Anahi DeCanio - Studio Notes

Page 1

• Anahi DeCanio is an award-winning, multidisciplinary artist. Her work is represented by several galleries and is part of private and corporate collections in the US and abroad. Born in Uruguay, she settled in New York’s Hudson Valley as a small child.

• The transition to a new environment emphasized the importance of home as a place of nurture as well as physical and emotional comfort. Whether the inspiration comes from urban vibrancy or Zen landscapes, her abstracts are rooted in that concept and seek to evoke a positive emotional connection to the work. Successful design projects and collaborations emerged from a respect for the aesthetic vision and the energetic dimensions we seek from the spaces we inhabit.

ABOUT ANAHÍ

• Anahi has exhibited extensively and the venues include The Boca Raton Museum of Art, Brown University’s Sarah Doyle Gallery, the Palm Beach Armory, Art Basel, Miami, National Steinbeck Center, East Hampton’s Guild Hall, the AKA Hotel in Tribeca and several charitable design show houses. Anahi was the White House Fellows featured artist in a DC exhibit in the Fall of 2016 and had a solo exhibit at the Consulate of Uruguay in New York City. Her artwork is currently part of Luminary’s NYC space.

• DeCanio’s work has garnered press in numerous publications, including the New York Times, Time Magazine, Boca Magazine, Palm Beach Post and Robb Report. Various motion pictures and TV shows have used her work as part of set design. She is the founder and curator of sustainability focused eARThHAMPTONS and is active in several art and charitable organizations.

• Ms. DeCanio combines her worlds of art, and love for all things home and design as a real estate agent with Douglas Elliman.

COLOR NUANCES…

Color palettes, can reflect the mood or tone of an abstract. Slight differences in shades and tones can convey an entirely different feel.

Pairing a color palette with images of a different genre or colors associated with a different vibe (like pink and black for example) will lead transmit a uniquely different message. Even shades of the same Color offer wildly different perceptions. Think hot “barbiecore” fuchsia pink compared to a “baby pink” or a barely there blush.

contrast creates visual interest and delivers strong impact while communicating nuanced messages left to the viewer to interpret.
