Harvard Park Day Nursery Feltham: September Newsletter 2015.

News from the Managers Nicki and Tracey –

Firstly, we would like to welcome all of our new parents into our Harvard Park family. Our newsletter just gives you an sight into things which will happen during each month. You will receive an electronic copy via email, there will be paper copies in the setting and a version will be available for you on our Facebook page. Please read them as they have some important items which may need addressing by yourselves. Secondly, we would like to wish Sam a very happy birthday for this month. We would like to congratulate Chelsea and Sam on their new promotions as they have both become group leaders for their rooms. Below is a table of practitioners in each room, we had a few hiccups with recruitment: Baby Studio Small Steps Freedom Zone Sana Mary Nabila Holly Sam Sonia Viviana Chelsea Gurpreet Marisa Mandy Esra Qani Myra Pauline Kulwinder Sherry Simran Vaida Claire So we would like to welcome Esra, Claire and Katie to our team, and they will be introducing themselves as and when they start, so please make sure you say hello. We would like to thank Paris, Pele and their family for the clothes donation. They have come in very handy so thank you again. We have a request from the rooms, if you are running late, even if it is just 5 minutes please call. Sometimes it can be a bit distressing for a child if they are the last one left with no explanation. Ideally, you should be here 5:50pm at the latest for sufficient feedback. After this time, it is hard for our staff to finish their checks if they are providing feedback. As from September 2015, we would really appreciate the use of umbrella buggies as we have very limited space to store the larger buggies. If they are not folded or do not fit in our storage containers, then as of September, you will be asked to take them with you. Please also ensure that your contact details are correct and update mobile numbers if they have changed.

News from Deputy Carol-

From September, Book bags will be available for Freedom Zone to purchase. We will be running a Harvard Park library where children will be able to select their own books. At home, you can read to your child and look at these books, commenting in their reading record which we will provide. For the older children who are excelling at phonics, these can be used to hold their words to transport them to and from nursery. We to remind you that birthday cakes and gifts are ok however sweets and party bags are not. If you would like to give a gift of a new toy or book towards your room that would be lovely, similarly a healthy treat such as fruit bags or raisin boxes can be taken home by the children. If you are supplying a cake, a supermarket character cake is fine; if you are making or supplying amore extravagant cake, a list of ingredients is required.

Hello, we would like to start by saying goodbye to all of our older children who are moving into Small Steps and welcome to all of our new babies; Maksim, Aliana, Tanya, Tanay, Kiaan and Aryan! As a room we will be helping these new children settle, create bonds with their key workers as well as with other practitioners and encourage them to explore their new setting. Our activities will vary and include group times using our song bags, short story bags and our language boxes. We will also be encouraging our children to engage in messy activities such as water play and jelly play alongside lots of mark making and balloon play!. We would like to advise all parents to make sure that their child’s belongings are labelled with their names, as well as dress appropriately according to the weather. about, which do involve getting out of the buggies or bus, so please provide a pair of shoes for your child too. If your child has a comfort object, please do not be afraid to bring it in to help them settle. If you child has milk while they are at the setting, please could we ask that you provide 2 bottles. Sometimes, if we are extremely busy it is hard for us to sterilise them and get them clean ready for their next feed. If we had 2 bottles just for milk, this would speed up that process. Thank You. Your mission this month is to: - Get messy at home! Messy play is vital for a child’s learning. Encourage them to eat by themselves at meal times or ask us for a puff pastry recipe! Dates and notes: - We have no birthdays or reminders for this month.

News from Bunnies –Holly, Sam, Sonia, Qani and Myra: Hello there! We’d like to wish all of our new children and parents a big warm welcome into Small Steps! We hope you all enjoy your time with us. This month’s topic is getting to know you and sensory exploration. To allow us as practitioners to learn more about the children, we will be carrying out lots of fun activities such as food tasting, junk modelling, jelly play, dancing and trips around our local area. These will help us to discover children’s like/dislikes, behaviour patterns and most importantly, their interests. We will be doing lots of messy play and creative activities, so please be aware that clothes may get dirty, even though aprons are always used. Language is a big part of your child’s development and something we strongly focus on. We encourage them to talk in everyday situations, label objects and create different sounds. Please try to do the same at home. Use short clear words and in smaller sentences to support their communication skills. Pleas also ensure that your child’s school bag is well equipped with outfit changes and sufficient wipes, nappies/pull-ups and cream. Remember to sign your child in and out as our sheets are used in emergency evacuations. Thank You  Just to let all parents know that when your child’s daily book has finished, we will not be replacing them. They are very time consuming and take away valuable time spent with the children. Verbal feedback will be given every day by practitioners, so any points or discussions can be made then.

Your mission this month is to: -Talk to your child about their new teachers, friends and surroundings; Betty the snail is normally a winner! This will help with their social skills and assist a smooth transistion.

Dates and notes: We would like to wish David a happy 2nd birthday for the 28th of this month. We would also like to wish Sam a happy birthday for the 13th.
