MAKANA PAVILION MAKANA Pavilion is a social intervention to make better the student- life inside campus Tecnologico de Monterrey. The pavilions provide areas to read, socialize, or take a nap in the shadows. The materials are recycled and lightweight, which facilitates the moving of pavilions around the campus. The shape of the pavilions were taken from the analysis of the solar study from the sunniest area of the campus. Lines were created in the boundaries between the colors given and then elevated to get as result the Makana Pavilions.

A solar study was done in the terrain taking in consideration the location of the project and the terrain. It was very interesting how some curves were given according to the shadows by some objects in the terrain, so this were used and extruded in 3D to create different pavilions which could be sustainable and moved along the campus.

Underground Market Pedestrian Access
Fast Food Market
MERCADO HIDALGO The city of Monterrey lacks Green areas and needs an urgent environmental restoration. The city center is a high-density area, were everything can be found in a walking distance. The area is retaking the importance it used to have years ago. It needs interventions which are thought for the environment and thought for the pedestrian, at the same time offering and complying the needs of the companies around. The Mercado Hidalgo works with the culinary institute, which facilitates the co-lateral work to provide fresher food, and a green area for everybody around.
Culinary School Existing Structure Green Park Underground parking
MERCADO HIDALGO Monterrey City Center, N.L., Mexico Fall 2016 ITESM The original site was a parking lot under an existing structure, which functioned for the Culinary Institute right behind it. The concept was to make the least intervention possible and respect the structure and create a market with it. Due to the lack of green areas, the concept was a park full of trees to create shadow and a fresh area for the city. The parking is in the underground level and the semi-private market with double height. The street level benefits from the accessibility, and is where the fast-food market is found, as well as the entrance to the Culinary Institute. People now can enjoy a fresher and clean air, with views to the mountains around and a small intervention to the eye level.

CENTRO GANDHI Centro Gandhi is in the city center of Monterrey. This area has been forgotten little by little yearly, and any buildings are left abandoned. As a very important area for the city, interventions and restorations are needed to bring life back to the center. Centro Gandhi is located in one of the main streets parallel to the biggest avenue in the city and right in front of the Gandhi Library. The building used to be a mixed-use complex, commerce in the first floor and apartments from 2nd to 4th. This program is replanted in the project, adding a center for the library and pedestrian friendly, relocating the parking in an empty terrain next to Centro Gandhi.
CENTRO GANDHI Monterrey, N.L., Mexico Fall 2016 ITESM The original building has an Art Deco architecture, from from the 1930’s. The 1st floor used to be commerce and from 2nd to 4th floor used to be luxury apartments. The building was abadoned around 25 years ago.

CASA CHIARO The Casa Chiaro is a two floor house for a family of four. The concept was created from an orthogonal mass, creating some voids for natural light, and a connection between the inside and the outside. The voids discover nature and incorporates it to the daily resident’s activities. The floors are divided between social and private areas. The main void divides the repection area and the living room, which connects to the dinning room and kitchen. In the second floor, there are two rooms divided by a void, and a family room with great views to the outside for the family to enjoy.
CASA CHIARO Monterrey, N.L., Mexico Fall 2014 ITESM The house transmits transparency but at the same time privacy, locating the windows in the right angle and using the trees as a mediator between rooms and patios.

EL EDÉN The proyect is located in the outside of the city of Monterrey. The client is an international fashion model who aimed for a better life style. The program includes commerce and aparments. The commerce is visible through the facade while the appartments are hidden, and as the spectator moves inward, the public factor decreases and the apartments become visible. This way of distribution contributes with the security of the apartments which are arranged along the site, sharing a small open area that motivates the interaction between residents.

EAAD DESIGN CENTER
The EAAD Design Center is an area for design and architecture students to take classes, do homework, socialize, and rest. This building is surrounded by other buildings from the university. The site was analyzed and the amazing mountain views from the city and monumental buildings around were taken as the most important factor for the design. The views were framed from the surrounding buildings and the pedestrian eye level, creating voids and solids from the starting orthogonal mass. This gave as result the final mass, creating a bond between the surrounding buildings and the EAAD Design Center.
ITESM 2014
EAAD DESIGN SCHOOL Monterrey, N.L., Mexico Fall 2015 ITESM The project site is in the middle of the university Tecnologico de Monterrey. The site is surrounded by educational buildings that have a very special and iconic value for the campus. The buildings responded to the views of the mountains and all had the same height. This two ideologies were respected and taken into consideration for the new Design Center. The Design Center was designed creating new space for design students that spoke with the exterior, creating open and public spaces for the better development of the users.
