Things I Wish I Knew When I Joined Thirty One! •

PRAY for your business. Your #1 business partner is Jesus. You can NEVER out-­‐give Him, and He can totally bless your socks off. You just joined a TEAM! You are not a lone ranger – do NOT try to do this alone! You have a whole group of ladies who are on the same journey you are and they are waiting to answer your questions, celebrate with your victories, cheer you through your challenges and share their experiences with you. Don’t miss out on this! o Reach out to me! I am your #1 fan – I want you to succeed! I want to pray for you, encourage you, cheer you on – and the best way for me to do that is if you reach out to me. I can’t help you if I don’t know you need help. o Borrow, don’t buy! You will be amazed at how fast you will earn your inventory for free – through StartSwell, incentives, hostess rewards, etc. In the meantime, if you need a bag/business supply/etc for a party – just reach out to the team! If I can’t help you, one of the girls would gladly let you use what you need. The goal is to earn a paycheck – not to spend it all on inventory.  o Go to Celebrate & Connect (C&C) meetings. Not only is this a great time to learn what’s coming up in the Thirty One world – but more importantly you are meeting the ladies on your team, building relationships AND you get a free amenity!  o Go to National Conference. Thirty One offers the Conference Bucks incentive to help pay your way to conference, and it’s one of the top ways to help your business grow. You will receive training, tons of free amenities, catch a vision for what Thirty One can do for you and so much more! o Build YOUR team from Day 1! If I could go back to the beginning I would share the Thirty One opportunity from my very first party – there is no reason to wait! If it’s such a blessing to you, then share it! Not only does it help others, but it will help your paycheck too-­‐ you get $100 extra for every girl that joins & qualifies during your first 120 days! o Put Home Office’s number (614.414.4300) in your speed dial! We have an AMAZING home office team –I can’t imagine doing my job without them. I can not stress enough how much they will bend over backwards to help you out and keep your customers happy! If you have any questions, concerns, issues at all – CALL THEM. But remember – they are humans too, so treat them with respect and kindness! o Don’t reinvent the wheel! There are so many talented ladies in Thirty One – and most of them are willing to share their fliers, spreadsheets, etc. If you are looking for something, reach out and ask! It’s a good chance someone else has already put the time into it – no need to waste yours. Write out your “Why” (be specific) and put it somewhere you can see it. Your business will have lots of ups – but it will also have some downs. There will be times when it’s hard to pick up the phone, or you’ve had a long day and you just don’t feel like putting in an order – and you’ll need to have your “Why” to push through. My daughter Bri is my “Why” – I want to see her first steps, hear her first words and so I have a picture of her on my desk. Use your Party Cards and the Dice Game! The reason I give these to you as a welcome gift is because I believe in them! I strongly believe these are a successful way to do an effective party, show your guests your job is doable, and book future parties! If you look too professional, put-­‐ together and perfect then your job looks impossible! Be REAL, be humble (I knocked over my drink at my first 3 parties!), laugh at your mistakes and HAVE FUN!!!


