Waterfront Toronto RESEARCH Toronto - Canada George BROWN COLLEGE - STUDENT RESEARCHER The second phase of the Waterfront research is focused on the implementation of 3D laser scanner technologies and surveying traditional methods to gather the existing condition of the Don Land area.

The team researched and tested different methodologies such as: use target base registration with more than one scanner at the time and use the total station to geo-reference the point-cloud into softwares such as InfraWorks and Civil 3D. All this in other to reduce the registration processing time and to get more accurate results.

In this course, students practice using Revit Structure, Revit MEP, Tekla Structures and Navisworks to apply the Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflow to construction management. Students combine 3D models from multiple disciplines to analyze digital models in an integrated project design process. Potential object clashes and interferences are identified and communicated during constructability studies. Students link 3D BIM model to task-scheduling files and create 4D and 5D virtual construction simulations utilizing Microsoft Project and/or Primavera. Students learn to create photorealistic visualization images and walkthrough animations for communication with various stakeholders in construction projects.

Qualifications: - Coordinated a team of more than twenty people including the trades in order to planed, designed and constructed office complex for Quala Tocancipa new office; the project were successfully completed in less than six months - Achieved budget savings of more than five percent due to proper planning, sharp negotiations and technical coordination

The building’s interiors balance privacy and collegiality in an open and serene environment. The open space encourage collaboration where every employee enjoys the view of the Savannah.

Quala Terrace tocancipa Tocancipa - Colombia QUALA SA - PROJECT coordinator

The new Tocancipa 300 square meter terrace brings a natural and unique open space to the plant. The prefabricated concrete deck with multiple color accents breaks with the lineal and narrow geometry of the space. The terrace features a comfortable transition zone to accommodate the Quala’s passengers from the Plants to the social and communal spaces on break times.

cali’s green corridor Bogota - Colombia los andes university Professional researcher The Colombian city of Cali plans to implement an urban renewal project that involves the reconstruction of a 22 km long strip in the heart of the city along the old Pacific rail line. “The Green Corridor” project will include a network of electric light rail, high-quality public spaces and cycle paths. The project aims to improve access to economic opportunities for the population (especially low income groups) and reduce emissions from transportation. Project implementation will start in year 2016 and will be completed in three phases by the end of year 2022.

The project impacts 11 of the 22 districts of the city that covers approximately 1.2 million inhabitants. Along its route, the proposed corridor intersects areas with different socio-economic strata and land use including industrial, residential, commercial, institutional, recreational, etc. It’s influence area covers 110 meters, 55 meters from the pedestrian walk on each sense (west-east). It is an urban renewal project and the Master Plan considers the creation of opportunities for social inclusion and job creation that can overcome the barriers imposed by social inequality.

Chapel Center Bogota - Colombia Capstone project - student Architecture has great challenges, as it not only embraces human beings but also materialize its beliefs and dreams. A Parish Center is an example of this task that is now portrayed in Minuto de Dios neighborhood. The old church was demolished and the actual buildings’ conditions do not evoke any spiritual quality, besides their incapability to lodge its community. That is why the aim of the project is the creation of a temple, a sacred place in which one can perceive the original essence of the neighborhood as well as designing a place where heavenly merges with earthly revealed in architecture.

Therefore, this work is the result of seeking the answer to the question of how to persuade though a human artifice the transition from the material and earthly to the spiritual and holy? To answer it, one must appeal to asceticism, a mystical process that embroils a journey of soul’s purification and spiritual retreat.

Thus, the proposal reveals that the approximation between human and divine requires an inductive process that carries any visitor to its release from the material world in order to come in contact with the incorporeal. It starts by a portal in which the pilgrim begins a journey that connects with him to its origins and the infinity of a framed sky, causing his own intimacy that leads to an ultimate mystical ecstasy. Finally, with these steps this architectural project can achieve the transition between heaven and earth.

The project is located in Santa Barbara, one of the oldest neighborhoods of the City of Bogota. The objective of the project is to create a transition between the public and the private space. TECHO, also known as Un Techo para mi PaĂ­s (UTPMP) (Spanish for A Roof For My Country), is a nonprofit organization that mobilizes youth volunteers to fight extreme poverty in Latin America, by constructing transitional housing and implementing social inclusion programs. It was founded by a Jesuit priest, and working with more than 720,000 volunteers, it has constructed houses for over 102,400 families in 19 countries in Latin American and the Caribbean and 2 offices located in Miami, FL, USA and London, England that work as funds hubs.
