Harvard Park Day Nursery Feltham: SeptemberNewsletter 2016. News from the Managers, Nicki and Tracey and Deputy Manager, Carol – Firstly, we would like welcome all of our new parents and staff to our Harvard Park family. We would also like to say Goodbye to those of you who are leaving us this month. We feel very privileged that you chose us to give your child their first steps into education. We wish you all the best for the future and keep in touch! We would also like to welcome Sukrage into Small Steps. She will introduce herself during the course of this month. A very serious reminder: Please DO NOT bring in sweets, cereal bars or anything that contains nuts or sesame seeds into our setting. We have a child who has a very sever allergy as well as a member of staff and a parent who all need emergency medication administered if they have a reaction. We are very serious about this so please do not bring them in. We think it is great that so many of you are riding scooters of bikes to nursery, however the bikes are a little bit too big for our lobby  Where possible could you please ride a scooter instead of a bike to save space in our lobby, thank you. By now you should have all received your new invoices, any questions or queries please see us in the office. This is a message to all rooms: Please sign your child in and out of the building when you arrive and leave. This document is in aid of child-protection and health and safety. If in a fire evacuation, we use this to register the children to see who are present. We also use it to regularly head count during the day. DO not use your phones whilst in the room. Our practitioners have the right to ask you to move to the lobby if they see you on your mobile. It is a safeguarding and child-protection issue. As you know we have had some room changes which will also mean some key-worker changes. We would like to remind you that while your child is at Harvard Park, everyone looks after your child. Their keyworker is there to track and monitor their development and construct their learning journals. We try to stick with full time practitioners having full time key children so it is easier for everyone to gather what is required for their learning and development. Morning attenders will have a morning practitioner and afternoon attenders will have an afternoon practitioner. On occasion, a full child who does full days may have a morning or afternoon practitioner. This is fine because all the practitioners will be able to feedback at the end of the day as well as add things to their learning journals. We, as managers, think long and hard about which child will fit in with which practitioner. Below is a table of the practitioners in your child’s room: Baby Studio Small Steps Freedom Zone

We will also be providing children with lots of different and new activities to find out what you child likes and dislikes are and if they have changed. If they have just started, we will focus on creating new and strong bonds with your child so they get to feel safe, comfortable and happy with us. We do and can provide some free tubs of milk powder, so please ask a member of Baby Studio staff for more information. Thank you. Please remember to sign you child in and out of our room. These documents are very important during an evacuation, so please do so before leaving the room. Your mission this month is to: - Encourage your child to feed themselves at home. We know they will get messy so leave them in a baby grow or in the warmer weather jut their nappy. Wrap the highchair in Clingfilm or put newspaper under their chair to prevent further mess. Give them a spoon and you have a spoon to model the good eating . They will get the hang of it in no time 

News from Bunnies –Holly, Sam, Sukrage and Gurpreet: Firstly we would like to say a warm hello to all of our new staff, parents and children into our room and say a sad goodbye to all of our children who have already or are moving up into Freedom Zone over the upcoming weeks. This month’s topic will be focusing on ‘all about me’. To highlight this amazing topic, the children will be participating in lots of different fun activities such as mirror drawing, family puppet books and creating some self-portraits. These activities will help to develop the children’s understanding of themselves, their families and their friends. If you have any food boxes or packaging (no carrier bags, tins or glass) which we can add to our home corner, we would love them to develop our imaginary play. A few reminders for this month: - Name cards: Please encourage your child to find their name card when they enter the settings in the morning AND afternoon.
