The renovation to Creative Matter’s studio aims to seamlessly bring together the staff and their clients by blurring the line between private and public zones - specifically the access to the showroom, work areas, and storage. The parti is formed by the triple height millwork which vertically connects the floors and stores the archive and the living collection of samples and final products. The collection is accessible to both clients and the staff from various levels of the building, and is also seen on display at a grand scale. The curve of the drop ceiling is dominant in the space, creating a spiritual experience for users who are choosing samples to work with. Another focus is the Creative Studio which follows the interior glass courtyard typology in order to spatially stand out, while figuratively symbolizing the hands-on and experimental approach of the Creative Matters workflow.

02 2021 Third Year Project
AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, Vray, Photoshop, Illustrator
The purpose of the project aims to fulfill Unity’s goals, which is to provide a safe space for young individuals to build their internal resilience and to support their mental health through hip-hop and related programming. Unity’s creative practices are implemented through the spatial form making ideas involved through the renovation of the heritage-designated warehouse in Toronto’s Lower Junction Triangle. The new space aims to stand at the conjunction of art, performance, and community building. This institution offers a multipurpose dance studio/events hall, cafe, maker spaces, gallery, public co-work space, audiovisual room and DJ booth. New interventions establish a close dialogue with the rawness of the existing concrete columns and flooring to maintain unobtrusive to the history of the building. Spatial applications revive the industrial nature of the space through the lighting design and the minimal materiality.

There is use of a clustered program strategy with a central cafe area that branches off into cultural or community spaces. This approach to organizing space informs the circulation which spreads users out to explore separate programs, while the cafe becomes a pass-through and resting space.
Program Organization Parti
The response to the client’s program is to establish a hierarchy between spaces according to their activities. The communal (cafe and cowork) are central areas that connect to the cultural spaces. Areas like the art studio and events hall/dance studio are created with a view from above, contrasted with the secluded recording studio or audiovisual room which requires acoustic or visual barriers. The DJ booth also becomes a playful space within a space to be explored at the central cafe area.

Fortezza del Girifalco
03 2022 Fourth Year Italy Study Abroad Project
AutoCAD, Rhino, Vray, Photoshop, Illustrator, Procreate In Collaboration with Katie Zhang
The renewed fortezza rejuvenates the Cortona experience for both visitors of the town by creating a connection between the new programmatic activities for residents to live, work and play. The design promotes a sense of community by engaging residence accommodations with a central amphitheatre. The space is populated with those who stay for exhibitions in the adjacent galleries, cafe, restaurant, and library. The project aims to attract people of all ages to live long term at the fortezza by providing food, entertainment, art, and culture. Our interpretation of ‘Legacy of the Past’ includes modern interventions that bridge the gap between old and new, and locals and visitors. The design features new circulatory paths and accessible alternatives both above and underground, and communal spaces to encourage community engagements. The modern forms of the interventions differentiate from the site’s morphology to further perpetuate its new identity in the castle’s ongoing history and legacy. While the existing interiors are reprogrammed to include private and public zones to support the arts and cultural life of visitors, and maintain longterm residents in adjacent accommodation units.

Hotel Ensemble brings together the local commmunity and travelers visiting the Annex in Toronto, renewing old ideas of a hotel into a place that is socially energized. It features a restaurant and lounge, cafe, and a community library with direct access to the suite rooms via “the Bridge”. The double height library brings nature indoors where the grand stairs act like the mountain overlooking a meadow. The same wood material in the library continues into the floor finish for the guest rooms. During a time of digital culture, the hotel aims to reconnect people through the simplicity of cuisine, knowledge and communication. The hotel not only becomes a place to stay, but a place to build upon the lives of one another.

05 2020 Independent Project
AutoCAD, 3DsMax, Vray, Photoshop, Illustrator
Indeed Laboratories is a Canadian skincare brand with its newest showroom in Downtown Toronto. This was an individual conceptual project done after gathering client and site information during my internship at a firm that specializes in commercial, retail, and hospitality design. The cleanliness of Indeed’s branding reflects into the store design, where product testing stations are designed to fit with a custom designed translucent curved polycarbonate structure. Sample products are shared between two users sitting at each vanity at opposite sides. This separation introduces a feeling of privacy as if consumers are testing the cosmetics as they do at home. The minimal interior and lighting design is influenced through the company’s pursuit in innovative skincare products that is revolutionary and accessible for all skin types and age groups.
