please speak to Natalie if this is not your day. If you do not wish for your child to have any photos – inform us otherwise we will assume that you do. They make great gifts for Christmas and are always delivered before then. If you would like more information, please speak to Natalie.

We will be having our annual Halloween party on Halloween this year! Come dressed in your spookiest outfit (please avoid masks) and come and join in in lots of party games and Halloween fun. Due to our high afternoon numbers, we will not be able to swap children’s days around – don’t worry they will not miss out, we will be having Halloween fun all week!
Monday 22nd October: We are CLOSED – Half Term
Please see your copy of term dates for more information. We will be open again on Monday 29 th of October!
Wednesday 7th November: Diwali celebrations
We will be inviting parents in for a little Diwali celebration on this day. Please make a note of it and more information will follow in next months newsletter and in the last week of October.
Fruit and Vegetable donations Please!
In your contracts, it clearly states that you are happy to provide at least one donation of fruit and/or vegetable a week. Unfortunately, we are not getting any donations Please make sure you are contributing to this. Avoid blueberries and pineapple as we have two people with allergies to these fruits. We want to see that fruit basket full! It gives our children opportunities to try something new everyday.
Health and Safety: Buggies and Hot lunches Buggies: The shed in the garden opposite our gate is NOT our property. Please do not put your buggies in here. We are not responsible for these if the school chooses to remove them. Your buggies must return home with you. For children who are above 2 ½ and 3 years of age, should be encouraged to walk or use scooters. It is good exercise and good for their physical development. Hot lunches: We no longer have the facilities to warm up cold food i.e. soup or pasta. Please make sure you are providing a healthy packed lunch for your child which does not need to be heated. If you need some ideas, please speak to your keyworkers.
All about me boxes: Please ensure you are bringing in your all about me boxes. These are boxes created by your child, containing things which are special to them. This can be photo’s, empty packets of their favourite food, some toys (which they will not miss if they get lost) etc. These are great tools for developing language, helping children to settle in and helping them to make friends as our old children love looking at other children’s boxes with us. If you need some ideas or are not sure on what we mean, please speak to your keyworkers.
Please be prompt when dropping off
This is relation to settling in and also when speaking to keyworkers. If it is urgent that you speak to your keyworker about something that happened i.e. an accident or medication, please make sure this is no longer than
10 minutes and please wait until your keyworker is available. If they are not, please come and speak to Natalie as she will also be able to help you. If it is a social chat, please avoid this as our practitioners are starting their focus groups and need to be on the shop floor. We are limited to time restrictions so please respect this and limit drop offs to 3 minutes. Thank you.
Nappies and Wipes
Please bring these in on a daily basis. One nappy or pull up is not enough. Children do not necessarily have toileting habits at this age. We do not have many spares on site so PLEASE pack a good number of nappies, pull ups and wipes into your child’s bag for their session. Thank you.
Starting Reception Class in September 2019?
If your child was born between 1st September 2014 and 31st August 2015, we will need to apply for a reception class place. The closing date for apllications is 15th January 2019. Hounslow residents must apply online at www.hounslow.gov.uk/admissions . If you need any help or advice, please come and see Natalie.

Labelling you items: Please make sure your child’s belongings are labelled. We cannot be held responsible for your items going missing if they have no names on them. Children will have the same coats, bags or bottles sometimes, this cannot be helped. You can help us by writing your child’s name inside them.
