O B J E C T I V E

The Ohasi family migrated from Japan to New York City. The family of four consists of a married couple Arthur and Hiroku Ohashi, with an infant daughter Jennifer and Arthur’s widowed grandmother Ryoko. The home is to have contemporary aesthetics, that compliments Traditional Japanese domestic elements.

S O L U T I O N

The Ohashi residence will incorporate Mid Century Modern aesthetics thatcompliment the traditional aesthetics of inviting nature into one’s home. To respectfully incorporate Japanese traditions a tokonoma will be designed that opens to a beautiful Japanese Garden. Inspired by the Singleton house created by Richard Neutra. The wide windows, Simple clean lines, and the incorporation of geometric minimalism, rich textiles, wooden elements, wooden doors, and universal design for Ryoko.

O B J E C T I V E

The Tremont Clinic, a boutique healthcare facility that specifically targets baby boomers, marries traditional treatments along with holistic approaches to healthcare. Tremont Clinic is looking to remodel the entire facility with new interiors, and branding. The Yoga + Therapy Clinic will administer Traditional Physical therapy to baby boomers as well as holistic Yoga therapy. The yoga classes offer different varieties that are beneficial to different levels of physical movements.

C O N C E P T

&

S O L U T I O N

The round aesthetics of the yoga room will be carried throughout the space of layered round ceilings. Circular flooring design color coded to navigate the patients to desired treatments. An open waiting room concept to bring in a warm concept while waiting, also a green smoothie bar to comfort clients. The aesthetics of the overall design is to bring comfort and reduce the everyday anxiety when visiting your doctors offices with natural light and a continuous flow the space that connects to every service area.

DESIGN OBJECTIVE

SOLUTIONS

FLOOR TO CEILING WINDOWS

A suburban township had decided to remodel an existing residential floor plan and convert it into a tenant improvement office space. The space will provide a meeting space for small organizations. The range of activities will be provided for adolescents 8 to 16 for chess club, overnight supervised activities, and the community newsletter. Flexibility of the space and equipment is essential. Providing a space that invites natural light. Simple egress from entrance to the gathering areas. Flexibility in the space implemented with NANAWALL solution to allow supervision of overnight activities. Removable furniture to allow flexibility of the space for different activities. The use of trapezoid desk will ensure a variety of seating arrangements for specific activities.

BRIGHT COLORS

COLOR SCHEME The Rosslyn Key Community Center an open aesthetic and featured colors of greens, and orange. The floor to ceiling windows and NANAWALLS will have the aesthetics of an open concept with out the lack of privacy to programs occupying the gathering space. A very simple and minimal design is best for the space to suite every demographic.

The general family size in Vietnam is a 4-person household. Many homes are destroyed and cannot hold up against Monsoons, Typhoons, floods, dry season, wet season, and dry season. The relief home is to last 2 years until a permanent home is built. There life home is to be around 450 sqft. The family is to have a home that meets the everyday need and culturally.

C O N C E P T

S O L U T I O N

To fully execute a temporary home to withstand Vietnam’s dangerous environmental factors is to create a home with a solid foundation that meets all comfortable living conditions. The home will be constructed with available resources. Many windows installed to promote ventilation due to lack of HVAC system. A rest room will be installed and an outdoor shower. The water will be provided by rainfall which is collected from the roof. Vietnam has a water pollution problem which is why the roof is to collect the rainfall for different uses. Walls in the home will be made of natural resources. The walls are movable to add to ventilation and manipulate the space. The foundation will be lifted off the ground, and built on cement stilts. This will help break the tension of flooding and harsh wind pushing against the house. The inside of the home will have a loft set up to where the bedrooms will only be on the second floor to which has no walls. The first floor will have the kitchen centralized due to traditions, and a prayer room. The prayer room will serve as a multipurpose room where the family will eat as well.
