Birthdays for the month of September:

Freedom Zone: Happy3rd birthday to Kabir and Liam! Happy 4th Birthday to Aahan and Sapphire!

• When parking at the back of the nursery, please remember this is not our land we are not responsible for any tickets you may receive. Please also be very mindful of the safety others such as children and parents leaving, pedestrians and others that use this entrance. We have had reports from the Centre Security that some individuals are not being safe. If this continues we will have to stop using this entrance and exit.

• Posting on the EyLog we understand you are busy and have busy lives but when you have freetime’s in the evening, please make sure you are interacting and posting on the EyLog App. We are monitoring who is posting / interacting and who is not. If we do not increase out Parent Input we may have to reconsider the amount of work our practitioners put in. They work hard to produce a lovely learning journal for your child when they leave however if we do not have input from parents, we are not working together in our parent’s in partnership.

Please do not dress your child in their best clothes, we promote messy play children have accidents and stains occur. It is something we say when you first start with us, old clothes are best! We do have uniform for sale if this something you would be interested in.

Appropriate Clothing which reflect the weather: Please may we remind you that how you dress your child before their session is important. We do go out on walks so thick tracksuits in hot weather or summer dresses on a very windy day are not classed as appropriate. Child should feel comfortable in the clothes they are wearing the same as you would do too. Crop tops or belly tops are not acceptable for any age groups, shoulders and tummies should be covered at all time.

Veclro shoes to support independence: We are asking you to provide Velcro shoes for children in Small Steps and Freedom Zone starting from now and will be in full force by September.

It’s thestart of a new School year which means lots of new learning, laughter and fun to be had! Unfortunately during themonth of August, Natasha had to leave us very abruptly due to a change in her circumstances.We wish heall thebest for her future.We would also like to say a very sad goodbye to Martina whose last day will be Friday 16th September - We will miss you very much and wish you all thebest!

Any medication that is given to the nursery MUST be given in it’s original box. All prescribed medicine must have a clear label along with the box. We will not be able to accept any medication if it doesn’t meet these requirements.

If your child is going to Reception next September,make appointments to go and have a look around your local schools. It is importantto look at whatis available to you as whatis closest mightnot be thebest option for you and your family.

We are currently in theprocess of recruiting practitioners to fulfil these roles so please bear with us while we find theperson who fits this roleperfectly.If you know of anyonewho hold a level 3 qualification in childcare and are looking for a job please ask them to get in touch with us.A few little reminders for September:

Harvard Park Day Nursery

Firstly some sad news to share We would like to say goodbye to Martina who will be leaving us on Friday 16th September and to Sonia who is joining theTiger Club.Martina is moving out of thearea and it will be too far for her to travel to us thank you for everything and both the teamand thechildren will miss you terribly!We would like to welcome Dylan,Micaiah and Anthony intoour room too! We are currently in theprocess of recruiting a new practitioner to fulfil thisrole so please bear with us while we find theperson who fits this roleperfectly.

 If it is cold when you leave thehouse, please bring a coat with you - when we go out for walks, if your child doesn’t have a coat they may not be able to join us as we do not keep spares on site.

We would like to start by welcoming Teddy,Connor, Matias, Mikolaj,Ralph and Ines into our room we are so lucky you have chosen us to help start your educational journey’s and welcome to our room.

 Please make sure that you have pack a minimum of 2 spare sets of clothes that are weather appropriate.They will getmessy, their nappies may leak and we need clothes that match the weather to change them into—thank you.

Focus: Personal, Social, Emotional development-Getting to Know You!

 Velcro Shoes and shoes that are the correct size: We are asking you to provide Velcro shoes for children starting from now and will be in full force by September. This is to promote independence as well as giving children a sense of their abilities. When we give children shoelaces we are setting them up to fail in completing simple tasks such as taking shoes and socks off please consider purchasing Velcro shoes for September.

 Please label ALL babiesbottles and clothes. Bottles are importantto be label so there is noconfusion and thesame with items of clothing.Please ensure you are bring thecorrect amount of bottles needed for your child’sday i.e. 2 milk times need 2 milk bottles and a water bottle.

Notes from Small Steps: Bunnies Qani, Martina and Harriet:

 Please be on time: Breakfast finished at 9:00am - unfortunately we cannot extend this as we have other duties we need to complete at this time.Morning latest pick up is 12:50 pm, Evening latest pick up is 5:50 pmif you would like detailed feedback.If you arrive after this time, please do not expect detailed feedback as we need to finish our duties.

To help support thetopic thechildren of Small Steps will be creating bonds with their new key person, building friendships andhelping thenew children to settlein and looking at our family’s.We have family albums and family photo’s in thehome corner where children can talk about who are special to them. If you have just started with us please send us some family photo’s so we can create these items for your child.Don’t forgetto provide a water bottledaily as well!

Babies learn to develop their communication in a number of different ways.As we have many younger babies with us, we will support this development through lots of gestures, imitation,pointing and simple baby Makaton.Facial expression is also importantfor growingbabies as it helps them to register emotions.

With our older babies, we will plan lots of activities that promote language development through song times, story boxes, small group activities and through everyday interactions as well as simple Makaton signs too. Babies express themselves throughdifferent ways (not just words) and we support them through age and individual stageappropriateactivities.

Week 1: Meand my Family Week 2: Interests, like and dislikes Week 3: Size, height, age and name

Week 4: Facial features, body and focusing on the3 primeareas.

Flowing intoOctober and our 6 weekly learning programme we will focus on 2 stories relating to the theme. We are trying a new system where we focus our learning to co insidewith theformat of our Learning Journal system, ending in a 6 week summary of how thechildren have goton with their targetswe setat thebeginning.This theme helps us to understand our children more as we as scaffold their learning around their interests.So please look out for your child’s targets and homework on theEyLog so you can further this learning at home.

 Please update your family photo’ s: If you have moved into this room or have been with us for a while, please send through some more family photo’s as some of them look like babies! If you are joining Freedom Zone, we use family photo’s in our family albums and help children to settle in. You can send them via Email or by posting them on the EyLog.

As theseasons are changing and Autumn is nearly here, ensure you areenjoying theweather, talk about thechanges you can see happening such as the leaves changing coulour, conkers forming, acorns falling and changes in theweather. You can always bring in any items you find on your walks and add them to our Autumn Talking Table!

 If there are any aspects of your child’s development or education that you are finding challenging or are not sure how you can help them aside from the amazing job you are already doing please speak to your child’s keyworker or room leader and we can arrange a time to discuss this in private. We are here to help and as we all know every littlehelps!

 For those children who are potty training: Ifyour child is potty training, please wear shoes such as crocs or shoes which can be rinsed and will dryquickly this is to help with accidents and to ensure your child will have shoes for therest of their day.We will ask you to provide extra shoes if you do not provide us with these as we have nospare shoes!
