moodboards A moodboard is a type of collage that consists of images, text, and samples of objects in a composition. Mood boards are used to enable a person to visually illustrate the style they are pursuing. However, they can also be used to visually explain a certain style of writing, or an imaginary setting for a storyline. In short, mood boards are not limited to visual subjects, but serve as a visual tool to quickly inform others of the overall “feel of an idea. This following moodboards mostly represent the style and atmosphere inside each story.

valentino artwork This work started with the analisys of the Fall/Winter 2013/14 collection of the brand Valentino. The objective was to discover and emphazise the mood, atmosphere inside the collection. Valentino for this season took inspiration from Flemish paintings, extracting a sense of purity and colour to create a collection that combined all the Valentino elegance we know and love while adding just the right amount of contemporaneity. This collection was one that showed that fairytales, in somewhat of a contradiction, aren’t just for adults. There was magic for all ages here.

balenciaga project
This work started with the analisys of a brand. The idea was to formulate a proposal for the visual and promotional identity of a brand. trough the constrution of a lifestyle moodboard that represents the brand. Then the construction of three proposals: one in order with the brand concept, wich is Architectural Couture; the second one, in the middle with the brand and something different, so the idea of Romantic Austerity came up; and the last one, wich was totally different from the brand, meaning, someAlexander Wang, a New York up-and-comer who won the CFDA Designer of the Year award before he was 30, was named the new creative director thing the brand never though of making of Balenciaga. dark romance The theme Dark Romance will become very appealing to the Women’s market, with the dull, morbid and edgy style. Dark Romanticism was one of the main themes in trend for the Fall/Winter 13&14 season. The theme has been a huge trend in recent and past years. Overall it´s s characterized by its dull and sometimes morbid, edgy fashion and style of dress. This trend is composed of delicate lace, rich velvet, feminine silhouettes, and flowing chiffon for a darkly brooding and beautiful look. Fabrics such as leather, velvet, chiffon, lace, and silk. The fabrics add a romantic, yet gothic appearance.

day-off miami Androgyny has always been a source of interest and intrigue. But as society’s boundaries have changed, so too have the masculine-feminine boundaries blurred. From ambiguous sexual and physical attributes evolving to a more relaxed stance on gender-blurring fashion, we look at the changing face of androgyny. Embrace sneakers, slouchy pants, masculine tailored blazers and oversized shirts, because menswear for women has gotten even more effortlessly cool. It’s all about volume, layering, and an underlying attitude. In this case it was even more emphazise the relaxed mood with the use of swimsuits

gERMAN EXPRESSIONISM The german expressionist cinema, was the arrival point of a research with the theme Art&Fashion. After analysing the work of the photographer Daniel Saanwald whose images are haunted and surrealistic, the most interesting choice seemed to be the german expressionist cinema, wich influnced largely his work. The main characteristics are the Black and White, the high contrast of the pictures, elongated shadows, and dramatic characters. In what concerns to the outfits, the main concerns were color (all black&white), and strange volumes that could seem distorted.

ELEMENTS mood The following outfits were made with the objective of creating a mood by mixing three diverse elements. The elements are: the 20´s and 40´s, Noir and Miami. So as it was referred in the previous chapter, the choose of the garments was made in order of these elements. The volumes of the 20´s with fluid and geometriche skirts, the squared shoulders of the 40´s, the stocky hat and wedge shoes, combined with a contrastant atmosphere Noir, with colorful prints from Miami lifestyle. Previously it is shown a composition of part of the wardrobe that was made for the project.

dark romance
Little black dress Through the analisys of the diverse basics, it was defined a specific basic, in this case the Little Black Dress , and a specific theme related to it. The construction of the project was the consequent step, with the creation of the inspirational mood for the photoshoot. The Dark Romanticism is known as “Gothicism or American Romanticism—is defined as a literary subgenre that suggests people are prone to sin and self-destruction”. The style originated mainly from the Victorian mourning era and was characterized by dark color clothing such as ruffled high collars, open lacy sleeves, and stovepipe hats.

run girl, run! girly sport
This photoshoot started with the idea of making it outside of the studio. With this principle it was pretty quickly the decision of making something with movement, so it came up the idea of sport. Then the idea of sport became to simple and comum, so the idea of mix it with something different - girly from the 50´s. The project was the consequent step, with the creation of the inspirational mood for the photoshoot, which included sporty elements like snickers and socks and girly elements such as the pastel colors and the midi high-waist skirts.

day-off miami!
masculine&miami Instead, this photoshoot started the creation of a Trendbook for the Fall/Winter 2013/14 collection. The trend Masculine/Tayloring was choosen among the diverse trends. The Theme Day-Off was thought with the idea of making a masculine more relaxed, out of work, not the commom business women with the suit. The sucessive idea was give it a little bit more color, so the idea of Miami came up in order to transforme the masculine in something more sporty and full of live. The inspirational mood was constructed with the traditional masculine and colorfull elements such as the swimsuits and accessories from Miami theme.
