west apartment complex

one of the main characteristics of san antonio downtown city is its historical architecture. these buildings represent the culture and diversity that exists in our city. the idea behind this project was to fully renovate the interior of 3 existing historical building and a fourth one that would be deconstructed and recycled into a new apartment complex. located in 2211 w. salinas st. in the heart of west community, this 8 unit apartment and 3 commercial spaces create a city block of mixed use spaces. this project emphasizes the central importance of shared open space for residents and the community. the central courtyard allows all units and retail to have a direct access from the exterior. one important characteristic of this design was sustainability. the addition of a sustainable energy source like photovoltaic solar panels and a water collection system for the apartment units will benefit the way of living of this community. 04

Lime supermarket

Located in 1227 Broadway Street, near the heart of Urban Community in San Antonio, this supermarket as part of a Broadway Master Plan emphasizes the importance of food retail in an urban society. With more than 58,000 sq. ft. the store is considered a Supermarket rather than grocery store. Its location, layout, circulation and merchandising decisions are driven by the need for products to be easily visible and accessible.

tHE MATERIALS OF THIS PROJECT CONSISTED of a combination of stainless steel panels, a lime green colored entrance, metal shading devices and exposed steel structure on the inside. The site was divided into two parts: parking accesibility and food retail. The store entrances faces south and opens to the parking lot creating a very broad and inviting entry from this direction.

f[3] BY SYNDETIC LAB

28

f3 by syndetic_lab. a team project that was developed our senior year in collaboration with william lambert architectural office at san antonio, tx. the project started as a competition in which my team's design was the ultimate winner selected by lambert's office and the public for final installation. F[3] is a project in which we explored the concept of folding, in all manners to create an architectural inspired art installation. The goal was to create a one of a kind, architectural installation that would transform the interior space of the firm. Our desire WAS to design a malleable system, one that can be easily reconfigured and reproduced to adapt itself in other interior spaces. THE DESIGN CONSISTED OF IRREGULAR AND UNIQUE TRIANGULAR SHAPES MADE OF COROPLAST CONNECTED TO EACH OTHER THROUGH ZIP TIES CREATING A MODERN ANGULAR INSTALLATION. Our method of designing involved the use of both digital modeling software with CNC cutting technology to produce a product of the utmost precision. THE PROJECT WAS SUCCESFULLY FUNDED AND NOW IS CURRENTLY SHOWCASED AT THE FIRM.