Practical things from Day #1: o Don’t throw away your hot pink box (the one your enrollment kit comes in)! You won’t get another one of those –and they are great for setting up displays! Break it down and slide behind a bookshelf or something. o Open another email to use for Thirty One. You are going to want to keep your business and personal life separate. Note: remember, Thirty One’s new rules are that you can’t have “31” or “Thirty One” in your email. (I joined before this rule – hence, my email.) Be creative! o Get familiar with your Back Office and ThirtyOneToday.com (TOT)  Your back office (www.mythirtyone.com/yourconsultantID) is where you place orders, keep track of returns, order business supplies, enter new contacts, etc.  Thirty One Today is FULL of resources. • The most recent business updates (low inventory items, back ordered items), the most recent updates, specials. • Training – there are HOURS of training calls on everything you can imagine. Want to learn how to book parties? Recruit? Do vendor shows? There’s a call for that! • Toolbox – this is where you can download PDF copies of almost anything you would need (recruit fliers, hostess fliers, monthly specials). • Incentives – Keep track of incentives, see FAQ, print out charts to keep track of your progress! • Events – this is where you can sign up for the upcoming C&C meetings, National Conference, or any other events. o Open a separate bank account/debit card to use for Thirty One. This is a benefit for many reasons – it helps keep track of business expenses for your own purposes and for taxes. It also helps you see how much you are making vs how much you are spending. o Keep track of your mileage & receipts. Find a method that works for you and stick with it. Put a notebook in your car and write down where you go for Thirty One – errands, parties, meeting with prospective recruits, etc. Keep an envelope in your purse for Thirty One related receipts. It’s a LOT easier to keep track along the way and it’s a HUGE pain to try to figure it out when you are turning in taxes – believe me.  o Take out 25% of your paycheck for taxes and LEAVE it. Thirty One doesn’t take out taxes, and so it is your responsibility to put that money aside until tax time. Do whatever you need to so you don’t touch it. If you don’t need it for taxes then you get an extra nice “refund” – if you do then it’s right there waiting! What you do NOW for your business will be evident in 3 months. Don’t give up when you don’t see instant results from your work – stick with it! o Strive to earn every incentive offered! Thirty One offers tons of incentives – there is almost always one going on. Even if you don’t reach it, you will be actively working your business and it will benefit you in the long run! o Earn all four levels of Start Swell.  Your 4 levels of Start Swell are broken down into 30 day segments – your day #1 is the day AFTER you join. You need to turn in at least $600 of volume in each of your 30 day segments to earn your StartSwell levels. • Level 1 (Days 1-­‐30) – turn in $600+ • Level 2 (Days 31-­‐60) – turn in $600+ • Level 3 (Days 61-­‐90) – turn in $600+ • Level 4 (Days 91-­‐120) – turn in $600+


If you earn all 4 levels of Start Swell you will have earned at least $500+ worth of product and business supplies to use for your business!! You will have been working your business and starting strong! You will also have earned at least $600 in commission. You earn $100 extra for each lady that joins your team and qualifies during your first 120 days (4 months). Start them off strong!

o Follow-­up! Only a very small percentage of direct sales consultants ever follow up with their customers – it makes you stand out and is great customer service. I touch base with my customers within 1-­‐2 weeks after I know they have received their order. This is how you find out if a customer needs an exchange/return, wants to book a party or wants to join your team! Don’t miss out on this easy way to get future orders, bookings or recruits! Placing an order: o The tax rate for an order depends on where it is being shipped. All orders on a party order that are being shipped to the hostess will have the hostess’ tax rate. If someone chooses to have their order “direct shipped” to their house then their tax rate might be different depending on their address. o To have a party order shipped to you instead of the hostess:  Choose “Hostess Credit” on the drop down menu on the top left and then type “ship” in the item box. Then choose “yes” to ship to consultant. o To put in Hostess Credits, Exclusives, Etc:  Use the drop down menu on the left to choose what kind of item you are putting in. If your party reaches $1200+ you have to choose “Hostess Exclusive FREE-­‐1 $1200” instead of just “Hostess Exclusive” o Payments:  We accept all major credit cards (American Express, Discover, Mastercard, Visa)  You can decide if you want to accept checks. If I know the hostess and trust her guests I will. If I’m not sure – I only accept cash or credit. If you do accept checks, then they will make it out to YOU, you will put that amount on your own debit/credit card when closing the party, deposit the checks into your bank account and use that money to pay off the card.  You can put in payments as you put in the individual orders – a notice will pop up that says “make sure all personalization is correct as you can not go back to change it” but you CAN go back and forth between “payments” and the order. It is not officially submitted until you click the “Submit the Order to Home Office” button.  You can also move between putting in an order and other tabs in your back office without losing your “place.” The website will automatically save as you put in the orders.
