Notes from the management team - our Directors Nicki and Tracey and our Manager Poonam: Welcome to Harvard Park Pre-School. For some of you it’s a new welcome and for others it’s a welcome back. We hope you had a lovely summer and are ready to learn! At the end of July, Sima handed in her notice and has not returned - we wish her all the best in her new job role. However we would like to come Rhea and Olivia to our team as well as our manager Poonam! Does anyone need to update their details? Over the summer if you have a new mobile number or have moved house, let us know of your new details so we can change it on our systems. Similarly if you need to update your emergency contacts you can do this as well. Have you downloaded and signed yourself up to ParentMail and EyLOG? If you haven't done so or are having trouble figuring out the systems, please let us know at your first meeting or when you are dropping off and we can help you. Any medication that is given to us MUST come in it’s original box where the dosage is clearly labelled and we are able to read it. If the box or medication does not reach this reequipment we will be unable to take it from you. If your child has had an accident over the weekend or had to go to hospital for any reason - you MUST inform us. It is important for us to know if there is anything we should be looking out for such as drowsiness or pain. Absences and holiday - We have attached a letter for you to read regarding absences and holidays. You must in form us if your child will not be in for any reason. Please read this letter as it states that you are at risk of losing your funding if you do not access it fully.

No open-toed sandals—this is a big health and safety risk. Please make sure they children are wearing sandals with closed in toes and straps to secure them to their feet.

As the weather is changing, please make sure you are starting to provide a light jacket for outside play and feel free to bring in water bottles too.

Anyone who has started potty training over the summer - don’t forget to let us know so we can support you too!

Notes from your Pre-School Teachers: Jeanna, Roshelle, Shalyna, Cathy, Tavnish, Olivia, Rhea and Hibo: Focus: Getting to know you, Sensory Investigation and People who help us – Teachers! Moving into a new school year, we are going to change things up a little bit. Alongside our topics and celebrations, we will be having focus stories and focus songs as well. This is to help children develop language as well as an understanding of story structure, rhythm and rhyme. To help support the topic above we will be doing lots of sensory activities involving wet and dry textures so please make sure all children are dressed in clothes that you do not mind getting messy. We will also be exploring the role of teachers and how they help us - this will include lots of role play as well as getting to know each other. Our September books will be: - Owl Babies by Martin Waddell - We’re Going on a bear Hunt by Michael Rosen - The Colour Monster by Anna Llenas - In every house on every street by Jessica Hitchman - What makes me a me? By Ben Faulks andDavid Tazzyman Our September songs will be Head shoulders knees and toes, If your happy and you know it andTommy Thumb! All of these can be found on YouTube if you don’t have a physical copy of the stories, but please try to look at them with your children to help support them with this learning and singing! Reminders: 

Breakfast needs to be eaten at home and not on the way to pre-school. We have had 3 incidences where children have come in with products containing nuts. We have severe allergies in the setting and this is A BIG NO. If you arrive and your child is still eating we will ask you to wait with your child outside the playground in the forest area while they finish their food.

If your child is in nappies and not potty training, please ensure they are in nappies and not pull ups. It becomes very confusing for the child when it comes to potty training times as they see or feel no difference between a pull up and a nappy. If your child comes in a pull up and they are not potty training—we will ask you to come and change them as it takes a long time to change pull ups when you have to complete 14 nappies to co-inside with our routine.

Velcro shoes to support independence: We are starting from now and will be in full force by well as giving children a sense of their abilities. them up to fail in completing simple tasks such as chasing Velcro shoes for September.

We understand there is a lot of information to take on - please ask if you don’t understand anything.
