Retail Fashion Showroom
This project was creating a retail fashion showroom for an Italian designer, Italo Marseglia. This space was created in Rome, Italy and was a remodel of the current building where the restaurant, Ducati Cafe is located. Italo Marseglia used a formula called Reiman’s hypothesis-- a math equation that created a four-sided figure with two lines crossing in the middle that continue on to infinity-- to create the folds in his clothing. Math is a very important aspect to him, so we used the shape created from the hypothesis creates to create our space. 1

This was a project with a given client who was a son who lives with his wheelchair bound mother. With limited space, our task was to give them their perfect space while facing many restrictions such as plumbing wall locations, spatial issues, and accessibility codes. 7

This project presented us with the task of using the style of a specific architect, Tadao Ando, and mixing his style with a completely different culture, Moroccan. The purpose of the space was to be a showroom/exhibit space to display the architects work through his lifetime. The shell of the building was the Tadao Ando influence and the Moroccan came through in the interior.

This space was a high-end residential project with a neoclassical inspired interior space using only the best materials possible. Not only did the clients request a neoclassical inspired space, they asked for their prized artwork from Christie’s to be incorporated into the space. Images, such as these above, were used for inspiration throughout the project. 15
