PAVILHAO DO BRASIL NA EXPO DUBAI | Year: 2018 | Team: MMBB arquitetos, JPG.ARQ, Ben-Avid Arq, Tomรกs Quaglia, Seizen Uehara, Emilia Darricades | Type: Brasil national competition - To be built in 2020. | Location: Dubai, Arab Emirates (UAE). The pavilion presents the Brazilian waters, its rivers and its mangroves. It arises from the fertility of life, a natural heritage which gives the basis for the discussion of sustainability on the planet. With a steel tensile structure and light white fabric, it forms a screen able to receive projections, creating an immersive atmosphere of variable images, sounds, smells and temperature over a winding water road. } It is an animation and interaction place with distinct scenic character. At the same time, it is a visualization and experimentation scenario of a nature and a culture geared towards both on the past and the future. In this way, sustainability is preserved and promoted through technology.

NAVE CREATIVA | Year: 2018 | Team: Santiago Etchegoin, Francisco Figueroa, Tomรกs Quaglia, Seizen Uehara | Type: Argentina national competition. | Location: Mendoza City, Mendoza, Argentina. The main concept of the proposal is the search for a balance between the respect of the identity of the entire building and the incorporation of a new element in the interior, which is necessary to enable a new use of space which fosters innovation and collaborative work. The architectural planning is structured into two large longitudinal spaces. On one side stands the block, more introspective but permeable, that contains the activities that require a greater level of control and acoustic, climatic, security and privacy protection, along with the layout of service areas. On the other side, the free ground plan which is set up as large multipurpose space that can integrate a broad range of manifestations, presentations and activities due to its flexibility thereby making it possible a meeting and exchange environment both creative and social to democratize the access to digital manufacturing and new technologies. This ample space puts in value the existing tree and incorporates it as the main character of it, setting up a central place in the proposal. To emphasize and to boost the integration with the city, a full connection with the Paseo Antonio Di Benedetto is posed, not only through a large access, but also with the total expansion of this free floor plant in its south faรงade. 13

CIPOLLETTI HEADQUARTERS | Year: 2018 | Team: Agustín Berzero,Valeria Jaros, Agustín Lozada, Emilia Darricades, Tomás Quaglia, Juan Bidart, Ignacio Bianchini, Luciano Civitate, Alejandro Garzón. | Type: Argentina national competition. | Location: Cipolletti, Río Negro, Argentina. The urban proposal for Alem headquarter belonging to the center civic of Cipolletti, should be understood as a harmonious whole in which coexist and complement the municipal central building, houses, shops and different types of open, public, private and recreational spaces. Each of these are components of a spatial and functional system where there is no a hierarchy but a collective functioning of the parties. Beyond the administrative programs typical of the institution, the project pretends to expand the pre-set usages, to build bridges between functions and programs, and to encourage places of meeting and exchange. In this manner, flexible spaces adapted to the passage of time are proposed with the incorporation of courtyards, terraces, and vegetation able to generate top quality work atmospheres. To be able to include in the project development as many investors as possible, a subdivision proposal of the macro-block into 9 similar subplots is performed. The central building occupies one of them, the urban public space another one, and in the rest there are the houses, shops, and offices. The 9 plots function as a block in which the vehicle travels its perimeter, but the interior is reserved for pedestrians, cyclists, public and recreational spaces, and green areas. ep EP

MAIN BUILDING It is located in the block adjacent to the public space with a permeable north faรงade that makes possible the spatial continuity of the square towards the interior. This access occurs gradually which allows the cohabitation of the society with the main programs of the executive and legislative municipal power. The public space surrounds the building and appears again on its South faรงade which owns an operational aspect for the municipal staff, with a new service street providing also an appropriate distance to the nearest residential blocks. To configure the central building, the logic of solid and voids from the urban proposal is taken with the aim to achieve a total integration of the Civic Center as whole. The gaps between the housing groups have continuity inside the central building as the axes of horizontal circulation, these are the ones that define the internal functioning and determine the three volumes that configure the proposal.

RESIDENTIAL BUILDING BLOCKS Parcels where houses, shops and offices materialize are completed with a set of longitudinal volumes, all of them provided in a north-south direction for an optimal use of the best sunshine orientations, achieving cross ventilation in each unit. The volumes are placed generating three large courtyards for private use in the blocks. In the parcels next to the main streets and avenues, with a greater urban character, are located shops in the ground floor and offices are in the rest of the floors. Simultaneously, a typological verification of the possible housing units to be developed is performed, ensuring that their dimensions operate an optimal functional and technological logic without residual spaces. Typologies of one, two and three bedrooms are raised thinking about the variety of users that will live in them. For each typology a parking spot is assigned, located in the underground.

SUQUÍA - URBAN RIVER RESTORATION | Year: 2017 | Team: Emilia Darricades, Tomás Quaglia. | Type: Graduation project. | Location: Córdoba City, Córdoba, Argentina. Urban rivers are essential for the foundation of cities and have several characteristics that make them one of the most important means of change and transformation. They usually have vacant spaces where to incorporate new activities, they cross the cities from within and they are a critical spot to reduce industrial contamination and urban barriers. Córdoba is fragmented into multiple pieces that are not closely linked. It is very common to observe, especially in Latin American cities, the presence of borders that divide them. These limits may appear due to infrastructures, large transport routes, urban barriers or topographical characteristics. Nowadays, beyond the situation of deterioration and low environmental quality, the river appears as an opportunity for the development of a biological axis in a metropolitan scale, due to the connection with the urban fabric. Suquía River evidences the need to establish a multidisciplinary management that promotes the linkage of the territory with the city, enhancing the mountain landscape in the northwest sector, and the plain landscape in the east area. With the intention of reincorporating borders, we designed a large public space with pedestrianization and a mixture of complex activities. The smart city of the future aims to gain flexibility and innovation, prefers living borders to dead ones and it gets stimulated from the others and their differences.

ARTISTIC TEACHING CENTER | Year: 2015 | Team: Emilia Darricades, Tomás Quaglia. | Type: 4th year project. | Location: Córdoba City, Córdoba, Argentina. The site has a regular form and within it, two existing institutions are located: towards Simón Bolívar Street, the old Public Restroom building, of great patrimonial value, where today there is a sport center and, towards Fructuoso Rivera Street, Adolfo Saldías School with lower architectural value but in good general conditions. The strategy is to configure the edges of the existing gap in the core of the block generating a central void where the two existing institutions and the proposed technical school come together. In the search for a new teaching space, as opposed to the traditional educational typology, the resolution of the problem is sought through the “systems architecture”. A new area of education designed to integrate a nontraditional classroom into the educational experience is promoted. The building has flexible usages and it is characterized by the versatility on its functioning and on its construction. It proposes an open organization with the possibility of expanding and adapting to future needs or uses. The project differentiates two components: the closed boxes loaded with activities and disposed as cells in an organic manner; and the large roof, a binding element of these “cells”. 33
